I loved pier1. I wish they were still around. I’d love to see how they’d evolve for todays trends. I still have their black iron scroll collection. Most of it is in storage, but I still use the sofa table, bench, and a few other pieces in my rooms. It’s great quality.
I worked for Pier1 for a bit in the early 2010's and while they always had a large assortment of drinkware, it was run horribly. The amount of times that we had corporate sponsored trainings that were just incorrect, was astounding. I'm not surprised they are where they are now.
I recently found an 80’s, solid oak, circle, coffee table. It was done in a golden color…not great. So I stripped it, stained it black, giving it that black oak vibe. It’s amazing. Love that look. Outdated solid oak furniture can really look great stained black.

I had a caned headboard from PB and my hair caught in the caning A lot on tiny cracked pieces of cane and was NOT fun! I got a new bed and put that one in my guest room. Pretty but I’ll never suggest caned HB
Caning is more commonly known as solihiya here in the Philippines. We got a vintage sofabed made of solid wood and solihiya. It's definitely a great option as sofa for our tropical weather here. 😊 I love your channel Valentina! Especially those episodes with your husband. ❤

Caning...is a "mixed bag" in my humble opinion. It can look either quite elegant ...or relatively cheesy, depending on the application. Cane headboard, in previous make-over, to me looked " insubstantial" for leaning against & of questionable Feng Shui. It would not have been my choice .

Yes to marble! Finally got to the point in life where I had marble countertops installed (dolomite) and no I do not want them to go out of style! I love them. They are rich in texture, light, translucency and overall yumminess! We paid extra for a special sealant and so far no stains. I'm still careful to wipe up oils and colorful spills right away, just in case.

Oh black oak!? We are putting in unstained oak wood floors in my teen son’s tiny 8x8 bedroom. Should we stain it black? The ceiling is white and the walls are BM Santorini Blue. The rest of the 800 sqft open home will have rustic hickory wood flooring. Hmmm… make his room fun and interesting or like the rest of the home with natural wood tones.
I know you are asking Valentina, but I giving my two cents, which isn’t worth a lot, but here goes. As striking and beautiful it would be, I think you would regret it. For one thing it will show every bit of dust, dirt, hair, etc. Another thing is, if you wanted to undo it at some point, it would have to be sanded down. It would, most likely, show scratch marks very easily. It would stand out a tremendous amount from the rest of your open home. If I were you, I would try it on a headboard or dresser. It is beautiful.
Kinda funny marble being on trend, my Grandmother had a dresser with a marble top. To put this in perspective I’m 67 she was born in 1909. Do they really know what there talking about 😉
Surely there’s more to the “lived in look” than watching you shave your legs. You said it was in the bathroom, but it literally WAS in the bathroom. Or at least you were.
Black...it's just not a choice for me ever. Black is soooooo on trend I am surprised you didn't try selling that to us. Black is not going to last it's tooo cave like but it is HOT right NOW. I HATE the look of painted oak. The grain is strong and shows through as you say--but there's just nothing attractive about that. Unstained/lightly stained wood is BEAUTIFUL...when you cover up nature you get ugly.
