Wilco is by far the best flyhalf england have ever had..his tackle was awesome, his drop goals were just disheartening, he could kick goals from anywhere in the opposition half and he had great distribution skills..people remember his injuries and not his run up to 2003....how can you put miss kick, dodgy tackle height of farrel over that?

Admire and respect Mr Dallaglio for his rugby accomplishments. However, in my humble opinion, there can be no honest talk of an all time England 15 without Mr Wilkinson in it. Mr Dallaglio is perfectly entitled to his opinion, but the arguments he advances in support of his view regarding Mr Wilkinson’s omission from his list are - at best - specious. Mr Wilkinson occupies a rarefied place in the history of rugby’s finest no 10s. ⭐️ Mr Farrell is also a class act ⭐️

A world XI over the man who was the top points scorer at WC 2003 after being rested for 2 of the easy games and was easily the player of the tournament. Obviously known for his kicking ability but if you've watched him play he leaves everything on the pitch, big tackles - and not just for his size. Was an entertaining player to watch - probably one of the few players even back in 2003 that could walk in to any other team at the time.

Then for ages Rugby media was talking up discovering "our next LeBron" (ie whoever or whatever Michael Yormark was pushing for at the time) and then Jim complained to the Youngs brothers on here "next LeBron, yeah, but it hasnt happened has it? It was supposed to be Maro but it didnt happen.." and NOW Dallaglio is talking about "how good he's going to be when he's eventually made England Captain.." Eh? This is the same Itoje who spent the 2nd half vs Scotland walking around the pitch? To go with his previous 'walking' performances in the England jersey. But who cares about how he actually plays right? He's not just undroppable according to media decree, he's going to be captain next. How about: justifying his place in the team first?

Iirc Dallaglio was always trying to get Wilkinson to come & play with him & Dawson at Wasps, but Wilkinson stayed loyal to Newcastle. Until he went to France. Then Dallaglio was one of the 1st guys saying England shouldn't pick overseas based players

The trouble with picking these greatest XVs is that people generally only pick from their era and in this case the professional era when many of the greatest players in history played in the amateur era . The world cup winning team was tremendous and was full of very good players and some that were special however there have been greater England players many who played in mediocre teams . I could name a number of great players from the past who I believe we're superior but it's a bit like talking to young people about today's footballers they don't know how good many players from yesteryear were so they only know what they know.
