Growing up, we had an hour and a half ride on the bus going to and coming from school. Because it was so long, the school district installed a tape player on the bus. The driver was fond of the music of Charley Pride. It didn't take long for a snot-nosed 8-year-old to become a fan, too. Some 50 years later, I'm still a fan. RIP Mr. Pride.
Charlie's gone. The greats are leaving us. Who's gonna fill their shoes? Charlie, Johnny, Merle, the Ole Possum. We're left with the memories and the music. Thank God those things will never die. RIP, Charlie. We will miss you, my man.
@@qsmithfield9746 George Strait would be my pick, followed by Alan Jackson or Randy Travis. Willie Nelson is the last of the classic country stars still fairly active and touring. Other than them, I don't know. I would've also mentioned Garth Brooks a few years ago, but he's trending kind of "pop-ish", so that knocks him down a few pegs.
Charlie Pride was one of the most gracious celebrities ever. He lived in Dallas near the Tollway, and on occasion people who were curious would knock on the door, and CP himself would answer and invite them into the foyer and chitchat for a bit.
This has been a terrible year, but especially in singers from my youth leaving us. In 2020, we've said goodbye to Kenny Rogers (3/20), Charlie Daniels (7/26), and Helen Reddy (9/28). Now, Charley Pride has left us. With only 3 weeks left, I can't wait to see 2020 in the rearview mirror.
I've listened to Charlie's sweet music for over forty years and he always sounds the same way he sounded the first time . May he rest in eternal peace .

Charley Pride is one of my favorite country music singers of all time. God blessed him with one of the greatest voices ever in country music.
Im so sad. Loved his music. It was honest pure country.
Oh man, I had a massive crush on Charlie when I was young! So much class.
He didn;t even have to try. The music and talent just rolled right out of him.
Whom will take this great country singers place when the pearly gates open to welcome him through them ??
Nobody! The world is a sadder place today. RIP Mr. Pride.

RIP Charlie, you will be missed all over the world
Hello, how are you doing?
But the real question is did anyone ever give him a ride to San Antonio or Phoenix?
Doesn't matter. This is one of the best country tunes ever!
Nobody would pick him up when his thumb was out
God bless you will never be forgotten RIP RIP golden boy
When I was a kid, I thought the line 'forget I've ever known her' was actually 'forget my belbernonia,' whatever that is.
I’m so sorry for his family
country music today is such a distant cousin of this style they almost don't match musical DNA. Sad times we are in now!!
OH NO!!!!😭😭😭😭💔
R.I.P CHARLIE PRIDE. COUNTRY MUSIC HAS LOST ONE OF THE GREATS. PRAYERS TO HIS FAMILY 😭💙
Wtf was that camera angle in the beginning. Looked like some creep snuck in and was filming from the rafters
I've listened to Charlie's sweet music for over forty years and he always sounds the same way he sounded the first time . May he rest in eternal peace .
