Nice video. Helpful to see how the arms click in. Any tips on how to safely and easy remove the red and green lines from the shoulder joint? The green line is especially tough to get out... To the point that I think I might break it if I put any harder. 😮 Thanks
AWESOME! The features they were able to pack in at this price point is AMAZING! If people complain about the price they either (1) don't understand what they are getting or (2) they don't understand economics. Well done Dan. I just got almost all of my Lions yesterday. I'm just waiting for the Blue Lion. These things are HUGE and very impressive in hand.
I was able to pick this set up for Christmas. So far I got the black lion and the blue one, the others should be here tomorrow. I always wanted a set as a kid but it wasn't really something my parents would buy for me. I'm so glad you covered it and that you enjoy it too. EDIT: BE CAREFUL TAKING THE SHIELD OFF THE FIRST TIME! Mine was jammed in there hard from the factory and ended up snapping the post as I was trying to get it off. I will superglue it back on and it should be fine (or I'll buy another green lion) but I just wanted to warn others.
I can't wait to get my own Voltron and to put it with all my Combiner Wars Transformers because it may come form a diffirent company, but it is clearly decided to in scale all played with those guys. And I love Playmates for doing that.
Looks awesome! I found the role play toys at my Target today but still looking for these. Glad they turned out so well. My son really wants one and now so do I.
The great thing is that Playmates made the classic Voltron with the same tech inside it, started seeing them pop up at Walmart and Target. It even resembles that Soul of Chogokin one that recently came out. If you do get them Dan you NEED to review it. Would love to hear your thoughts on it.
I just got the black lion. He's a beast. Only wish his head swiveled and his shoulders articulated a little more. Great video. Excited to complete the set. They seem to be sold out everywhere unless they are releasing them in waves????
just picked up all 5 lions at Target and my God I'm impressed. I love em. grew up on the original series never got to own a Voltron..until now. its magnificent and for the price so worth it and so much fun. I'm excited to see what else they come out with like Robeasts and Gala Empire characters, vehicles, weapons. I hope to see the vehicle version of Voltron I'd buy that immediately to :)
Pixel Dan, great review my friend! As someone in his late 30s who thought he left TF G1, and Voltron behind in his childhood to move onto more "mature" pursuits, I have to say, when I watched season one of the new DreamWorks/Netflix Voltron Series, I was totally blown away! I mean holy cow! Not only was it a well written re-imaging and something that kids would enjoy, it also latches on to adults Who were fans of the original as well! As soon as the series ended I was wondering if there was going to be a really awesome toy line, and was disappointed when I did not see it. Now with the release of season two (which I just binge watched and now I am bummed that there is not a season three yet LOL ) I see the release of this really well designed toy. When I looked it up on the Internet, the details on these lions were lackluster. It was only when I completed watching your review that really helped to showcase the amazing value and quality of this toy line...I mean what a really well designed, robust, and detailed toy. On top of that, the price point is something that parents can afford! They really hit the mark on this. I wish that the wings formed the shield however like in the series... but, again still such a minor issue to such a really well-thought-out piece. Great job again on your review, very well done on exploring all aspects with commentary relevant to collectors, Kids, and parents alike. :-).
Pixel Dan *Yo bro on articulation, he has bicep swivels, Thigh swivels, 40° outward hip swing, ankle tilts, and head will look up and down (plus I believe he has wrists but I'm not positive on that)* *PLUS, the leg lions heads will pull out for combined mode stability* ;)
Great video review. I have the set and I think that they did an awesome job on it. I really enjoy each individual figure, and especially when they are combined. The details are really nice, and quite impressive looking in voltron mode. Great job by playmates. Keep doing a great job on the reviews.
I don't think this is in the instructions, but the Yellow and blue Lions' necks pull outward in lion mode and their back piece slides forward. It makes them look more proportional. Don't pull by the head though. Then slide them back for leg mode.
I just got this recently and you neglected to mention that the lion arms are next to impossible to remove once you insert them. I'm in pretty good shape and I had to literally rip them out with two hands to get them out... I can easily see someone accidentally hitting themself in the teeth trying the same...horrible design flaw and makes you not want to go through the trouble of disassembling/reassembling Voltron. Also the paint scratches/defects were pretty bad and noticeable on my Black lion's stomach so quality control doesn't seem too good.
Cool review, Dan. I wish you did a comparison with the new Ultimate Ex Voltron (which I reviewed on my channel) but from your review they seem to be close in size.
Just wanted to say thanks for the video after watching it a billion times with the kid (he requests to watch this comically). I got him this set for his b-day a while back and he was over the moon. He sometimes will complain about the non-existent sloppy paint on his yellow lion as well as exclaiming, "How frigging awesome is that!" when the black lion is calling out the other lions. XD Go to love it.
Excellent review! Sir I have a question. How long do you think this figure would stay on its stability? What I mean is, when it is in Voltron form the front legs of the Blue and Yellow Lion have all the weights or pressure. Do you think the front legs would not get loose as year goes by? I have been dreaming for a Voltron toy since I was a kid (now I am 33). Never had one. I really like the new Voltron and the new design looks great and more powerful compare to the classic one. I have just got the Blue and Green Lion. I am collecting them now. Please give me some more tips. Thank you very much and more power to you!
Not a Voltron big fan, but really liked the Netflix series. However I cannot believe oí can get a toy like this for almost 100 bucks. The sounds while transforming are AMAZING. Makes me wanna get it.
Awesome review Dan! I picked the whole set up at Toys R Us right at the end of December before they were supposed to be released. It is so fun to pose and play with. my only gripe is that I wished Playmates could have made the lights in the eyes of Voltron light up just like the articulated 14" Voltron. Are you gonna pick up & review Toynami's Ultimate Voltron EX? I would like to see a comparison between the two to see if that is worth picking up although the price point is really high...
Great review! Sir, I have a question. Does your green lion open up more easily than the red lion? Because I notice something in my green and red lions. My green lion is easier to open up than my red lion and the red lions more tigher when I close it up from lion form to the arm form. Are you having same issues regarding the green lion? Please let me know. Thank you!
Yup, definitely an impressive toy! I'm sure we'll see action figures of the pilots soon, I assume. I wish the classic Vehicle Voltron would get some love...
Are you going to be at Toyman show? If so you should bring these so I can check them out in person. I cannot find them anywhere in my area. I have tried everywhere. Springfield Toys r us just had the small ones.
Love the toy, hate the fact that I had to paint it because playmates was too cheap to give us what was on the packaging. But yes it is pretty cool!! Great review..
I hope they release a Voltron Vehicle Toys w/c has 15 components. I've checked out other Toy Reviewers reviews of Voltron Lions, wished they release a boxed set to make collecting a lot easier!
What do y'all think about future collector value? I've been getting all the different lions but I'm torn on if I should leave them all unopened and hope to make $$$$ or if I should go ahead and actually enjoy these great toys! Opinions?
NICE!! I'm going to be buying a set for me and my kiddos...lol...only bummer for me is no head articulation... severely limits posing... otherwise this set is great!!
Great review Pixel Dan! Love it as always. How does this scale with the MMPR Legacy megazord? I want to display them together and was wondering if it would look okay!
Also hey dan, would u recommend the Toynami Version, or this new 2017 version? Both are around the same price on eBay and I can't decide! please help! :)
This new Voltron figure looks pretty decent. Although I wish they will make a more higher quality collector version that would come with diecast parts, better paint job, more accessories (missing weps that other Lions use when it's in Voltron form, Pidges giant shield, Hunk's giant laser cannon, lion mouth blades, etc), and slightly better build quality. Right now, I'd have to say THE BEST Voltron figure ever made HANDS DOWN has to be Bandai's most recent released Soul of Chogokin GX-71 Beast King GoLion! If you don't own that one I HIGHLY recommend you buy it! It's around $300 USD but WORTH EVERY PENNY!!
picked up myzax to abit small but a cool lil robeast to add to the new Voltron collection. oh and guys if you got armada Unicron it looks fabulous as a robeast squared off against Voltron. they scale nicely and both look very impressive and a fun lil battle you can play. I know they are in different universes, toys etc but they're your toys so do whatever you want. I'm having a blast with this Voltron a wonderful display and a new collection to begin is always worth the money to a old collector now who grew up on Voltron, Transformers, G.I.Joe, Thundercats, Masters of the Universe, TMNT, Silverhawks, M.A.S.K. Marvel, DC I love the times we live in so many figures and collectibles available now that I can go back in the days of a kid and just enjoy my toys all over again in my own ways :)
The figure is AWSOME I have it and is AMAZING I'm a big Voltron fan since i was a kid and still I'm. I color the face and is starting to look like in the show.
these toys are incredible!!! they blow away the power rangers movie zords with their quality, durability, and paint apps! and those electronics in the combination caught me totally off guard!!! forget the movie megazord!! these are far better!!!!
I don't know about that, Playmates already tried to make adult collector line if their OWN brand and failed miserably. But yeah, this new Voltron is quite good, I can't believe all the toy reviewers who praised the crappy new combined Zord. I have much more respect now for Pixal Dan...
I don't know about that, Playmates already tried to make adult collector line if their OWN brand and failed miserably. But yeah, this new Voltron is quite good, I can't believe all the toy reviewers who praised the crappy new combined Zord. I have much more respect now for Pixal Dan...
You forgot to show his outward leg movement, not that it's the most useful articulation on a toy this big, granted... Personally, given Playmates' recent track record on boys toys, and their lack of experience with robot toys outside of Exo Squad, I came into this expecting nothing, so I'm certainly pleasantly surprised. This thing gives the new combining Power Rangers Movie Megazord a run for its money, and they're the same price!
waiting for weeks now for this to show up down here can't wait...for it...awesome review man...i'll be the same to won't be able to put it down..will be playing with it...unlike my toynami one i can't touch it..it's pretty much a shelf piece touch it and it's just going to be flinging everywhere....
let me just say season 2 of Voltron is a must watch mind blowing amazingly done and it going to make the toys a must have in 2017 I just gotten mine and the only place that have them is Target toys r us don't even have them yet not even Walmart and I think the in year to come the people whom didn't get them they are going to be just a mad case
FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY found them. All I saw for months were those lame basic non combining ones. They just got a whole shipment of them in at the local Toys R Us and of course i bought em all. And they weren't cheap, set me back about $128 all together. For five toys.. that's not chump change. But in the end I feel its worth it. Its a once time purchase and these are huge toys not the little basics that you can get for 10 bucks a pop as it is. I thought these were going to be as hard to find as the NES Classic has been. Great toys and really captures the feel of the one seen in the new series well. Save up though if you want to get these. They didn't have many left when I saw em so they are still a hot item it would seem. But at least they are truly out there now to pick up.
Does anyone that has this know if the entire portion covering the yellow lion face is removal, does have to be made to be removal but with mod or screws does it look removable, and also the same with the red part on the blue lion does it look like you can remove that as well .?
BlitzkriegOmega agreed, though it kinda makes sense. Because, as you are probably already aware, the shield in this version is formed by the wings coming off the back and producing a rectangle beam for the wings to attach too. Probably jump up in price for something like that.
batsugun2021 Im receiving SOC Voltron this Wednesday (+TakaraTomy Ginrai & Brainstorm AND Nico Robin & Nami). I'm a full time reviewer & will be reviewing Soul of Chogokin Voltron next week. :) I shoot in 1080/60, been adult collector since 1996 (non stop) so have LOTS to review & show still, even know ive put up about 400 reviews in the year I been active on YT so far. :P And thats barely 1% of my collection. My followers & viewers seems to really like my style & ppl that come by new seem to give me really nice feedback. I didn't do trades, like sub for sub. I earned ALL my subscribers through my work & bc I didn't know anyone when I started and/or wasn't on Social Media ever IML until August 2016, it took a little bit to get noticed. But I've tripled my subs since September & I stand by work while others swear by it. It's worth checking out. (few examples of things i reviewed would be Comicave Studios Optimus Prime, ShMonsterarts Resurgence Shin, & all the cartoon TakaraTomy Transformers figures. ect.) I stay very active & do NEW & old/classic figures both.. Check me out if you like, & if u like what you see dont forget to subscribe and come back for Voltron. Peace yo
The best part of this video is seeing and hearing your excitement!
Hey Dan! The heads and necks on the Blue and Yellow Lions slide in and out. Great review!
Two things that bummed me, The wings dont come off to form a sheild, and It doesn't have a shoulder cannon.
Nice video.
Helpful to see how the arms click in.
Any tips on how to safely and easy remove the red and green lines from the shoulder joint?
The green line is especially tough to get out... To the point that I think I might break it if I put any harder. 😮
Thanks
"so i'm gonna flip him off" Pixel Dan i'm so shocked you would do that xD

Wow. Those are very well done. I really dig the new series.
AWESOME! The features they were able to pack in at this price point is AMAZING! Super excited for these toys! Can't wait 'til season two releases!
Voltron: the original BAF.
Now I need to watch the show to have an actual reason to actually want this.
Ben_ToaofFire the show is awesome dude
Johnathan Cuda I know. I binged it in like, a day.
Ben_ToaofFire I binched it in the first episode I was like the animation the plot everything is awesome!!
Ben_ToaofFire the show is 2 amazing can't tell you the ending but u going to be like wow it's like star Wars they tell how everything became
Ben_ToaofFire this series of voltron was the only reason I got Netflix & im not that big of a voltron fan. Series is dam good👍
The joy this toy brings is amazing. You look so happy with it. I too enjoy the electronics and this set. Nice review. Thanks for sharing.
The toys look awesome, but i am disappointed that the voices dont match the cartoon
This looks amazing!!!!! I am so excited to pick these lions up! The show is awesome!
I was able to pick this set up for Christmas. So far I got the black lion and the blue one, the others should be here tomorrow. I always wanted a set as a kid but it wasn't really something my parents would buy for me. I'm so glad you covered it and that you enjoy it too.

For us collectors where happy to have this and the price point is actually good. I still need red and green and will be buying this weekend.
just picked up all 5 lions from target and I'm really surprised about how big they are, theyre giant in person and pretty frickin cool
Not into Voltron , never watched any of the shows but I gotta say this looks really well made and really cool !!
Nice Voltron!
I was hoping they would do the toy the same justice they did in the show.
The great thing is that Playmates made the classic Voltron with the same tech inside it, started seeing them pop up at Walmart and Target. It even resembles that Soul of Chogokin one that recently came out. If you do get them Dan you NEED to review it. Would love to hear your thoughts on it.

All he sounds are a huge surprise. Thanks for the review!
Great review, but have they mentioned making the paladins as well?
just picked up all 5 lions at Target and my God I'm impressed. What a great release. OG vintage thumbs up!
Pixel Dan, great review my friend! Ralph Reuss i said the same thing with the new netflix show...i grew up watching the 80s one but like the new show!
Love the NETFLIX SERIES!!
Great review! I really love mine, aside from a few minor areas where I think articulation would have been a bit nice, he's just a blast!
20:28 "i'm gonna go ahead and flip him off"you're a brave soul Dan..... flipping off Voltron...... XD
I really hope they release these in the uk because I am been looking for a set of cool lion robots to put on my display shelf
Great video review. I have the set and I think that they did an awesome job on it. I really enjoy each individual figure, and especially when they are combined. The details are really nice, and quite impressive looking in voltron mode. Great job by playmates. Keep doing a great job on the reviews.

Holy crap that's awesome mainly because of the sound effects!

Please give me some more tips. Thank you very much and more power to you!
Awesome review video. How do you unplug the red and green lions? I can't seem to unlock them...😡
Great video. I've been waiting for these to come out. Do you have the original die cast Voltron set? If so can you review it?
I bought the full box set at ToysRUs for my 7yo’s birthday. He loves it as much as I loved my Diecast one as a kid.
Not a Voltron big fan, but really liked the Netflix series. However I cannot believe oí can get a toy like this for almost 100 bucks. The sounds while transforming are AMAZING. Makes me wanna get it.

So excited! I found this complete at a Goodwill for $4.
Great review as usual. I always admired these toys, but actually had any. Good memories of the cartoon, though.
Damn these are toys?
I remember as a kid playing with beast wars figures but this voltron makes me want to buy it
Yup, definitely an impressive toy! I'm sure we'll see action figures of the pilots soon, I assume.
I wish the classic Vehicle Voltron would get some love...
13:37 Ready to form Voltron. Activate interlock. Dynotherms - connected. Infracells - up. Megathrusters are go!
Logan Cracraft Go Voltron Force!
Do the heads on red and green rotate/pivot? Saw these in Target and was excited. Wanted to see a review. Thanks!
Are you going to be at Toyman show? If so you should bring these so I can check them out in person. I cannot find them anywhere in my area. I have tried everywhere. Springfield Toys r us just had the small ones.

I just see this man so excited I'm happy for you collecting mine now I have black already
What do y'all think about future collector value? I've been getting all the different lions but I'm torn on if I should leave them all unopened and hope to make $$$$ or if I should go ahead and actually enjoy these great toys! Opinions?
Maybe two of each so you can do both.
NICE!! I'm going to be buying a set for me and my kiddos...lol...only bummer for me is no head articulation... severely limits posing... otherwise this set is great!!
Pretty sweet loot crate shirt there, Dan.
That is big but it looks like so much fun.
I've been looking for these since you posted the video. I've only found the Black lion
Very nice but the small tails to be an eye sore a bit.
You can pool the head to revel the neck on the blow and the yellow lions
wow, this is exciting! I must have this voltron!
I WANT ONE!!!! where do you get it????😍😍😍
well, I know what I will be purchasing tomorrow. Thanks for the video!
I was at Target last night and saw the black lion on sale for 9 dollars, down from $29.99.
This new Voltron figure looks pretty decent. The lion forms of the blue and yellow ones ned you to pull the neck out... Why haven't many people noticed that
having a lot of trouble separating these arms once attached, do you have any suggestions
Johnathan Cuda Have the arms stretched out in front of Voltron, then push the whole arm toward the chest. The pegs pop right off.
Thanks
Gotta GET it gotta GET it gotta get it GOTTA GET IT GOTTA GET IT GOTTA GET IT GOTTA GET IT!!!! AWESOME video Dan!
Added to Christmas Wish List
Thanks for the video. I was wondering if they were going to make a figure. Now I have to buy it.😂😂😂 Great review, I know you loved making it.

Do you know if they are making robust the size of the combining figure?
hey is there a way to tighten up one of the leg joints on the black lion. It's the flat metal part I believe because the right leg is loose
these toys are incredible!!! they blow away the power rangers movie zords with their quality, durability, and paint apps! and those electronics in the combination caught me totally off guard!!! forget the movie megazord!! these are far better!!!!
Carnoraptor 40 agreed! Was was debating between this and the Movie Megazord and after seeing both in store, there really isn't much comparison.
Carnoraptor 40
Not to mention that this is the retail version aimed at kids. Imagine if they were to create a Collector's or Anniversary Edition?
I don't know about that, Playmates already tried to make adult collector line if their OWN brand and failed miserably. But yeah, this new Voltron is quite good, I can't believe all the toy reviewers who praised the crappy new combined Zord. I have much more respect now for Pixal Dan...

I need this in my life.
Yellow Lion takes the most beating hence the paint issues...
thank you for the awesome review this looks like a most buy.
loving noid in the background
Great review as always
let me just say season 2 of Voltron is a must watch mind blowing amazingly done and it going to make the toys a must have in 2017 I just gotten mine and the only place that have them is Target toys r us don't even have them yet not even Walmart and I think the in year to come the people whom didn't get them they are going to be just a mad case
I found all of them except for red lion stacked in a neat pile in meijer. Now I can't find the red one within 30 miles x.x
I like your shirt Dan
Can you detach the wings to form the shield?
i just have the blue and red lion. just need three more to form voltron!
PREACH IT!!! TOYS ARE MEANT TO BE PLAYED WITH! Be Andy not Al.
*+Abel Caballero* why not both
HOLY CRUD THATS FRICKIN AWESOME😀
Hay pixel dan do you think playmates toys going to make keith and his the others?
Does anyone that has this know if the entire portion covering the yellow lion face is removal, does have to be made to be removal but with mod or screws does it look removable, and also the same with the red part on the blue lion does it look like you can remove that as well .?
I kind of want a Voltron, and while it looks a little different from the original, it is the most affordable one out there.
Alexander Nielsen not really. I am selling a great condition diecast Voltron on ebay for 150. The real vintage OG. Cant beat vintage
Alexander Nielsen Search eBay for "Lionbot" if you want a cheap new old school diecast Voltron.
Awesome review
my only (albiet tiny) gripe with this figure: no shield. I swore Voltron had a shield when it used the Blazing Sword.
BlitzkriegOmega agreed, though it kinda makes sense. Because, as you are probably already aware, the shield in this version is formed by the wings coming off the back and producing a rectangle beam for the wings to attach too. Probably jump up in price for something like that.
Look out Dan, the Noid is back there!
He's waiting for his chance to get that Domino's pizza
are you getting the chogokin Colton from Bandai?
batsugun2021 Im receiving SOC Voltron this Wednesday (+TakaraTomy Ginrai & Brainstorm AND Nico Robin & Nami). Peace yo
