Vaxell here and yes! You do fight a really big beast when this song plays! But you're in a cave sort of under that big castle. (Spoilers ahead) It is royal considering that the King and Queen to be are fighting a dragon God gone mad, all while all the characters you managed to get through the game alive (there is permadeath for your characters if they die in Fire Emblems, that's kind of their shtick) begin the battle with unique voicelines to get you ready and emotional for one of the hardest and longest fights in the game. The piano in the back really goes crazy for how low the volume was mixed, but it really serves its purpose, and I also love how the main melody gets played by almost all the main instruments throughout the song, with each giving a different vibe and take on the scene in which this song is playing. Your next request from Fire Emblem is with 100% certainty God Shattering Star, which WILL blow your socks off, and more (wink). I'd be surprised if it's any other song. Thanks for the amazing reaction as always!
Awesome seeing Twilight of the Gods being reacted to, the reason the melody is strong is the original version of the song was a NES chip tone from Fire Emblem Gaiden or FE2's final map theme. They just took the chip tone from the old NES game and turned it into this wonderful song.
Every fire emblem has a great OST. This is the 15th one btw so yeah there are a lot of games in the series. I think my favorite osts in the series come from 6, 9, or 10 but honestly almost all of them are fantastic
@@rinnnnnnnnnnrinRinOnishi The remixes of the first ones from the remakes are prety good at least. Stuff like Dark Emperor Hardin and Tearing Shadows are great from the Marth games and I think the Echoes soundtrack speaks for itself.
Fire Emblem has actually 16 entries now and this is the Remake of the Second Fire Emblem Game, which was never released outside of Japan. This Title has arguably the best overall OST and the best Character Art in the series, but the gameplay is a bit too close to the oldschool roots for most veterans of the series. Overall the games usually have very short battle themes and longer Map battle themes. The newest entry has a cool trick where the battle theme is the map theme but pummed up to the max and it seemlesly transitions back and forth between chill map theme and cool battle theme. "God Shattering Star" from Fire Emblem Three Houses is the most viewed OST from the series on youtube, also a final map theme like this one.
Ooooh! I didn't think SOV would be your first Fire Emblem, that's great and makes me happy! Especially because it has the best artwork direction in the series, imo :D Also, this is one of the songs I don't know about because I haven't made it far in this game yet, but one day I will be able to be where this songs plays! And one of the few times I just recommend something through comments (because my personal list is already too long): "The Heritors of Arcadia" is the ending theme of this game, both the English and the Japanese versions are really really beautiful ♥
You nailed the royalty bit. Both of the main characters are royalty of two different Kingdoms - they are in the image. Both were separated from birth and hidden away in two different parts of the world only to grow up and not realize who they really are (well, one of them knew, the other had to figure it out on his journey). It is interesting that you said fighting in the sky - it's pretty close. You fight a god at the end of the game and while that god is on land, it is a dragon. It also takes place in a castle, so again that royalty connection shows up.
I know I am very late with this (just found your channel, been watching a bunch of videos, you're awesome!) but this game and its OST are based on a 1992 NES (or more accurately, Famicom) game called Fire Emblem Gaiden. As such, most of the tracks in Echoes: SoV, including this one, are actually arrangements of 8-bit compositions from back in the day. Just blows my mind how these simple melodies were able to be turned into huge pieces like this one. The Gaiden version of this one is called Battle Map 5/Final Map, if you ever wanted to listen to this track's origins :)
It's amazes me how often you hit the nail on the head when you mention how a song makes you feel. This song is the climax of the game and I love it so much. All of the Fire Emblem games are masterpieces with amazing music. There are a lot of tribal drums in their big hits.
The Fire Emblem series in general has great OSts, and the one for Echoes is phenomenal. I would recommend listening to more of that ^^ And I would love your reaction to "Don't speak her name!" from FE Awakening.
Most Fire Emblems are basically standalones overall, although a few're linked or direct sequels. But the one thing they basically all have in common? AMAZING music.
Glad you enjoyed this. Fire emblem echoes is probably the peak of fire emblem in art direction. Highly recommend a playthrough ;) the series is done by Nintendo’s Intelligent Systems.
Man I have been looking forward to this one. I don't think it's too hyperbolic to say that the modern Fire Emblem games have some of the most well-composed music in the entire industry. There are a couple of sequels and games that are set in the same world as the previous one but the deal with Fire Emblem is that it's more like Final Fantasy in that most of the games are separate with different characters and stories.
Okay I know this is an old video, and you probably won't read this, but there is one thing I don't see in the comments pertaining to what you said about the developers putting a lot of effort into this game. Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia is a remake of Fire Emblem Gaiden, the second game in the franchise. One particular man used to spend lots of time with his dad playing Fire Emblem Gaiden back when he was a kid, and had such dear memories of it that later when his dad got buried, he put a copy of the game in his coffin. This same person now works for Intelligent Systems, the studio behind the Fire Emblem series, and was put in a leading position for the development of Shadows of Valentia. If any game can be called a 'passion project', this would be it.
Oh man! Fire Emblem is one of my favourite game series, the soundtracks always absolutely slap. It’s been mentioned plenty before in the comments, but this was a fairly recent release, and was actually a remake of the second ever game in the series, Gaiden, which released in 1992. You should totally check out the original version of the track in your own time, it’s incredible to see how far music in games has come in terms of orchestration. Also, definitely check out God Shattering Star form Fire Emblem: Three Houses, it’s the most recent entry in the series and this song in particular absolutely blew up when it was released, for good reason.
Glad to see you checking out Fire Emblem. I grew up with the GBA games and Path of Radiance/Radiant Dawn back in the mid 2000s, so those games will always be my favorites. if I was to recommend a song from that era to listen to, maybe Eternal Bond from Radiant Dawn? The battle themes are all great too, but they are mostly 20-30 second loops due to the nature of the gameplay.
There's are a lot of good fire emblem tracks. If you want something a bit more calm, more akin to ff's dragonsong, each games end credits had a vocal song, and they are all very high quality. My favorite os "Heritors of Arcadia", which is from this game. The other two are "Lost in Thoughts" and "edge of dawn" though the third one you have to specify credits version
Fire Emble Echoes : Shadows of Valentia is the 15th installment of the long running franchise, the Fire Emblem series. And this game in particular is a remake to the 2nd Fire Emblem (Fire Emblem Gaiden) with added story to spice it up even more. Glad you enjoyed the track, and I hope you look into this series more as there will be more Fire Emblem Request coming.
Fire Emblem is a strategy RPG series that has been going since 1991. There’s 16 games in the main series, with the most recent being Fire Emblem Three Houses on the Switch. It’s sort of an anthology series where there’s many different completely disconnected worlds and stories between the games. Unfortunately FE2-6 and 12 have never been released in the west. And FE1 was only available in the west for a limited time last year.
The music of this game is produced by Takeru Kanazaki & Yasuhisa Baba Takeru Kanazaki is a video game composer at Intelligent Systems. He has worked mainly on games of the WarioWare and Fire Emblem franchises.Fellow composer Hiroki Morishita and him are commonly referred to as the "Cavalier Duo", with Kanazaki being the green cavalier.
Well you got the fighting the big monster part right, but it's underground not in the sky. Also you're right it is Nintendo. Fire Emblem is actually a really old franchise it's one of the oldest Tactics RPGs ever, but the games were Japan only until like the GBA and only really blew up outside of Japan in 2013.
Would be fun to see him listen to the original version of this song on stream or something one day. Not even so much as a reaction but to see how much they transformed this song from what it originally was, since it is an surprisingly faithful orchestrated remake of a the final boss theme from the original version of this game, which came out in 1992 on the NES (technically Famicom since it never released outside of Japan) Also, your comments about the image and how cool you though it was is pretty interesting, because many people consider this game to be one of if not the best in the series, entirely due to how good the presentation of the game was, mostly the art style, music, and voice acting. Otherwise the game was gameplay-wise almost a 1:1 remake of the 1992 game with an incredible new coat of paint and more fleshed-out story.
Fire Emblem music yes!!! I hope you'll react to more FE music, another soundtrack from SOV is Scions Dance in Purgatory! A lot of piano and it's a bit chaotic, but it all makes sense due to the battle where this plays.
As a few people said, the title was Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia. It is a remake/remaster of the original which was Japanese only. Some FE games were released here while others weren't. FE is a turn based strategy that has permadeath(so lots of restarting if you suck at strategy like me lol) but newer games have a casual mode where you can keep your characters after the fight is over, and a Phoenix mode where they don't die at all. FE games are similar to FF in the fact that each game is mostly it's own story although some of the games may have a reappearance of characters. So Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn are one set. SoV is it's own. Awakening is it's own, Fates has 3 storylines to it. Obviously there's more but I can't remember everything attached to what 😅 My FE game suggestion is Path of Radiance or Radiant Dawn(Which are my faves!) From PoR: Plight! ; The Black Knight ; Life Returns(not the live version) From RD: Eternal Bond ; A Grasping Truth ; Galdr of Rebirth
The title of the song, Twilight of the Gods, is a very fitting name because this battle is the final one of the game, and it represents the end of an era. The humans have been in the care gods for centuries, which many consider a blessing, but in that battle that age ends and the humans learn to stand by themselves (hence a Twilight of the Gods). And the music has mixes of many instruments, representing the type of people you gather to accomplish your mission, from royalty through peasants, from soldiers and mercenaries through cleregy and schoolars. Different people with only one goal in mind, dethrone the Gods and free humankind.
Yesss Fire Emblem is one of my all time favorite game series and Shadows of Valentia was such a good remake/entry. Hope to see more FE reactions in the future! Fire Emblem is similar to Final Fantasy in the vein that most games are not directly related to each other from game to game. There are definitely entries that are sequels to each other, or share the same universe but there is a very large gap of time between them so it's not necessary to have played the other title. Often, the other games are legends or myths in others. Also "Echoes" is meant to denote remake status. So far, this is the only Echoes title, but it's a remake of the 2nd game (originally called Gaiden) from way back in 1992 which was not ever released outside of Japan. Fire Emblem pioneered the turn-based tactical strategy game genre.
You should check out, even just off camera for a few seconds, the original NES version of this song: "Fire Emblem Gaiden - Final Map theme" Just to see what the composer of this remake was working with, and an outright awesome chiptune in its own right.
Fire Emblem might be the flagship strategy game for Nintendo now but I really wish the studio that makes them would just take a freaken break and make a new "Wars" game already.
Interesting you caught things like royalty, marching forward, big beast in the sky, etc. Spoilers: This game revolves around two young adults that lead two armies with two goals. The man grows up a humble villager but raises to the occasion to defeat an "evil empire". The woman is a priestess that sets out to find her missing goddess. @@proudlarry8225 he specifically asks not to request song covers
I think he should just react to all Final Battle songs in the games since Awakening cause every one of them is so damn good😍
If he hears this, he has to hear Lord of a Dead Empire in this game. That song walked so God Shattering Star could run.
This game is full of incredible songs, Scions dance in purgatory is pure bliss.
