Need a full Rugby Pod break down of this
Uh huh.
@@TheRugbyPod Praise the rugby elders ! At least half an hours worth of material here. Hearing Big Jim talk his way out of these !!!
@@TheRugbyPod particularly how he seems to be punching mainly smaller guys :)
@@huzcer because he is the biggest player so there is no one his size there to punch
@@whatsupeverybodyitisfuckit3810 true but sort of unwritten rule that you don't punch up somebody more than 6 inches shorter than you unless they are the ones starting. Here it's Hamilton starting / being the aggressor. Bully
Met this man in a nightclub once,he was with the Gloucester team, for a joke I went up to him and asked him what he did for a living. Once he realised I was joking he put me in a headlock and told me I was buying him a drink at the bar, when we got to the bar he bought me a drink. Top man. Real laugh.
Yeah im sure that happened
Seems like a top bloke
@@johntaaffe954why do you assume people make up stories? Your comment is more a giveaway about your pathetic little man no-mark character than anyone else's...
@@johntaaffe954yeah I'm sure you'll be able to find this out [asking Big Jim only real option here]
I love the slow-mo range of emotions on Etzebeth's face, goes from shock to confusion to straight murderous rage in the space of a couple of seconds..
The exact moment Jim Hamilton realised he'd made a mistake...
😂😂😂
@@someofthemcallthemselvesce8756 Never the less I'd much rather be on his good side.
@@daaichommie708 sure but I think he just likes annoying people
@@someofthemcallthemselvesce8756 Thats the role of the enforcer. Every team needs a player that gets under the skin of the opposition. Bakkies was an ace at that.
I met Jim in the gym in Edinburgh 5 years ago, I asked him about some summer tests and we got chatting, he was really engaging and he chatted to me about rugby, life etc, really engaging bloke and really enjoyed his time. If I’m honest not at all what I expected and appreciated his time.
That final clip with Eben Etzebeth is the best. You see Hamilton quickly turn the shoulder away when he sees what's about to happen.
really....your man is just a bum....i agree hamilton worked himself on the field....but eben isnt much better....never seen him win a battle...like big jim, just full of piss.....hard men are few and far between....those two arent hard.....ask the pontypool front row
A giant in rugby. Still does the sport a lot of good today. Saw him and Etzebeth in a podcast a while ago. Both great men.
💯
Eben still a Jnr back then
Jim Hamilton was friends with my high school RE teacher/school rugby coach from childhood and came in to talk to us one day when I was about 16.
Spoke to us about his career and came to a training session and did some lineout drills with us - just because the teacher was an old pal.
Proper decent guy as far as I'm concerned despite his fiery temper on the pitch!
I take back everything I have said about Jim Hamilton, this man sah-wings!! Seems like such a lovable person off the field. I still think Etzebeth had his number booked but heezus, I now would loooove to see them square up. I have been humbled by this, well done Andrew Forde, brilliant upload!
The last clip tim swinsons face is like "what have you done" as tge beast inside eben etzebeth wakes up
😂
Eben etzebeth
just another wannabe tough Saffer
@@ILoveDawko I would love to see you say that to his face.
@@cella6495 it's a real honour to be a part of your bedtime fantasies alongside a strapping rugby player, sonny
An old school second row. He grew up watching the Coventry pack in the late 80's and 90's and they were brutal. I also had the misfortune of playing against him at junior level. I was pretty much left counting my ribs after a big hit. But a great guy off the pitch.
tell me more about this coventray pak?
What’s the Coventry pack?
@@Hddftkkk🤣🤣🤡🤡
People seem to forget he was a tough man and a great player
When he stopped the 80 minute tough guy act he emerged into a very good player. Especially later on in his career
In fairness to Hamilton. He never went after easy targets..
Big Jim Hamilton, fightin' 'round the world
Copying russell crowe
World would be a better place with more fightin
Any self respecting team should have at least one of its locks on a 'rugby's greatest thugs' video...
therealmrfishpaste couldn’t agree any more! Think it’s a second rows duty to be a thug!
Nonsense, Wales are second in the world and wouldn't describe AWJ or any of the other locks as thugs. Those days have gone.
Nathan Williams Issa kind of rugby joke bro. See we here on this channel are a little nostalgic. Good thing that wales are setting the new trend tho haha
The young guy for Wales was pretty firey in the boiler room from what I saw in the six Nations
@@nathanwilliams5126 thats because wales have moriarty. Hes a thug and half for wales
Etzebeth and his brothers were looking for Jim.
Respect to him,
Lovely guy when not in warrior mode.
As I Scotsman I hated having Hamilton in the team, he was a decent player but he cost us a few games as he couldn’t control himself. Most teams knew this and exploited it! So many penalties given away, probably has a record for penalties given against him.
Agree, I always felt he was a liability. A decent player but not as good as he seemed to think he was, and some of his hits were way out of order.
Could have done with two or three like him in Japan.
Me too. I thought he was shite back then playing for us and shite as a pundit now too. He always was a glass-jawed princess.
The worst bit about Hamilton is that he only played for Scotland as he couldn't get into the England set up. I think he is from Swindon.
I disagree I am a Scotsman too and when ever he played he used to rumble the opposition but you will have to keep in mind ppl treated him like crap and when I met him in Rome at a coffee shop yes he was super polite he did not just leave the coffee shop because he was abt to leave until I saw him he stayed there waiting if we would carry on or we would say hi. it was before he commentated the game in 2018 Scotland v Italy but all in all the way he played and how he was treated I would have lost it too
this is why i love Big Jim he could knock out anyone, awesome power.
he IS a thug...if you want to punch people get in the boxing ring.😜
@18 seconds and on 2 minutes, Jim can be seen working on the walk and talk interview technique, he does so well nowadays. 😂😂😂
As always would like to re iterate that I’m a big fan of Jim Hamilton, so much so that I was absolutely fuming when he wasn’t called up for the Lions in 2013! This was a suggestion and I was more than happy to oblige but there’s no malice intended whatsoever
Andrew Forde - couldn’t call him up, he couldn’t be trusted to stay on the field. Weakens the team when that much weight is taken out of the pack and the opposition know how easy he is to wind up
Hamish Munroe - and every other shirt he wore!
Fuck him he wasn’t that good you don’t have to justify your choice he did that with his on field antics
me and me I can see you know a lot about the game then you twat
Off the field he is a gentle giant
can only imagine what etzebeth did after that push....wouldnt like to be on the receiving end
The referee falling over was a better crack. He got out of the way quick enough
1:02 - Water Guy: I'm going to break out this fight while I'm hanging on these bottles carrier.
The REAL badass in this video
Big Jim knew Eben had a hair trigger was smart play...love u Big Jim
Jim Hamilton vs Eben EtzeBeth. People would pay to watch that shit. Im going with the pure bread Afrkaans boer
If I was half the man Big Jim was, I'd be six foot two........
I'm glad Gloucester are getting some recognition 👍🏼💪🏼
Going after Big Jim Andy? 😂
Raw Rugby haven’t made a vid on a Scottish player for this series, and only one man sprung to mind...
Raw Rugby that’s brave 😂 wouldn’t wanna piss him off
Just watched a most endearing youtube encounter of Eben and Jim in Toulon. Stunningly human
i suddenly find myself liking Big Jim now.
God help him if his mate didn’t hold Etzebeth back 😂🤣
Must admit, I did enjoy it when he had that confrontation
Marcus Marcus 🤣 for sure 😂😂
calllum Clyne ya it was Lekker to see, too bad his buddy held Eben back or else it probably would’ve transpired to something else 😂😂
@Marcus Marcus Jim realized the mistake he had committed. You could see it in his face. He is a a beast against others, but when it comes to south africans........forget it
Eben would finish him off like a KFC kids meal.
3:18 "good ebening"
I think he learnt the lesson when he pulled off Eben 🤣🤣🤣
This is not a sport this is war
Thought it was Dan Bilzerian in a rugby shirt
Not making excuses, but in a lot of those clips, Big Jim was targeted, and because of his reputation, he was the one punished. That said, he never claimed to be a the best ball player, you did not want to mess with him and honestly he was never one to back down, so was usually the architect of his own downfall. There are lot worse than he was though.
Funny how many other players were getting in shots after the second bust-up with David Paice, but went completely unpunished
Legend
Dont mess with Jim
Man, he's lucky Etzebeth didn't get a hold of him.
Fuck aff
i-know what ya mean, but the fact remains big Jim got the last laugh
My god, that man's punching technique is atrocious
every scotsman can start a fight in an empty pub.
oi theres no such thing in scotland as a empty pub
HOW are you yellow-carded for punching someone in the face?
A good keen man - no problem here, lacks a bit of punching power thats all, love from NZ
Locks are meant to do this stuff.
no mate they're meant to play rugby not be a fucking daft bellend
I like jim on the pod, thick as two short planks but hes genuinely a good laugh. On the flip though he was at best a mediocre rugby player, and used to lose his rag every 5 seconds.
Looks like he’s great at starting but not so much at finishing. Also looks like Bilzarian. Or Hank Scorpio.
“Why are you being so horrible, Andrew!?”
Oliver Parke-Gailey sorry Oliver:(
Anyone notice Scott Lawson trying to protect the London Irish water boy?
The only player that the springboks fear
Great video! I enjoy these "Rugby's biggest thug" videos and subscribed of course, I like Jim Hamilton he looks like a real warrior
pod pod pod
Esto es mejor q el fútbol
Desde hoy formaré mi equipo de rugby
The scrum-half was jumping on his hands in all fairness.
0:29 ref went flying
THE MUSIC BRUHH HAHAHAH
2:48 - back in the days when that was only a yellow card 😂😂😂
3:00 haha always good to see someone bigger and badder than Eben put him in his place
Jim Hamilton is a good rugby player. He brings some spice to the game. Nothing like a bit of a biffo now again between players. He can't really throw a proper punch though.
What about 2:49 he floored him
@@someofthemcallthemselvesce8756 dude's like half the size of him tho.
@@SY-it7xs yeah that guy is only 1.73m while Jim is 2.03
Big Jim rules ,great rugby man
It's very easy to visualise Jim Hamilton wrapped in a wolf pelt, crushing the skulls of his enemies with a claymore.
I liked the way the Gloucester backs got stuck in...... those limp hand flaps will see off all comers
0:30 the linesman went into orbit
The line judge went flying
What did David Paice say to Jim Hamilton that made him turn back??
0:28 poor referee 🤣🤣🤣
That #2 at the beginning of he video did not back down. He challenge Hamilton and landed several blows.
San Anto yea word props to him. No fear there
What a jerk.
The worst kind of player to have on the team.
He's given so many penalties away playing for Scotland, he's lost games, and then gets sent off so you end up playing with 14 anyway.
Waste of time.
Wish he had done this to Trevor Leota. He'd have gotten sparked out lol
Was that max lehiff in the fist click with long tied back hair
Could well be, was playing for Irish up until 2013
I met Jim coming out of the Aviary in Leicester years ago. He was very personable. I played club rugby in the 80’s when you could get away with real thuggery, not this hand bags stuff. I played full back and there were a few games where I nearly walked off the pitch because one of the big lads was being naughty. Sad thing is, they were in our team. No bull.
🙄
Great story bro
Yeah no one asked Gazza
A couple of points: The yellow card in rugby is a travesty and should be discontinued - either red card a player or award a penalty and have done with it; Playing a tough game is not the same as playing a dirty game; the first person to swing a fist or to shoulder charge, and so on, should be red carded and a third offense should attract a 3 month ban. Rugby is not for sissies nor is it for thugs. Hard men, tough men, fair men.
So yellow cards should be discontinued? Do you mean in the context of dirty play or altogether? There are a number of infringements that necessarily demand the issuing of a yellow card. Being repeatedly and deliberately offsides demands a yellow card; a deliberate knock on to prevent a possible try; tackling a player off the ball in an attempt to nullify an attack; tackling without using ones arms. You get the idea. Having played the game at club level (at flank) I saw my fair share of rough stuff and had, as a youngster, more often than not to listen to a lot of macho bullshit from the older blokes in the side who had a very 'black and white" view of how the game should be played and what constituted a "hard man" and what made someone a "sissy." I doubt it was a coincidence that some of them had the same idea that yellow cards should be abolished altogether and it never made a lick of sense to me. Your belief that yellow cards constitutes a travesty and should be abolished seems to be a narrow - minded and inexplicably binary perspective of how the game is meant to be played. I can only hope I've misinterpreted you and you're talking about the issuing of cards regarding dirty play, but even then some players have very different ideas of what's hard and what's dirty and a lot of it is, how shall I put it, generational, not to mention the belief by a good few of the guys in the side that the Afrikaners were the real "manne" (men) and us "Engelse" (English, often meant as a pejorative) were "moffies," (gay). All rugby players need to get on with playing the game and forget about who's a "real man" and what constitutes one. It's subjective. You prove yourself on the field and I've never cared for labels, and the rulebook is there for practical and generally rational reasons and needs to be abided by and followed because without it the game really would be a travesty.
LOL!! Big Jim was pure entertainment!
Eben Etzebeth spends his whole life doing one of two things.
1) Having his photo taken lifting dumbbells in a vest.
2) Holding members of the opposition by the collar while having a crazed look on his face.
He can't fight
Just saw your vid pop up in my feed.....I'm a Forde from Galway ......yourself
there goes the ref he looks like bilzerian
Couldn't play. Had to do something to make a name for himself.
u don't mess with Big Jim
The amount of games he lost for us Scots. I’m usually okay with whoever plays, but I’m glad Hamilton wasn’t picked for the 2015 RWC squad.
He was a raging liability for Scotland. Seemed to revel in his "badboy" status too. Crazy to think we were that hard up for players back then when you look at the squad now
Probably shared a beer after. No hard feelings like it should be.
The guy is my fucking hero ........
Plot twist - Owen Farrell made this video
Thought you said he was a "thug" LOL just some tall dude that cant fight that WANTS to fight everyone
Scotland need a Hamilton type player we are to nice during games every team has one except Scotland
Man alive he just didn't give a shit
Dan bilzarian
if that's who ur comparing, then you must be brain-dead. Plenty others that match better..
Biggest thug to best rugby pundit on TV
Yeah he must be up there with Bismarck and Hartley
Love to see Etz get a taste
Etzabeth was only 12 years old in this video
0:31 the amount of punches the winger got (green) (11)
don't mess with big Jim
Moral of the story is don't start a fight with Gloucester people.
We the ones that like cheese rolling and were never beaten by the Roman army (not in the hills anyway).
We are pretty tough round here.
Not sure I saw Jim do a lot wrong tbh
It's rugby they're playing
Thugs are supported, allowed to do as they want.
Call what it is !! Fucking cowards it easy to hit a man ! Player when hes not looking ! Just cowards ! No men of yesterday the pussys ov today and the future!!
"... just to clear out". Yes. Okay. Sure.
And exactly what was wrong with that "clearing"? As far as I see he came right on, not from the side. Did nothing unlawful and the fact that the opposition got injured is just the hazard of being in a competitive rock.
tbf the second clip, very little he could do no way of getting lower
Mr Forde , I appreciate your work but what about players fr early 00s and 90s when players could still get away with stuff
Discect that with an open cloth
Big Jim was class leave him alone
Don't mess with big jim!
Imagine taking on Eben Etzebeth. Good on'ya, Jim
