It's sad that there's not much information about her and pageant commentators often ignore her contribution to South African pageantry.
We all love Kerishnee even in Black and Coloured households. She won in 1997 I was only five years old and my mom loved her so much. She is still one of the amazing winners ever.

Well a certain audience within the Sun City superbowl and a certain audience across South Africa did not felt Jacqui deserved to be Miss SA '93. The archives of telephones in many radio and TV stations at the SABC can support my statement.
Many cared back then in 1993 and we still do care even now in 2020. That's why Jacqui's win will forever be a ground breaking moment in the history of the competition. To all those black women who were not allowed to participate in the Miss SA competition from 1956 until 1992 knows exactly where my sentiment come from✌️.
The first black Miss SA 1993, Jacqui Mofokeng & the 3rd black Miss SA 1996, Peggy-Sue Khumalo were not there 😔. Peggy’s husband, Xolani Gwala, a popular broadcaster was suffering from cancer. He sadly passed away in 2019. He was well-loved.

Loved the Miss SA show as a child. My cousin was named after a miss SA of the year at my suggestion. Letitia Strydom ( might have spelling wrong) . She was named Latasha. As an adult I'm no longer lured by the glamour and haven't. watched in 30 ywars. Still must say these women are all gorgeous.
Standards of beauty around the world have always focused on the "exceptional" and not the real. Real is ordinary. Models and even regular women have to compete against what is a fantasy. Hence the long history of makeup, corsetry, foot binding, and all the rest.

They did not give Margaret Gardiner a bouquet of flowers and showed “Miss Universe”, “Tide”, “Gleem”, “Prell Shampoo” all over her face.
Kitty Higgins was my neighbour when I was a little girl. I don't know in which year she was Miss South Africa. She gave me her Maltese poodle dog Potsie when she moved away
I used to ride the school bus with Sandra De Meyer in the 70s when she was at Afrikaanse Hoerskool Durban Noord and I am surprised that she has aged extremely well.
Very historical! Worth noting that the country only crowned whites in the 1st decades and then became more inclusive starting in the 90s. Krishna neiker & sonia raciti didnt age a bit since their wins in the 90s 😮. No wonder both queens placed in both universe and world.
Their was a bit of controversy around having title holders from pre 1994. Title holders of the Miss Africa South (reserved for black SA women) felt Miss South Africa winners from pre 1994 did not deserve to be part of the jubilee celebration. Some missing winners like Peggy Sue, Jacqui Mofokeng etc may have chosen to stay clear of the event entirely.
Because they were only allowed to enter from 1992. It was monumental then & there was a lot of hate from those who were not used to black beauty... in Africa ! Pity the 1st black Ms South Africa (1993) did not attend on this special day.
