We hope you enjoyed exploring the peaceful, yet visually luxurious Lavender Bay House by Tobias Partners, nestled in one of Sydney's most iconic settings. The way this home harmonises expansive views of the Harbour Bridge, Luna Park, and the Opera House with intimate, tranquil spaces is truly inspiring. Lavender Bay House is also featured in our latest hardcover book series, Habitats: City, Coast, and Forest, where we explore remarkable spaces like Lavender Bay House that harmonise with their natural surroundings, see here for more: thelocalproject.com.au/product/habitats-city-coast-forest/
just the offspring of the top 0.01% i guess. i agree with this sentiment. it's beautiful, but also unattainable. i think we just need to remember not to covet, but take whatever lessons practical for us to apply in our own lives.
This house in Sydney is truly special! Thank you so much for the opportunity to view it-I would never have had the chance otherwise. I really appreciate it!
Landscaping and location are excellent. There are part of the house that are good, like the glazing. But overall it feels like it hasn’t been moved into, or the spaces are too large for their uses. Which results in a cold or awkward feeling.
What I like about this home is how they maximize the space. From the lot itself, the floor plan, the design up to the view really make this home very stunning! Who knows you can have a home like this in the middle of the city? Thank you Local Project
Cracker of a building, beautifully designed and wished I had enough to buy it with one of the best views location wise I have seen, but the home does not feel like a home, feels and looks like a cold and detached set of rooms to me.
How to get that cave-like apartment feel in a house. Bedroom is an example where like enters from both sides but far enough away from each window that it feels like it is all from one side. Which is common to apartments. Worth a rewatch to understand how light is working in the building. Most problems like this can be solved with post-build lighting choices. But better to deal with it during design. This all might be due to the way and time they filmed it.
How amazing is this masterpiece with prime location and one of the best views in the world. Somehow tho its lacking some warmth to this and it doesn’t have much of the feeling of ‘home’ to me, im sure the family who live there will make it home tho.
While I think this looks stunning, I currently live is a double brick home with two suspended concrete floors, while it's nice in the summer, it's absolutely freezing in the winter, I assume from the location of this house they have installed $200,000 of heating hidden in the concrete or this house will be like an icebox in the winter.
I’d imagine that there is a base that is pre made, precision welded, likely stainless steel that’s embedded into the concrete and that the finished sleeves are a turned, anodised material that screw fit to to the base. I’d like to know how too.
One thing I will never understand in Australia are kitchens with timber floors and bathrooms with no sunlight, even when you can choose not to do this they still choose doing this. Nice architecture for a public institution but not for a home.
Because building homes out of timber like most American homes means you have to replace your home when it burns down or rots. The same reason the only old buildings in LA are downtown where they built with bricks and mortar, the same reason the oldest homes in London are brick, the same reason Rome’s colosseum is still standing, be it brick or stone or cement for concrete, it lasts for hundreds of years, it’s about legacy, not flipping homes.
@@Jimmy_Bee I understand that Jimmy, but my point was most if not all of these homes features use the exact same materials. At some point, it becomes stale IMO.
its more of why is it always exposed concrete? that's the latest fashion statement. I suspect in 10 years from now, they will cover it up with plaster when it will stop looking fashionable and will start looking ugly again.
Agree. I just search the DA on the local council website, here's the DA documents for this build: masterview.northsydney.nsw.gov.au//Application/ApplicationDetails/010.2014.00000215.002/
Looks very plain and uninspired. The materials are great, the location is world class but the house itself is very boring to me. This also does not convey family home to me at all outside of a large kitchen, large living and a grassy backyard. Tobias have done much better work in the past.
Why architects/designers always talk in same tone of voice 😂 depressing and boring. Design of home feels cold and made not for people, there is no personality. And no useful information here like materials, details, floor plan
Zero privacy, boats looking straight into your living room, no front yard, no driveway, tiny lot, exposed concrete style that's going to date horribly. This house will age like milk. Sea level harbor homes are the cheapest of oceanfront homes, not even close to "best view". Around here you can get a similar harborview home to this for $4-5m whilst a real oceanfront home is two to three times that price.

"A family home for a young couple and their young kids" In what world can a young couple with kids afford this in the heart of Sydney?
just the offspring of the top 0.01% i guess.

Yes, that really is a view, and the house is lovely. The owners are a very lucky family.
Every home I’ve loved seeing on RUclips happen to be by Tobias Partners. Amazing!

We're glad you enjoyed it!
absolutely stunning, cant even imagine the feeling of being inside!

A view that can help you have a peace of mind we all need. 💙💙
Very industrial and commercial looking. Sweet place for a conference.
This is absolutely stunning 😍😍!! Well done to all involved 👏👏 Thank you for yet another amazing video!
Absolutely stunning! What a view, you can't put a price on that!

What a view to come home to everyday 🎉

It is absolutely stunning, I really like the design house.

The most iconic views of the city. Lavender Bay truly is one of Sydney's hidden gems.
Le location est magnifique 😊

I assume money was no object for these people
Some scenes remind me of homes in The Great Gatsby movie
I like those pole fences, looks like copper? interested to see how it's done underground.
I’d imagine that there is a base that is pre made, precision welded, likely stainless steel that’s embedded into the concrete and that the finished sleeves are a turned, anodised material that screw fit to to the base. I’d like to know how too.
I don’t even want to know how much that costed. Terrain + arch + construction
1/100th the price of the land.
"young couple"
Good corporate leisure area
I like it! Very very!
Nice🤩
Nice
amazing.
need to have these videos in 4K
beautiful house, just needs a mini casino inside
wow
watching this all the while thinking what sort of people own this and what they do to afford all of it.
A "Young Couple" lol, betting generational wealth.
nice
Take your shoes off please ✨
😍😍😍
Is this property for sale? If yes, price please.

Why is every home concreate?

@@mrvk39 Good point.
I've noticed this too, mostly when architects also do the interior design
urgghh not the first haha
It’s terrible that even on your website you don’t show house plan, cause it’s hard to understand “where what”
It could be due to client confidentiality. The client might have request the architect not to disclose it.
Yeah mate, and also, if you’re a builder like me they don’t want you pinching their design.
Find it on a map. Get the address and look up Local Council Development Applications for Drawings

so that someone else can steal it …duh! 🤤
Very nice but that's Cammeraygal not Gadigal land
Looks very plain and uninspired. The materials are great, the location is world class but the house itself is very boring to me. This also does not convey family home to me at all outside of a large kitchen, large living and a grassy backyard. Tobias have done much better work in the past.
I’d too only partner with Tobias Partners to listen to Nick’s sexy voice
Does anyone know the make of the car?
It looks like a Fiat-Moretti 850 Sportiva.
I think Jim's mowing could do a better job on the law and garden though
This house feels cold and the likes of a museum or a modern corporate building. Definitely not a “home.”
That's a really good view, but the house is pretty average. A bit of a wasted opportunity.
please write me comment by this description I use it on youtube
I'm not so sure about this one.
Why architects/designers always talk in same tone of voice 😂 depressing and boring. Design of home feels cold and made not for people, there is no personality. And no useful information here like materials, details, floor plan
And all that architectural jargons…. so try hard
life in a concrete box. noisy. unforgiving. sharp and cold.
Don’t get the appeal. It looks cold and unwelcoming.
Corporate office vibes. Nothing gives the impression of a family home.
too much stone
Other than the amazing view, I completely agree.
Also agree with these comments.
First🎉
Yawn. All money, no imagination. Kinda ironic it’s looking straight at the opera house.
Zero privacy, boats looking straight into your living room, no front yard, no driveway, tiny lot, exposed concrete style that's going to date horribly. This house will age like milk.
