I have been practice kirtan for a few years and I'm waiting to receive my harmonium. Your channel helps me a lot, hope you will make more videos in the future, thank you!
You are Amazing! For 20 years I couldn't get my harmonium practice started. And you done the breaking-up job so well and today I'm starting. Thank you so much! Please please continue. I want to sing again!
Thank you so much for share this one. I'm trying to learn almost all of your melodies but you are uploading a lot of them, will take me some time, but i'm (as many of us should be) so thankful for your mood of been sharing with such kindness, patience, so detailed... I hope you can understend what i'm trying to say, it's kind of hard sometimes for me to express myself as i'd like in Enlish. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
i'm so glad you added the play-through at the beginning, that helps so much!!! Thanks for you videos, your service is so amazing! I only need this song ever!!!
Happy Hippo you are a brilliant, generous genius. I bought a harmonium because of a retreat with Girish (Spotify). No clue what to do with it so I stared at it and your lessons for a month before opening it! Sat Nam, Aloha, Thank you so much or I'd still be down a harmonium rabbit hole without a bellow!
Thank youuuuuuu!!! I have been learning a lot with your videos. It's my first time with harmonium and you have been helping me a lot!!! I hope the universe give it back in great energy to you!!!
Happy Hippo Harmonium I absolutely love you! Thanks for spreading the love of bhakti and Khrishna Das!! I’ll send some requests soon to keep you motivated!! Tom in UK
Bro trust me you are amazing and you are doing such a great help to people like me who want to be on the right path and want to gets connected to the almighty and music is universal key for the same... Some suggestions ( since you asked ) Like our KD bhai there are lot others ...will share the list. But thankyou from the depth of my heart for making this... God bless you Hare krishna 🙏
Thank you. I'm a beginner and your lessons are so helpfull. Please consider to learn us the mantra "Govindam Ade Purusham". I recently found it back here on you tube. I grew up with this mantra played by my dad on a cassette tape. It is so beautiful...
Thank you sir. Been struggling a bit on the guitar with it. Jaya Siddha Swarup Ananda Paramahansa! Jaya ALL devotees in this great parampara ! Haribol !
Thank you so much for sharing these songs. This really is amazing and easy to follow, and very clear to understand. cant wait for the next video, keep up the good work. Here is a couple of songs I would love you to share when you get time: Sri Argala Stotram/ show me love from kirtan wallah, and By your Grace/Jai Gurudev from heart as wide as the world. Thank you again so so much.
+Nirav Masto Those two songs should not be a problem, I will try my best to have them up by the end of the week. I have some others lined up too - so stay tuned!
Thanks so much for the awesome tutorials is it possible for you to post the words with when the cords are played like you have for some of your other videos ? It helps me a lot with timing and getting the flow I guess , also was a little unclear about the first progression that has 'transitioning g ' in it ? It would be good to see the cords laid out with the words !
Thank you sincerely for sharing your knowledge with us. I only discovered HHH a week or so ago and can already play several KD kirtans/bhajans, with some transition notes and some melody too - huge progress !I'm playing a 1982 casiotone synthesizer with the Bandoneon setting selected which is as near as I can get to a harmonium, but will be buying an Indian instrument soon, so a tutorial along those lines would be great; for example, side pull bellows against "the other" kind, three and a half octave against three and a quarter - is there a better quality sound from the bigger instrument ? And so on...And if I can impose further, Brindavan Hare Ram is a lovely tune providing you can find the time to create a tutorial for us. On namah shivaya. David.
Thank you for sharing these tutorials with us. I am learning these for the ukulele because I cannot find anything else and they work perfectly. I love all the detail you go into and how you say the chord names and stuff like that because I am totally blind, so this helps me out immeasurably. Can you do a tutorial of Homage to Krishna by Deva Premal?
Hey! BIG THANK YOU FOR YOUR WORK! MASSIVE SUPPORT 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 I would love to learn how to play “Antarayaami” by Nina Rao. I see that you where asking for suggestions when you posted this 7 years ago 😅🤞🏼
Hi, thank you for wonderful composition.... Can u please also help on shri krishna chaitanya prabhu nitya nanda, shre advait gadadhar......... I would luv to learn that
Thank you very much for sharing this knowledge. I am curious what tips you have for good posture and how to avoid getting tight on my throat and neck and shoulders, reaching for the air pump and singing...I know it will get easier as I get more familiar. Thank you so much!!! Namaste 🙏🏼🙏🏿🙏🏻🙏🏽🙏🏾🙏💞
For me, it's recognizing they're tight while playing, then loosening. Perhaps some cue on the harmonium would help (like a sticky note, or something that sticks out) Eventually, the body builds a habit of relaxing
This is awesome, and I love all your videos, except I got confused on pt-3 with the hare starting on the "re" with the Am. Where is the rest of it? Is there a rest of it, or is that just the whole part, because in the beginning you played it as Ha-re(Am) Krishna Hare (C) Hare (G). Before you went into progression 4. I think there may be something I am missing.
Namastê! Hi there! In first place thank you very much for your excellent videos! I'd like to ask a question: How do you get such a smooth sound? When I pump the air into the harmonium I get an oscillation in the vibration that I don't hear in your videos. Maybe is the type and/or regulation of the harmonium? Mine is a monoji portable, 2,5 scales. If there are some secrets regarding "smoothness" in the sound production, maybe would be a nice idea for new videos? Again, thank you!
Om and Blessings, I am fairly new to Harmonium and very new to playing music, however I may be able to answer your question... The oscillation sound could very well be the type of harmonium you have, but it could also be how you have your stops situated. The knobs on the front of the harmonium will allow different amounts of air to enter the bellow chambers. I know that with my harmonium I have the first stop out all the way, and then the second one halfway pulled out, this gives mine the smoothest, best sounding drone--in my opinion. Try messing around with yours! Happy playing :)
I have a book harmonium! I can't locate the chords on my harmonium as the keys are not lining up with yours , how do I adapt it ? New player only had three lessons so far these online lessons look great I love Krishna Das just don't know how to adapt it to my harmonium
I'm sorry I don't quite understand exactly what's not working for you. What do you mean by locate the chords? It could be that the version in the book is played in a different key, or that the chords are inverted or expressed differently. If you give me some more info I can help you better. I know the version here works, and I'm sure the version in your book does too, so you could just play them separately.
HappyHippoHarmonium do you have an email I could send a pic of my harmonium the keys seem different to yours? I love your version very eager to learn it it's just the right end of yours starts with two black keys and mine starts with three?
HappyHippoHarmonium hey there have you had an opportunity to think about how I can play this on a mini /book harmonium? Happy to email you a pic of the harmonium itself , wish I'd bought a full size on like yours !
As long as the keys have the same general notes that he's playing in the mantra you should be fine even if the overall number of keys are different. There are many types of harmoniums and a mini/book harmonium should be fine. You need to match them by which notes he is playing rather than where his hand is on the keyboard (i.e. he starts off with a chord that uses A, C, and E). As long as you can identify where A, B, C, D, E, F, G, A, B, C and so forth are on the harmonium (which makes a full octave) then you'll know which notes he uses for each chord and can locate those on your own harmonium.
Hello sir can you pl send the progression of chords along with the song like hare krishna (Am)hare krishna (C)..krishna (f) krishna(C) hare hare(G). This would help us to practice better. You can do it till the end of song with all possible progression to help exactly when to hold a chord and when to change.
Could you please post a link to to the track your replicating or at least direct me to the album as I cant find the correct version. I see this request was asked a couple of years ago so please excuse if I have overlooked the link. Thank you for your gift of presenting such precious tutorials.
Love this! Thank you! This is the first song I’m learning ever on harmonium and you have made it very easy... can you please tell me which album to find this song of Krishna das so I can play along?

Hello Happy Hippo! I would love to learn to play Waltzing my Krishna by Krishna Das on harmonium. So I can play it to my father who is seriously diseased, and whom I took to a KD-concert about 2 years ago. This song had quite an impact on the two of us. Feel free of course - no emo-blackmail intended ; - )
If you could make some beginner tutorials for left handed people, like the one's you have for "scales" and "chords" that would be a major help! I haven't seen anyone who has done this on youtube or anywhere else.
