This was a really fun video, Cyber! Nice bit of lateral thinking on where to intercept this service along its route as well. Sorry to see this service go but at least you've immortalised it for the future with this vlog!
Thank you barrowc, the original idea was to ride the entre line but was persuaded out of it which thanks to the people who persuaded me out of it, came up with this idea.
I'm new to this channel, and it's rare that you get a train vlogger who is genuinely interesting to watch. It only took one vid for you to earn a sub, thanks for this!
Glad you put me clip to goose use! It's a pity the service is being withdrawn as I did have a plan for it. I have enjoyed this video and even Southern didn't cause any problems too!! Looking forward to your next video! COUNTS To Be Honest: 2 Sprinters: 10 Tube Trains: 6
Thanks Tico, I'm not going to lie but this video made me realise on a few things so it was a learning curve that I want to change to future videos and also when departing Oxford and spoke to camera that was out of my comfort zone a bit as even know I was only one at a table seat. It was done in a crowded area and no one bat a eyelid which was shocking.
@@Sim0nTrains I did notice that when filming on trains that no one cares or looks at you, But it's always good to learn new things and add them to your videos :)
i really enjoyed this one and well done for wining the race to Worting and Worthing is a lovely station infact the stations along that line between Havant and Brighton are Lovely but its sad to see a service being withdrawn which has been running for years and years and the GWR services in the west country are very popular and the Portsmouth to Cardiff services are very popular anyway keep up the awesome work
I must admit Simontrains this was a very interesting Vlog indeed and I’m really pleased you managed to beat the other train to Worthing and rejoin that service and then head to Brighton on it a also a brilliant music choice too it went really well with the Vlog and I must say one the best Vlogs you’ve done I’d say it was very enjoyable to watch and I look forward to seeing more and more future Vlogs from yourself carry on being awesome keep up the good work my friend take care and stay safe
See you could do more challenges like this For example, trying to beat Scotrail to Newcastle with Cross Country or LNER Trying to beat The Settle and Carlusle
A brilliant video. Shame the Birighton to Great Malvern service is being withdrawn, I do remmeber spotting this service back when it was operated by Wales and West.
Thanks Simon, I had a hour there because I waited to film the 1702 to Bristol Parkway out and had a Pret Coffee as well but I left at 1712 back to London to catch my train home.
What makes matters worse is that there will now be a gap in departures from Brighton towards Chichester and Havant around 1700hours making a one hour gap between 1630 and 1730 when it is a 30 minute frequency during the rest of the day. Why doesn't Southern introduce a 1700 departure from Brighton? It is a very busy time of day!
I did noticed this myself, there was meant to be a extra service to Portsmouth operated by Southern to replace the 1702 to Bristol but sadly I've seen nothing, also rumours while in Brighton for a railtour yesterday that it GWR may return to Brighton in December ad withdrawing it during the summer is also a crazy move but it part of the service cuts to save money
Think it more of the DFT (Department for Transport) that was involved to cut the service even know what being axed is more busier than the route they're keeping between Great Malvern to Warminster
Great Malvern is quite a pretty lovely station. Didn’t know that you can go to Brighton on Great Western Railway. Maybe they should keep the service or would CrossCountry operate the service and possibly extend it to Eastbourne.
they could not extend service to eastbourne, due to the fact that the only platform that can serve both the west coastway and east coastway lines is platform 3, which can only accommodate 4 carriages when trains have come from the west coastway line. also, to get to the east coastway line from there the train would have to traverse the up and down london lines which are very busy.
@@henryward4180 True. Such a shame that GWR are stopping some of their services and probably going as far as Portsmouth Harbour and/or Portsmouth & Southsea.
There is no chance, as Henry said the only way would have to traverse the up and down London lines which you have to take the train up to Preston Park to reverse into Brighton and then reverse out of Brighton
Why would they completely get rid of this service from Near Wales when actually there's no way of getting to Brighton without having to change at Southampton or some other station OUTSIDE OF LONDON which isn't sensible? I don't think it's a good idea, I personally think they should've changed it to 2 trains per day to Brighton, one from Cardiff as they do the Cardiff to Portsmouth ones, and one from Great Malvern. Forget about Great Malvern to Reading then to Gatwick, They don't need to do more cuttings to the Network as Brighton is forever getting more touristy for people visiting the amazing Coastal Beaches from Afar. GWR run the longest route from anywhere in England or Wales to Brighton currently even if that connection between Reading and Gatwick is good as an alternative, and it should not be cut off. What a complete and utter waste of money, they need to invest, not wipe away vital connections around the South West of England and Wales. Shame on GWR.

A fantastic video simon.
Thank you 😊
Thank you love five :D
Worthing station is 2 minutes from my house. Strange seeing a video on this insignificant blot.
as a shoreham local, it was very strange to see our bridge on a youtube video!
Honestly I was impressed with the view when crossing over the bridge for the first time which is why I've filmed it on the Brighton train.

Great video and great ticket prices too. Good old 158's same as we have in Manchester. They should have kept the old 142's as well top trains!
Thank you Darren

What did you win Simon for winning? Great video.
A ride to Brighton on the Class 158 😂 Thanks Jacob
I would imagine - not enough passengers.
I hardly think any rail company would abandon a profitable route.

Great video Simon. Sadly GWR didn't win the race lol 😂
Well it did as well since a Class 800 took me to London lol Thanks Arnoldspotting Videos
So come on then Great Western boy, who is better? Curt Zouma or the 158
Southern lol
158s don't intentionally abuse animals so I'd put my money on the 158.
£23 in advance is not a bad price to be fair
It isn't when there no advances on the Great Malvern to Brighton
