How much oil do you use, and how long does it seem to last?

How can you keep the beads from slipping off the top??? Thinking of something to add at the top knot….ideas???
Beads with smaller holes would work. Sometimes I use fabric glue, maybe a glob of it under one more smaller bead. I'm going to try it right now.
