    Was this over Jordan Bay?

No, this was over Lower Bay, at the south end of the lake. I took off near the Standish boat launch. at 4:23 you can almost see over Jordan Bay to Raymond Beach waaaay at the other end, just about in the middle of the screen.

Any idea how thick the ice was?

Highly variable across different parts of the lake. There was still open water on the main lobe of the lake. Where I took off is probably well over 6" as that's been frozen for a while. The black stuff in the middle is newer and was thinner, I'm told. I stayed in areas where I had seen skaters. But I still didn't dare go without flotation and ice picks.

@@fwkb2 Good idea. I wasn't thinking about the what if. Awesome flight however.

@@fwkb2Beautiful shots! I was skating the lake that morning. Where you see the skaters on black ice it was between 2" and 6" as told by the occasional crack and adding a little for the previous night's freeze.

@@ajerabek5980 Thanks! Glad you got to skate it! I availed myself of some of the gray ice a few days earlier closer to the station with nordic skates. But I didn't make it onto any of the black stuff! Not really complaining, 'cause flying over it was magnificent, but a small part of me wondered if I should have skated it while I had the chance.
