I just want to say, you even talking about wanting to get into cooking and baking more, is such an amazing step in your recovery and you should be so proud of yourself! As a vegan I would love to see your recipes x
I am SO interested in cook with me videos!! I have the same issue, I'm always tempted by everything and I end up buying a lot of things I don't need and that aren't nutritious specially because I don't really cook much, so I would be motivating, your videos always make me feel like is girly time and we're hanging out together, specially the eat with me and the vlogs
Something that really helps me with grocery store overwhelm is grocery delivery services! I have my meals pre planed and then I just search what I actually need and I'm not standing in the aisles looking at a million things! I'm not sure if it's available where you live but it's been a huge time saver for me too.
@@OceannaFB ugh I know that can be hard, I have celiac so I have to order gluten free and sometimes they try to replace items with things I'm allergic to 😅 it's hit or miss but when it hits it HITS hahaha
Omggg I would love a full length cleaning/organizing video! I try to find a cleaning video when I clean cuz it’s kinda like having a friend do it with me but majority of the time they lay music on top which kinda takes that vibe away and it no longer feels like we’re cleaning together if that makes sense. Idk just a video idea :)
Hi Ocean! Thanks for another beautiful video. I also find that cook with me videos (like GentleWhisperings!) encourage me to cook from scratch after a long day at work. It can be so tempting to just pop a processed meal in the microwave & call it a day (or worse, eat cereal or junk food for dinner), so I'd really appreciate it and think it could be helpful to you too ❤
A couple of things that hopefully will be helpful! 1. If you need to get spices, try a bulk store like Bulk Barn or a local Indian/Asian market so you can buy in smaller amounts (and often cheaper). 2. A) Rainbow Plant Life has just put out a cookbook that you may find helpful in your cooking journey. Her RUclips channel is a blessing. But also, cooking doesn't have to be intense - it can be something as simple as pasta and sauce but the main point is you find some kind of enjoyment in the process. B) unfortunately the only way to get more confidence in the kitchen is to cook but cooking classes are definitely helpful to make things more understandable. It also, at least for me, has given me a new appreciation for food in general.
A really easy curry recipe I make is: •150g extra firm tofu - cubed •1 + 1/4 tsp garlic olive oil - can also use regular oil and some fresh garlic. •45g butternut squash cubed •60g leeks •1 red bell pepper • 100g Tinned chopped tomatoes • Some canned coconut milk to taste •Tikka masala spice blend to taste- I use the Smoke n Sanity brand •Heat oil in a pan. Once the oil is hot Add cubed butternut squash. Cook for 5 minutes. •Add chopped tomatoes, leeks, coconut milk and spice blend. Cover and bring everything to a boil. Then simmer for 10-12 minutes until squash cubes are cooked through, are soft yet holds shape. •Add red bell pepper and tofu. Let it simmer on low heat for 5 minutes. Switch off the flame. Just serve this with some rice and it’s a pretty healthy meal with a decent amount of protein 😊
Also my favourite quick sweet treat is this mug cake, it’s pretty healthy as far as sweets go and has a decent amount of protein- •4 tablespoons non-dairy milk of choice •2 ½ teaspoons liquid sweetener such as maple syrup or agave syrup •3 tablespoons all purpose flour •½ teaspoon baking powder •Pinch of sea salt •2 ½ tablespoons plant based protein powder •2 teaspoons cocoa powder •Handful vegan chocolate chips, optional •This recipe also works with oat flour or almond flour with a bit of a different texture but still delicious • The protein powder I use is- protein works vegan protein in vanilla crème. I highly recommend it but any will work. Directions- •Mix the dry ingredients and then add and mix in the wet •Mix in some chocolate chips if using •Microwave about 1 minute, 40 seconds. Don’t overcook it! Start with 1 minute and 30 seconds, then add 15 seconds at a time after checking it. Full credit for this recipe goes to ZardyPlants. I would have linked it, but RUclips won’t let me 😭
I'd recommend going to smaller grocery stores or ones like Trader Joe's with less options for each item! It's super overwhelming when there are so many choices
i really like ordinary nicacinamide for anti aging, they are vegan. I only use products that are not tested on animals. it’s specific to anti aging, but the product has done wonders on my aging lines, and i want to say your videos are amazing bc i have recently been recovering as well
OMG ! i would love cook with me videos i have a similar situation to yours and would love to see some of your cooking videos !!!! ❤ i love you ocean 🤍🎀
I can’t even say how „real“ you are…. You don’t show that you wake up perfect with brushed hair etc. like other influencers do it 😊Love your videos and your asmr videos ❤ Regards from Germany 🇩🇪
Hey Ocean! Just want to say that I’m so proud of you for trying to find solutions such as cooking in your ED recovery journey. I know how hard and frustrating learning a new habit/skill can be. Be gentle with yourself-You are doing so well! The “booger” from the oat milk is probably just oat cream that wasn’t completely mixed in; you probably just need to shake the container more! Anyways, thanks for being such a warm spirit and being a virtual friend to us all!
the grocery store thing is SO REAL!! I'm currently teaching myself how to cook and trying to figure out where everything is/what type of things I need takes me a million years and I feel so silly
Instant yeast is entirely different! Used for making bread and baking. Nutritional yeast - a lot of vegans use in recipes or as a topper as it has a really cheesy flavor!
I would love cook with me vids! Also I js had an idea, maybe a hunting for props vid? Would be cool to see you hunting for all the amazing props you use!
Hi Ocean! I used to be vegan for several years and nutritional yeast was always SO HARD to find, don't worry it's not just you!! Also as someone who works at an eating disorder treatment center, I know it can be frustrating but try to give yourself some grace, even just going to a place that is triggering for you is a huge step
I highly recommend hello fresh if you're looking for new recipes and I know they do good vegan options! It helps a lot with learning to cook and just seeing what you like to make in the future xxxx
Maybe asking chatgtp for vegan recipes helps with finding nice vegan meals. You can ask all the ingredients and where to find them in the store and you can also make it as specific as you want💕
I would love to be there with you! I love cooking and have done vegan baking/cooking for 4 years!! You can do it and there are so many tasty things out there!
Ocean, your fine lines are not noticeable to me,but I completely understand being worried about them. I just barely started getting Botox and I’m much older than you, with many forehead wrinkles. The lady that does my Botox injections said she has been getting Botox since the age of 25 and that it is advisable to get it early to prevent fine lines and to keep your face from creasing. I wish I would have known that in my 20s. 😢
As far as I know nutritional yeast is not similar to the regular yeasts so you did okay by not buying. I0m no vegan but I cook for vegan people. And the nutritional yeast is used to add kind of a cheesy flavor to sauces and pasta. It's like a condiment and deactivated (means that it doesn't ferment so it's not for baking any dough in general) So yeah. If in doubt don't buy :D
Girl, absolutely tell me about it with the fine lines on the forehead it's been such a thing for me literally since I was a teenager 🙄 One of my favourites is the collagen sheet mask from Mediheal, it's totally vegan, feels really nice, visible improvements after, all around great. A total game changer for me though was my dermatologist told me that chemical exfoliants like glycolic acid, lactic acid, all those AHAs, are a super important part of encouraging collagen production and regenerating the skin and if your skin can tolerate it you're supposed to use it like 3 times a week which is way more than I thought

don't worry girl! i got fine lines on my forehead at the ripe age of ten, so twenty three seems like a perfectly acceptable age to get them to me haha
