  • In this video we look at an ER (Entity-Relationship) Modeling exercise to begin designing a relational, transactional database for information related to a catering business. We consider entities (like the "nouns" in a sentence) such as Customer and Event. We think about some of the attributes we will collect data on: names, locations, types, descriptions, and so on. We look at the relationships (like the "verbs" in a sentence) between the entities. We place some emphasis on the multiplicity of the relationship by stating it in both directions: A Customer schedules MANY Events. An Event is scheduled by ONE Customer.
