Your show is definitely one of the most unique projects on RUclips. Everything is explained crystal clear, it's funny af and the reactions that you've gotten other people is priceless! I love how social the show is too, it certainly doesn't have that nerdy magic vibe to it at all. Your the man, Brush! Keep doing what you're doing!
Pay attention to how long they take to deal the cards out. If they do pick 1 or 2, remind them that you might know which card is on top and suggest they pick a deeper number.
Thanks Brian, Your card tricks have been very successful and fun to do to friends and family. Tomorrow i'm going to use one of your awesome cards tricks and present it in front of my class for a how to speech.
For an extra effect I memorize the order of the 12 face cards, so when I'm "spreading through the cards" and I see their card I know whether its the first, second or seventh card, etc. Which gives me the number on the clock they memorized. When I reveal the number they chose and then their card. the reactions have been awesome! This is one of my top 5 favorite card tricks.
I'm sorry but I found this to be the best thing ever! I was doing it with my own deck, I had been randomly cutting it for over an hour, and followed the exact same instructions same as the guy on screen. I had chosen 3, so I laid down the 3 cards and looked at the fourth which, as creepy as it was, was the King of Spades. The same as he had. I instantly died laughing and decided that this was a definite must post as that is literally 1 in 2074 chance of happening.
To avoid the 1 o'clock issue: What about putting another car (like an ace or whatever you prefer) on top of the 12 face cards as your key card. Then ask them to put down as many cards as their secret number is and take the NEXT card as theirs?
Brian! This is such an impressive trick. I watched it a number of times and it's an "eye-catcher" Thank you. I'm the one who does card tricks to keep kids' attention as a substitute teacher. Your work is always impressive ans refreshing. Have you ever done the cut the dollar in half trick using cornstarch and rubber cement? (being from New York, that's Rubbah cement) Anyway, GREAT WORK ! ! ! Dan
i love that instead of getting mad or banning the skip ad comments, you just made your ad reads fucking amazing and just as entertaining and funny as the rest of the show, like nsfw....very cool
Brian while i was watching the tutorial bit i was'nt listening carefully and found a variation that allows them to pick one if they wish. Just put the slug on the top of the deck and your key card on the bottom. So if they pick the first card just tell them to put their chosen card on the table and put the reat of the deck on top. That way the card will still be identifiable from the key card!
Regarding the tip at 6:23 - for an even better effect, rather than asking them if they selected 1 by any chance, look into their eyes or something for a couple seconds, as if you are trying to read them, then confidentially say "1 o'clock". If they say you are wrong, just make a joke out of it; say something like "it WOULD have been nice" or something like that, then you can continue the routine, knowing it's not a 1. If it was a 1 that they picked, they'll be amazed just by the "telepathy"!
Brian, What happens if the clock stops on one? The card would be the key card and not the card below it. Also the cards would be in the exact same order as if the clock stopped at two. Is this just a risk you take?
Actually, you could use any 12 cards you want as your slug, as long as it's easy to remember. If I was doing this, I would use the first 12 cards of Mnemonica.
Hey man-- if you want to skip the sponsors who make Scam School possible, that's your right. But please do me a favor and refrain from posting crap like this. It makes my show look bad. xoxo, Brian
Hey Brian! You CAN let them choose one! When you look at the deck in order to find their card, check if there are any other facecard before your chosen card! If there are one, their card is the facecard AFTER yours, if not then YOUR chosen card is the SAME as theirs! Try it
Hey Brian bro, your vids are always awesome and so as this one! Cheers from Hong Kong :D Just wanna let you know that you got fans from the other side of the globe!
please help cause am lost!!!! Let;s say am performing the trick . 7:25 Q diamond is the card am trying to find. i know my card key is J clubs .. then at 8:37 how i know the card am looking for is Q diamonds and not 2 clubs (the one right after J clubs. I don't know am looking for a face card .... isn't this right ?
2 Questions Oh Great Shwood: 1st: That's using Standard American Pattern, Am/Pm, care to explain the set-u+ for the 24h system? 2nd Question: What is the "specific instruction" that should be given to avoid the "Repeater Count", because some clocks Dongs the "Number of the hour": Picking hour 7 would go to a total of 28 cards...
Ha i had thought the second i saw the title of this vid and instantly thought of Europe - It's the Final Countdown, was sure as hell Brian was gonna reference it and sing LMAO
Ref 06:17, I would say "You haven't picked a 1 have you?" and if they say 'yes' then it already makes you look psychic and the trick can end there. If they say no just continue with "thought so" and carry on.
I have an idea avoiding them picking a one. I think replace the clock idea and swap it with a pair of dice. Reason why is becauwe a normal pair of dice can only go up to 12 and can't be 1.
another way I can tell what a card is, when a person picks there card, they are holding it in there hand. The heat is than transferred to it and so you know that that card is theirs. It always works for me, but not always for other people.
That was probably the best impromptu card effect ever taught on scam school. Thanks, Brian!

Time sure flies, been watching since episode 1... congrats on everything so far!
Pay attention to how long they take to deal the cards out. If they do pick 1 or 2, remind them that you might know which card is on top and suggest they pick a deeper number.
Thanks man-- it's been a crazy ride so far :-)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
Brian you should teach some finger ring magic to go along with your release of the rogue's ring! That would be awesome!
Brilliant!! Well done, sir!
Awesome! So glad to hear that.
i am so happy that this show is still going on ! :)
Thanks Brian,

about what?

One of my new favorite tricks.
To avoid the 1 o'clock issue: What about putting another car (like an ace or whatever you prefer) on top of the 12 face cards as your key card. Then ask them to put down as many cards as their secret number is and take the NEXT card as theirs?
we mention that in the lower 3rd note: 1 is the only situation it wouldn't work, so you'll need to make sure it's not 1.

Lone Star! The National beer of Texas!
Thanks! Glad you like it :-)
I saw you on TV :D. It was like on some Direct TV commercial, while I was doing a trick. I really think you are magic. ALL HAIL THE BRUSHWOOD!!!!
Yes. And so is all of Test Tube.

Yeah I think that works
Brian thats an awesome trick!! Thumbs up from the Netherlands!
Sorta-- They'll show up as "Behind the Scam" features, tho.
This was much better a trick than last week
Lovely video. The upload is greatly appreciated.

noted!
Awesome!
No. :_(
Loads of people love this trick
Dude I love card tricks and this really inspired me
Brian, is there an awesome trick, that's extremely quick and amazing that you can maybe teach in one of your videos?
It's not a trick, Brian... It's an ILLUSION!!
what do you do if the person pick the key card? would there be any way to tell that they didn't change anything or not really?
Brian, What happens if the clock stops on one? The card would be the key card and not the card below it. Also the cards would be in the exact same order as if the clock stopped at two. Is this just a risk you take?

three drinkers sitting in front of a sign that says "please wait to be seated"... there's poetry in there somewhere.

What mic do you use. PS please answer this cuz want to make a vid really soon and your clip on mica are fantastic:):)
pretty good impression of me, Brian. Very spot on lol
Love that you're doing another card trick.
Blue Monarchs?
always keep control of the situation so they do what you want them to do
I believe those are Monarchs from Theory11.
Hey Brian! You CAN let them choose one! When you look at the deck in order to find their card, check if there are any other facecard before your chosen card! If there are one, their card is the facecard AFTER yours, if not then YOUR chosen card is the SAME as theirs! Try it
I KNEW IT!!
you uploaded this video on my birthday!
That's so awesome!!!
The person always selects a face card
You're always looking for the court card after the key card, because you know all the court cards are at the top of the deck.
i had a go at this, and i have no idea what went wrong but i think they mixed the order when they placed the top card down
lol "I love clocks!" just the way he said that :)
Good one man. Gonna try this out.
Oh, Vaztly... I bet you say that to all of the hosts.
Brian for world president!!
The jack of clubs is also my favorite card of the deck!
I certainly would hope so, since we go through all the bother of *making* the episodes from start to finish.
Sorry, bro: Turns out that learning good magic tricks actually takes work.
If they say no just continue with "thought so" and carry on.
best of luck dude... and happy b'day
Going to use all the tricks I've learned tonight to get some free drinks for my birthday today.
she picked the second face card after the jack of clubs, did i miss something or did she change the key card
I have a question what if they are not good at shuffling will it mess up the cards
Haha the sponsor message was great :D
Brian I love love so so your Scams Love your all videos :)
I love you.
Brian what deck did you use in this episode?
IT'S NOT FAIR!!!
They're still coming... hang in there :-)
Me and my friend started doing these tricks for customers. The little kids love getting magic with their ice cream, and it makes the adults tip better
not enough! That's all I know!
Good opening analogy
Thanx man I'm going to give it a shot
I finally got it, really good trick :D
I don't know how, but I can pull this off without the riffle shuffle, just with a normal shuffle.
Hey is the one who answers questions in the comments Brian Brushwood or is it someone else?
If you had two standard dice you could tell them to roll and use those numbers, since that gives numbers from 2 to 12.
In this imaginary conversation, he totally was.
So Brian, how many Austin t-shirts do you have?
This reminds me of the song, by Europe. Good song.
are you using the monarch deck? :)
Can u cut the cards before shuffling as well
I have an idea avoiding them picking a one. I think replace the clock idea and swap it with a pair of dice. Reason why is becauwe a normal pair of dice can only go up to 12 and can't be 1.
Ah... The magic of key cards. You can apply it to so many things.
I think this is the 277th Scam School episode... so we've got a bit of time :-)
another way I can tell what a card is, when a person picks there card, they are holding it in there hand. The heat is than transferred to it and so you know that that card is theirs. It always works for me, but not always for other people.
That's a great idea.
will you ever do more bbotr?
wait! I'm confused... is scam school still a revision 3 production
