      Did they put a new engine in it right after you bought it is what I'm seeing in your comment and now it has more problems again how many miles on your car now. I'm kind off worried that when they replaced our engine it may go out again. Thanks please let me know .

      Your 3.5 Edge also has a major problem waiting to happen. Ford put an internal water pump on them that works off the timing chain and when they fail they dump, and they will eventually fail all the coolant into the oil which can destroy the main bearings and engine. It is a major job to replace this water pump as you have to remove the front cover of the engine. Most mechanics say you have to remove the engine from the car making this is a $2,000+ repair if you cannot do it yourself. I traded my 2013 Ford Taurus with a 3.5 for a 2016 Ford Edge 2.0 ecoboost when I discovered this issue but now It seems I jumped out of the frying pan into the fire.

      @tonybradley2801 Hi Tony our Edge has the 2.0 not the 3.5 but still was lucky with the warranty this is the old style 2.0 they went back with a different block earlier design which I understand was a great 2.0 they had no problems with.

    I have a 2017 Lincoln MKZ, same Goddamned engine! Here's the thing: I just got it back from the Ford/Lincoln dealer for an entire transmission replacement due to failed stud welds on the torque converter and metal shavings all throughout. I had concerns over rough and delayed shifting once I began driving it regularly early on, but when I brought it back in for an oil change and I mentioned it, I was told, "Oh, yeah....that's perfectly normal for this car!" Well, I knew it wasn't "normal," I persisted, and they just replaced the transmission.
    SO! I just got it back 2 weeks ago, and everything seems to be fine with the transmission; however, as I was waiting in line at the pharmacy the other day, it began to idle very roughly, so much so that I thought it was going to stall, so I put it in Neutral and revved it a bit, and then it seemed ok, but then today, it did it again....and again....and again! I got home and opened the hood, and I immediately noticed that the coolant overflow reservoir was very low, well below the mark on the side. I let it sit for several hours and I just checked it again, because I wanted to look at it after it cooled way down, and the level is even lower than it was earlier.
    Here's the thing; I bought it in March of 2021, it was a "Certified Pre-owned," with 42,000 miles on it, and it now has 60,000 miles on it, so the mileage is low, especially for the year; they told me I was covered "bumper-to-bumper for 4 years, and I even paid extra for even more warranty protection. I have maintained this car religiously and like clockwork, and I already know what's coming: ANOTHER big fight over a new engine, but....I'm going to do it, I have no choice; it's either that or walk because I cannot afford a new car right now. I am permanently and totally disabled and my only income is SSDI, so I barely get by as it is....I will be 60 y/o next month, and I am just too damned bent and old for this shit all over again! I hope to Hell I don't get the runaround until the warranty is completely expired before they'll admit that it was a bad engine before I even got it!!

    A tiny 2L in such a large and heavy vehicle like this is just begging for trouble. An suv like that should have a decent sized V6 at least. While the turbo makes up for displacement to a certain extent- at the end of the day you still have a highly stressed engine which will not last as long as a larger one will...

    • @hitchinupmovinon8386
      @hitchinupmovinon8386  11 месяцев назад +3

      I agree with you but our Edge is only 2 wheel drive and gets 28 mpg 2.0 will boost to over 100mph so easy, I know that the turbo is most of that but I had a Chrysler LeBaron with a 4cyl turbo and it had over 250,000 miles on it so if the engine is maintained you should be able to get over 120,000 miles with ease. But Ford messed up.this engine trying to boost it to much and trying to keep it cool. We are still happy with the car but I think they should extend the warranty up to 100,000 miles because the day after they put the new engine in it it was out of warranty. Thanks for your comment and good luck if you own anything that has the 1.6 or 2.0 engine in it.

      @@hitchinupmovinon8386 Thank You! I own a 2012 Ford Fusion sel with the 3.0 Duratec V6. It has been a great running car. I take care of it and plan on keeping it for the rest of my life lol! I prefer this older car over any new one nowadays..My daughter drives one with the 2.5L 4cyl. They both have been super reliable. Neither car has yet to show a check engine light and are over 126,000 miles. Knock on wood! 😂 The V6 car still has plenty of power and looks new. I am a bit dismayed at the modern trend of manufacturers installing small displacement engines with turbos into large vehicles. Turbo engines are high performance engines and require regular servicing even when driven gently. I can't see how such a small engine operates gently when it has to move such a large vehicle. I am not picking on Ford or this model Edge. It seems all manufacturers are doing this. I wish you all the best with your new engine. I understand Ford went back to the older duratec 2.0 block design. That is a great engine too. ✌

    My wife's 2016 Ford Edge finally died after 196K miles back in July of this year. I guess we were lucky to go that far. Around 90K miles in early 2021, she started getting cylinder #3 misfire faults. Took it to the shop & they changed all of the spark plugs. Okay, figured nearing 100K, it probably was due. Around 135K & 159K, it did it again? Shop changed plugs both time's & coil pack again. I thought that it was odd going through spark plugs & getting cylinder #3 misfires. Shop couldn't figure it out? Never had coolant loss unless they were topping it off during oil changes?? This July it finally went. Wife was blowing white smoke out of exhaust, with coolant loss in the reservoir. Replacement Jasper motor is $7K!! They're on hold right now, due to Ford? I'm looking to do an engine & tranny swap if it's possible? Looking for a wrecked 2020 - 2023 drive train. @@nic_red02 I did the research on my wife's 2017 Escape SE 2.0. There were no squawk's about that engine when purchases. But as time went on, FMC found that their block design was a fail. Their line of Eco-Boost engines were sucking water between the cylinders. That would have to be a massive recall and financial loss for FMC to replace faulty short blocks that were leaking coolants. The Escape only has 39,000 miles and I've changed the anti-freeze, retightened the head bolts and prayed for a clean exhaust pipe. Keeping our Escape for 10 years will kill my resale value, I think FMC should admit there inherit problems and replace these engines free of cost to the original owners.

      If it's the new block style the surface on the block where it meets the head should be different than the original giving it more surface for the Head Gasket to seal so it should of taken care of the problem but you never know what ford might have done because of all the warranty claims they are going to have to cover . In other words, the head will not stay flat on the block, causing failure. Oil and water isn't bad. Water just causes rust. But antifreeze in motor oil will wipe the bearings in no time flat.
