In this video we go over the best 10,000 BTU portable air conditioner options on the market. We find that the LG models are the clear winners. The Black + Decker BPACT10WT, Frigidaire FGPC1044U1, Frigidaire FFPA1022U1, Honeywell HL10CESWK, and Honeywell MN10CESBB are not recommended because of their lower SACC values.

As I'm working from home with long horizontal windows, I needed a portable air conditioning unit. I purchased Toshiba's RAC-PD1011CRU from Home Depot. The seasonally adjusted cooling capacity SACC is 7,000, so the cooling capacity is highly efficient, and cools my small office of only 115 Sq.Ft. exceptionally well.
Noise is not so much of an issue, though drainage during the summer with high humidity requires either the reservoir to be emptied very frequently, a hose/bucket combination which still requires occasional emptying, or a hose to drain directly outside the house through a port drilled in the wall.
Man i wish there was a consumer product made properly, where it isn't fighting itself.
Guess price would go through the roof though with better materials.

When the price is taken into account, the B+D I think is by far the best option, just got mine in the mail a few days ago and am very pleased with it. Great video, you obviously put a lot of work into this one

3 years later, how about an update with newer models. Surely some have a separate infeed duct by now which should really improve the SACC.
Great breakdown! Do you know the difference between the LG Lp1017wsr and Lp1020wsr?
They offer almost exactly the same features and functionality and very similar performance as both are rated at a SACC of 6,500 BTUs. The 20 version was simply released in 2020 while the 17 version was first released in 2017.
@@consumer-analysis Thanks for the reply. I just bought the LP1017WSR but do you think I shouldve gotten the LP1020WSR? I can return it. Im wondering if the LP1020WSR performs a little better in terms of fan output and noise since its a newer model.
@@artbyact Based on my testing of several other older and newer LG models I don't believe there will be much of a difference between these two models, especially in terms of noise output.

I would recommend a window AC unit over a portable unit if noise is a concern. If you absolutely have to buy a portable unit they all make right around the same amount of noise, so I advise that you go with the best unit over trying to find the "quietest" unit.
