Nick I noticed that you don’t ‘downplay’ your English when talking to Indonesians, which is perfect, I respect that a lot. Why does this matter in my opinion it shows that you view Indonesians (or other non-english speakers) as equal. Because sometimes it bothers me when other foreigners downplay it too much thinking our people are not that well-spoken enough to talk English. From what I see, it could actually encourages Indonesians to learn and improve the language overtime. You’re authentic, Nick, to say the least. Love!
Imagine how annoying it is for foreigners trying to learn Indonesian when locals just speak English back to us - we want to speak Indonesian not English ffs, if you want to practise your English go on a course.
