08:37 The SNZB-02D reports at least every 30 minutes, however the flaw is that it will report the same temperature as last time unless the temperature has changed by 0.2C. In contrast, the non display sensor SNZB-02 also reports at least every 30 minutes but it reports the exact sensor temperature which might have changed as little as 0.01C. It's only when you plot the output of the SNZB-02 and the SNZB-02D alongside each other in a room in which the temperature changes slowly, that the shortcoming of the SNZB-02D becomes apparent. I don't know whether this is a software bug or whether Sonoff is trying to preserve battery life by not updating the display, thinking perhaps that nobody cares about a temperature change of less than 0.2C. I am using 10 SNZB-02s and 10 SNZB-02Ds to monitor the offices and spaces in a small office building. Some are being used to feed a node-red PID controller which sets the flow temperature on the building's ASHP. The ASHP runs 24h in the middle of winter and the temperature change is less than 1C in most offices in 24 hours. But the granularity the 02D is just crude to be used in a control loop. Very interesting Mat, just ordered a couple to try out. I tend to use the Aqara ones but I recognise that for some of the areas in the house my wife would prefer to see a display rather than fire up HomeAssistant on her phone. Thanks!
@@levi799pretty good experience, battery life is good, have not had to change them yet. Display not easily readable in low light and I find that one of them seems to drop connection on occasion, probably because of its location. I would say they are pretty good value for money.
Nice looking unit and a bit cheaper than the AQARA versions. The 2450 lasts much longer than the 2032.... I was wondering, does this sensor work well in cold temperatures long term, such as in a refridgerator? I know the Aqara zigbee sensor, without a display, can go down to below -18 degrees C and the battery life is quite good even in cold environments.
@@sven1858 Bluetooth range would be dramatically reduced by the metal enclosure of the fridge, and as BT is only about 10 to 15 metres at best of times, the extra range of ZigBee would likely give Zigbee the edge, even though the range of a sensor in the fride would still be reduced. Could be worth trying though :). My concerns would be how the battery and the circuitry and LCD cope with the lower temps :)
I am new to your channel and not sure you already checked the Xiaomi Mijia Bluetooth Thermometer 2 - you can get 10 of them for 70NZ$ (~35 GBP) including shipment. Your issue with the sensor going offline is a little odd. I have 4 of them and they stay online for ... Well, until I update home assistant next which is about every 2 months for me (I don't update every single time). I am using ZHA though, but they also worked on deConz the same way. Maybe it is a Z2MQTT issue?

Great video! I'm new to sonoff as I wanted something to make dumb tech smart I.e a few lights I have in the office and garage are led strip lights, and I wanted to spend £20 per light rather than £75 x 2 for philips hue, even though my house easily has 50+. Anyway... I assume I could run this with a smart inline switch to enable and disable a bathroom extractor fan? I don't have a sonoff coordinator (hub) but do have 7+ alexas in the house, assuming it might run OK from that? Thanks, love the videos!

Hi, I got this temperature sensor and I'm quite satisfied except for the possibility of changing the "comfort level settings" in the settings. When I try to change them it asks me for confirmation on the device button but even if I press the button only once nothing happens. I have firmware version 1.0.9 which appears to be the latest. I would add that it is not a problem with the device because I purchased another one and the problem is present. I would like to ask you if this problem is also present in yours and if you have any idea how I can solve it. Thank you
