    I think the mother could really help her son by vastly reducing the amount of clothes he has- in consultation with him of course. If he only had four or five pairs of pyjamas instead of twenty five he’d stand a chance of being able to manage them himself. He’s got far too much to expect that he’ll fold them and put them away in a small room.

      You're not wrong. When I release the other two videos of this home and tell more of this family's story, I think you'll understand they have a lot on their plate, but they are working hard to get things under control. That would definitely help him manage things better though, to get rid of some stuff, I totally agree. 😊

      You might be the exception but alot of cleaners set the laundry aside for the homeowners to do. May I suggest that they sort the clothing before they put it away with toss and donate categories or seasonal storage.

    My brother has ADHD. I always had to clean his room as a kid. I find your videos so satisfying! I come from generations of hoarders. As an adult I’ve fought this fight and won. Every season change I try to go through a room to make sure I don’t fall into hoarding. It’ll be a life long struggle but worth the fight. I’d never want to leave my children with a hoard to clean up when I die. Thank you for all you’re doing to help people.

    As a grandmother of 5 young men, 17-28, the boy needs to learn , working alongside with you how to clean and organize his room. He will most likely go back to his previous mess . 2 of my grandsons have adhd, and just need to focus and stay on task until job is completed. You are such a lovely person to help him and others.

    Thanks for helping so many people with ADHD like this teenage young man. Glad he has a job which can help him learn adapting skills. For this room I would suggest a good decluttering with his mother. Then I would find some good under-bed plastic storage units to store many smaller,. lighter things to free the bookcases for his collections and books. Also it looks like his bed should be against the wall with the tall bookcase moved down the wall. Then maybe just a small table or nightstand by the bed to share with the easy chair. This would make the room seem more spacious. Blessings from central Georgia.

    My daughters share a room and both have adhd and I understand the struggle for them to keep it clean and organized. I also have adhd but I also have OCD so I am extremely organized so it’s a struggle to help them keep their space under control. I help them once a month to deep clean their room and try to teach them but it’s still hard. My 3 boys take after me and their bedrooms are immaculate. ADHD really is difficult and takes time to learn how to manage it. Glad you were able to help him get it under control, I’m sure it was a sigh of relief for him, and his mom lol

      @@ABeautifulMessExtremeCle-zl1wp tbh I think I'm more scared of moose then bears! I saw a video of a huge moose chasing a black bear in and out of a river - the bear actually crashed it's way through a plate glass window to get away. Fortunately bears and moose are pretty scarce in the UK, so I think I'm safe lol.

    • @ABeautifulMessExtremeCle-zl1wp
      @ABeautifulMessExtremeCle-zl1wp  9 месяцев назад +1

      @sarahwilks2413 I know. They are beautiful, but can be so scary! I guess the question is, would you rather be stomped to death or ripped to pieces? I think moose probably are slightly scarier just because they aren't as easy to scare away where Bears will usually leave you alone unless you startle them unexpectedly, have food that they want, or you come upon a mom trying to protect her cubs. My husband has gone to Alaska 3 times to do some fishing there and there were bears everywhere. They weren't at all interested in the humans because they had plenty of fish.😊

I appreciate the feedback. I will work on that for sure.😊❤️

    I think I'm eternally grateful that I grew up poor, never really had to deal with too many possessions and for some reason that habit carried through to adulthood. Well, I had one bad habit, my mom never had full sets of anything so during my mid-20s thru mid-60s I had sets of dishes (everyday, Easter, Christmas, and Japanese) and sets of glasses, cups, stemware, flatware, pots and pans, but I've gotten over that and have decluttered down to a minimum (for me) of one daily set (6 place settings) dishes, same with glasses and cups. Got rid of all my baking pans because every store has a bakery. LOL! Last left is my collection of Hall teapots, what to do what to do...

    My suggestion for Him : Is to move the bed to 1 side of the room, and put it up against the wall, it would open up space. I would also suggest getting him a closet organizer kit thang; it comes in different options, a very popular one is the one with hanging racks on the ends with shelves in the middle. They even have some that comes with covers to put over the organizer unit. The closet organizer would store all his clothes in 1 place, and could go on the opposite side of the room up against the wall. The White Bookshelf could also go up against the wall along with the closet organizer, with the chair in the corner. Than the lil dresser could be use for blankets or whatnots, or replace it with a desk.

      I've tried to teach my boys to do it that way and they never could get the hang of it, so they just hang up one shirt at a time. Maybe I will have to try to reteach them now that they are a little older because it's such a timesaver!

    Hi my name is Kelly I am Joe's wife my youngest one has ADHD and he slightly artistic. Is it normal for kids to put things under the beds when I lifted up his mattress? There was so much stuff under his bed he had a crying fit because I took off his Palm patrol sheets. The boys are 5 and 6.
    I hate the bunk bed. Was i bad for lifting up his mattress?

      No, they need to understand the word no, gently at 1st, then keep it consistent. I don't mean no to everything, but when its required, stick with your guns or they will run the house. I found out the hard way. You can give in only if its a special reason, or deserved. Also, have them clean for a period of time, at the same time say 5 days per week. A reward at the end of the week if they finish all 5 days, like go out for Icecream or?? Just ideas, I did a lot of research, its difficult to say no, and they learn how to change your mind if you start giving in. Good luck!

      I don't know what to tell you as every family dynamic is different. I would suggest getting help from an expert/therapist as I don't know enough about how to handle this type of behavior. I'm simply cleaning/organizing to hopefully give people a little lift in their spirits and hopefully help them to feel more at peace so they can work on their mental health. I'm sure there is someone near you who could help and, if the cost is too much, I know there are programs out there to help. Good luck to you!

      Ask them to "help" you clean up their rooms. Then they feel like they are a part of the process. I would do organizing several times a month. I would get them started on a weekly cleaning routine. They need to participate!!! All kids need to learn cleaning and organizing early so they don't have more problems later on in life. It can be very hard with "teens" because they are set in their own ways by then. This is also true with DICIPLINE! Everyone needs discipline not just at school but at home also. Even very young children should be taught to put their toys back where they got them. Yes,they should be in a tub or bin for clean up so everyone can walk into the room. If they have a collection it can be kept in their room nicely put in a display they like. Teach them collections are for favorite things not just to buy one every time you see one. Consider the age and disability or the IQ of the child your working with and how they want their belongings. Most importantly-try to make an example of your own personal belongings. Clean and organize areas on a monthly basis. You will be very suprised by how much trash and junk you have somehow acquired. From someone who works with special needs kids of all ages and even adults if they ask for help. ❤ Be patient with yourself and these kids as they are learning from you! Set a good example. 👍

      I tried a different one first, but it didn't work very well. There was a great deal on this one, so I decided to spend a little more for a better mic and it really works well. Super easy to set up, too. It's just a USB plug-in.

    You did a great job, but this boy needs to be taught some skills and habits unless he wants to end up on an episode of "Hoarders."
    He can't keep adding objects to a space without removing anything and expect to be able to keep the space tidy. That's just physics.
    PS Books belong in the bookcase, not in bins. A simple wall-mounted shelf could take care of the tchotshkes.

    • @ABeautifulMessExtremeCle-zl1wp
      @ABeautifulMessExtremeCle-zl1wp  Год назад +2

      You are right. The whole family is learning new habits. I will have two more videos of this house actually (the living room and kitchen) because it also needed a lot of work. I'll tell you more of their story when I release those videos. The bin for the books was temporary storage. They are working on getting rid of a bunch of stuff, so I moved those books to an area of the house where they are sorting through stuff and deciding what to keep and what to get rid of. And, definitely, a shelf would be great for the "tchotshkes." I love that word!
