I don't remember Rewind and Eject having guns on their back in the G1 cartoon. I think it's just the G1 toys that have it. But it would have been nice if they included the option for the price it asks.
Rewind should only have one gun, and they don't plug into the back like Rumble and Frenzy. The biggest problem is the waist on Blaster. Just a little sculped detail would have helped fix that area of flat plastic. Also, props to them for off centering the tape deck like the cartoon model. Its one of those things you don't realize that most companies get wrong.
After lookin' it up, the G1 Rewind mold did have a pair of guns, but you're right in that they didn't store on the back (the storage was on the forearms, so basically permanently battle ready).
@@DragoonMS the toy did, but in the cartoon he only had one, and this is based on the cartoon. The unboxing video from FansToys clearly shows only one gun since it splits in half and stores inside the legs for tape mode.
I’m know I’m the only one … But I 100 perfect prefer THE DS over this 1 .,, I eve prefer the Matte Plastic of The DS … IDK the FT just don’t do it for Me
Robert complained so much about the fact they decided to go with the yellow tape deck instead of gold, that I was wondering if you will address this in the review. :D Personally, I prefer yellow over gold with this color scheme but imo, FT should of included the gold replacement for free, instead of selling it as separate accessory.
2 things - First, I hate hate hate that ghostly white they've been using on their faces, dating back to Sovereign-era. I little darker, maybe an off white would help, I think that bright white doesn't help with facial expressions. 2nd-When I got back into TFs many moons ago, I was obsessed with Masterpiece and 3p engineering. Now I find it almost too much for me to fiddle with something for a half hour with a video to help me along the way and have slowly been going back to chug/mainlines. Like here for instance, would it be terrible to just have Blaster's head turn 180, open a compartment in back and hide head in said compartment? Why so much? Blaster is literally one of the ones that should have minimal manipulation.
Completely ridiculous transformation, bordering on explodoforming. Looks good in both modes, but eeesh... at least Rewind is relatively straightforward!
@@Cyril29a except it isn’t a 2 hour transformation in the slightest, it looks complicated, but having done it personally, it’s pretty straightforward. If Bobby can manage it no problem, then anyone can.
Paik is awesome, his video made the transformation look so much easier than the FT video. This model I think suffers from being too toon accurate especially in the shoulders. They're very low, toon accurate, but it along with the head sculpt make him look derpy.
Considering it's also more of a toon asthetic, I would think that a VS with the Deformation Space blaster would be moreof an apprpriate video....but what do I know??
This figure in my opinion is perfect in hand it grew on me. Btw the paint is metallic but mute metallic so it’s hard to see. If you hold your phone light to the paint you see the metallic flecks
Yeah, I cancelled mine. I really don't like it. Proportions and lack of gold chest killed it for me. No reviews show 2 weapons for the tape which also is a bummer. Seems like a waste as this doesn't really offer anything the KFC or DS doesn't. I will keep my KFC
I don’t particularly enjoy too much painted figure so that’s never an issue for me. A little paint fine no problem nice touch but paint scratches and I’d rather have a nice hard excellent quality plastic which is colored very well. That’s being said Deformation Space is my favorite and the best value. Same quality as Fans Toys and 4 times less the price lol can’t go wrong. Well done DS 🤝👌💯
I’m so torn on this one, there’s been so much controversy with it leading up to release. The gold verse yellow chest. The abdomen area does seem off. Will say it’s light years better than the KFC version so I’m happy to be getting a better representation. Blaster is a hard one, he’s a blocky figure even in g1. It’s hard to do this character without delving into him not being what you would want. 🤷♂️
@@simonbellmont I do think it was needed as the KFC one is pretty bad. It was one that needed an upgrade for a completed season one and two cast. Will be pleased once they get their version of Gears out. Really wish someone would make a much needed upgraded Windcharger.

I'm honestly not feeling this version of Blaster. This is what made me bow out of the Masterpiece/3rd Party Masterpiece line... The push for that "toon accuracy"... I liked the initial blend of toon with the toy like with Sideswipe, Prowl, and Wheeljack. The vehicle modes didn't suffer as much either for that toon look. I mean look at MP-10 Optimus Prime versus the MP-44 Prime. MP-44's truck mode has so many panels because it all tucks into the robot mode while MP-10, none of that is fake. It all shows on the robot mode.
I have to wonder, and it's not just against FansToys. Are 3p companies actively trying to make the transformations more complex because they're trying to make the experience more 'high grade/masterpiece', or because they're trying to convince us of the higher price point? Because where the 'look' is concerned, it's not a reinvention of that wheel.
The Saddest thing is, most of us criticized KFC Blaster for being a Shell/Flap Former...FTs did the same thing, FTs deserve no better 8 years later. To me the issue isnt the waist or the shoulders...its the torso, a bit small. If the torso was just 10 to 15% bigger than everything else would fall into place. Honestly if KFC toon repainted, hardwared, and diecasted their Blaster, I be on that instead of FTs. FTs just UnHeroic'd their Blaster...Well this and Seaspray 1.0 has a place together.
Yeah the pelvis is really this figure's biggest drawback, but overall these proportions just feel so weak and uninteresting. At the very least the shoulders could have been more prominent.
Seems like this is another one to the increasingly longer list of misses for FansToys. Blaster's not exactly a must-have as far as MP, but as a character who'd be a welcome addition since I DID have the G1 toy as a kid...I'll probably stick to hunting down the Keith's Fantasy Club one and finding the other Tape Minions separately (cuz I want that Rosanna, but I don't wanna have to get their Twincast just to get her)...that is, assuming KFC/XTB even did any Tape Minions beyond Rewind, Eject, & Rosanna. Speaking of Tape Minions...did Deformation Space ever get to make ANY of'em for Blaster before they went under?
I agree on facesculpt. Fanstoys even beat Takara with their facesculpt for Trailbreaker. They invariably just nail facesculpts. These faces - like the figure itself - are lacking in everything that makes Fanstoys Fanstoys.
Any chance we might see FT do a 2.0 version of Hot Rod so they can fix how they did the single pelvic flap which made 0 sense implementation wise? Its the one figure to this day they screwed up on trying to take a short cut IMO.
Good review. I think this is a good figure for what it is trying to accomplish and do. I was surprised you didn’t mention the announcement of the gold chromed chest plate. I am fine with the Yellow. It is nice that there is an option, but TBH I feel like it should have come with the figure. I guess this is like the G1 Dino head for Grinder?🤔 I believe the weapon splits in 2 and stores in his legs for Eject. I was surprised he only got one pistol, but i dunno if that is Cartoon accurate? Looking forward to the versus.
It's confusing they didn't add any sort of sculpted detail in the abdomen when there is quite a bit of detail throughout the arms and legs. Definitely feels like a mistake to me.
Thanks in advance for the upcoming comparison to the KFC, as opposed to the Deformation Space. I realize you probably just don't have the DS, but as what seems to be literally the only other collector in the universe that passed on the DS as a KFC replacement (I thought it looked boring), I might be the only one that genuinely wants to see how these two compare.
The vs should be against the deformation space, the kfc would just be a discussion of apples and oranges.

A boxy robot turns in to a box and Fanstoys manages to make it a 2 hour transformation. Totally ridiculous.

DS-02 Recording Alliance is my Blaster, I have no idea what this is going for, but it's not $70.
Fantoys is around $200 I think.

I sold this on day one I opened it. This didn't look like Ft who i love. Simplicity killed this for me.

I love the engineering on this one. Its so clean. The most ridiculous panel-formers I've ever delt with are the Toyseasy battle ships.

I'm more optimistic following that. The abdomen and crotch are not great tho, completely agree on them being an eyesore.
I have the KFC one and I’m getting this. I still have the G1 in radio mode. Won’t go crazy transforming mine.
