- This video is the first in a series of Final Fantasy VII pieces I'll be posting over the next few months, in anticipation of the remake! I'm planning to release a full album of music from FFVII, which will include some tracks I've already recorded, some I'll be re-recording, and three brand new arrangements by me.
I'm still debating whether I should play the remastered version of FFVII or wait till the remake comes out. It will be my first time playing it. Which do you recommend?! I'm definitely looking forward to the newly orchestrated tracks which will be in the remake. Someone needs to tell Square Enix that I want to be their pianist!! (Just kidding)
I'd like to try closet cosplaying Aerith for another video soon. I think I could polish the costume just a bit, with a more visible camera angle!

This is beautiful! I used to play your videos in my classroom for quiet time; however, I’ve been battling stage 3 cancer for the last 8 months. So instead of playing them for my students, I’ve listened to them during chemo, recuperating from surgeries etc. They have brought me so much peace and happiness. Yes yes yes. I was 12 and had barely left the house. It was wonderful to journey to Kalm with my friends following the destruction of their home.

One of my favorite pieces from Uematsu. Hearing the first few bars, I was instantly transported to 1997 being 13 again sitting in my bedroom on the floor and playing through this game each weekend. I didn't have much money back then and would save up my lunch money each week so I could rent it each Friday from the video store to continue the story. Thank you for this. It was a much simpler time than adulthood.

Everyone seems to like One Winged Angel or Dancing Mad, but my heart is in pieces like this. The quieter, more intimate moments in these games are what truly shine.
Some people's favorite Final Fantasy songs are battle themes and One Winged Angel and Eyes on Me and stuff.
But me, I always go for the village/town themes. Frontier Village Dali is another one of my favorites.
Mystic Mysidia, Torian Beauty, Town Theme of Final Fantasy 5, Kids Run Through the City Corner, Farmboy, Ahead On Our Way, Balamb Garden, Sleepless City Treno, Zanarkand… they ARE among my very favorites.
Final fantasy 9 oepning menu, a place to call home is possibly my number 1 final fantasy music or ff6 overworld music.

Such a mix of emotions with this song. My partner absolutely LOVED FFVII and told me how much I'd appreciate the music in it. I remember her playing this video for me as an example. She passed later in 2020 and now this music holds a very dear place in my heart, especially this particular video.

For years and years and years, since I was a boy, I had known this is "Ahead On Our Way". I had to check and I realise now that I have been mistaken all this time. An exquisite performance, made all the more enjoyable by dressing up as Aeris. Even as a 34 year old, I still listen to the soundtrack, often when I visit childhood friends (makes excellent background music), so I look forward to your Final Fantasy VII album.
Myrkskog Yeah I also knew this as Ahead On Our Way. But many tracks from FF series have multiple names so I guess it happens because of the different translations from Japanese.
Yeah I had Ahead on our Way written down in my book, but only recently discovered its real name! I have to have the official titles for when I upload the album to spotify or they wont approve it XD
Nobuo does have a song called "Ahead On Our Way", but it's from FF5.

Since the remake will be launched in "episodes", I think playing the remastered version is the best way to experience the complete story and atmosphere of the game. That way you will discover why there is so many of us in loved with FFVII, it's characters and it's music.
I've been listening many pianists playing Uematsu's songs for years and your are definitely ONE OF THE BEST, and right now my favorite (I discovered your videos a couple of weeks ago). Congrats!

She's apparently working on some copyright issues. I bought the physical CD and just got the digital download.
Possibly this week! It's taken me sooooo long to get it out because of approval issues. I think I've solidified everything, so Im just waiting for acceptance! :)

This is probably the best piano recording of this song that I've heard. You really nailed the pacing and dynamics that I feel a lot of others struggle with on FFVII renditions.
I'd love to buy the album - honestly, who knew that video games could give such culture and beautiful music/art. Only the Japanese could find such emotion and art in such a platform (anime, manga, jrpg's). Thanks for embodying the music!

Your profile and cosplay here, just reminded me of something. Knew someone almost reminded me of Aerith, some reason, was nice lady, turned out to be a quite fantastical nerdgirl. Over and done, long and gone. But as a kid for the Gold Saucer date, I only got Aerith (which I found later was just because she starts with 50 date points and I never knew about buying the flower to give to Tifa, or helping up Tifa first, etc.). Dilly dally shilly shally!

This is my favorite slow piece from the collections. It has so many color possibilities. Also I like the way you ended it. I always felt the written ending didn't sound finished. This ending sounds more complete.

Hi Kara, your cover is really good, thank you. Regarding your question, currently, the original game looks a bit outdated, and the battles and other things can be a bit tedious but it is definitely the best way to play ff7. In the original, there are no voices, so there is always a piece of beautiful music on the background. Also, the complete remake game probably will take at least 5 years more to be released.

If existence were so boring as to not be continuous and fundamental to the interwoven fabric of the void than There would be no reason for me to be here now. I am here because even if i dont remember, all that makes me what i am in this time was here from the universes inception, it was involved in its creation. I was there before, i cannot see it, whatever it is, but if all we do in life is wish for another chance to enjoy those old memories from that old foggy lense, ignorant, unaware of thw future, than we do it because we had before only weve forgotten. Destinty changes, but its written in iterations by the primprdial impressions we collect beneath our consiousness.

Well done playing one of my favorite songs from my all-time favorite game, AND composer! Uematsu would be proud. And I LOVE the piano collections! I had the album on CD and listened to it on my antiskip Sony Discman on repeat on a plane when I moved to a new state about 13 years ago. And this was a song I kept coming back to...Of course I loved the OST version as well, but this was an amazing arrangement! Such fond memories of Kalm and my first ever playthrough of the game...and that world map - just standing there so I could hear the main theme over and over again! Lol :)
