Nailer's muffed punt return was obviously a game changing moment. A terrible play by a very good player. But Flores was the worst Viking today. Every time we get a significant lead, Flores drops everyone back into a loose zone, and the result is our opponent marching down the field 25 yards at a time. Why does Flores change what's been working for most of the game?

But didn't Flores win? Did you want him to use things in his playbook to make the score look pretty? Doesn't it make more sense to do what you have to, to win comfortably, and keep as much stuff off film as you can??

    • @jackmarquardson9023

@@robe2504 But we didn't win comfortably, did we? We won by 2 points, in a game where we were up by 28 points, and the Packers were an onside kick away from maybe beating us. And you're suggesting we shouldn't keep doing what works because teams might figure out how to beat us in the future by watching film. Really good teams, when they've got you on the ropes, they put the hammer down and put the game out of reach, not lay back.

@@jackmarquardson9023 Yes, they really did. No different from the 49ers game. 2 mins, no time outs needing to score twice. The Vikes literally said in the 49er pressers that they weren't to worried if the 49ers scored, they just wanted to use most of the remaining time because without timeouts it was virtually impossible to score twice in 2 mins.
They're just happy to close out games in this low intensity way.
No point revealing more of the playbook or making the defence to stress too much for a game that was effectively done.

Nailors muff and KOC going for it inside the 20. Nailor doing his best SB helmet catch. KOC claims he's learned a lot from Bud Grant but he wasn't listening. Grant would have taken the 3 when up by two scores and we walked away with nothing. We left 10 points on the field today. That's three games in a row we've left points on the field.

That adds to my suspicion that the IOL isn't very good. Prevent Defense too early in the game. So yes, this was on the coaches. The only conspiracy nobody talks about is how the NFL must have a mandate in place forcing teams to play prevent D when they have a 4th quarter lead so the games end up being close/exciting. Every team does it and it's maddening, so it's the only thing that makes sense. 32 teams can't be this dumb. Just keep playing the defense you were playing that frustrated the other team for 3 quarters and stop worrying about the damn clock. Forcing the other team to go 3-n-out will burn more clock than letting them play catch all the way downfield for easy TD's.

@@jasoncolucci5390 Ok, we'll review the game, and you'll see that he did EXACTLY what you think he should have done. The three and out was run, run, throw, punt.
At 28-22 with 9 minutes to go running 3 times, potentially going 3 and out, and taking 2 minutes off the clock would have been pretty stupid. They needed to score. They move the ball up the field easily, took 3.26 off the clock and scored, two score buffer restored. Under 5 to go.
      Intercepted the next GB possession.
      1st down - Jones run,
      2nd down - Jones run
3rd down - 3rd and 6, short pass to extend the drive incomplete
      4th down - punt
100% attempted what you suggest - another 1.42 off the clock even with the 3 and out. Back to the D.
Murphy forced fumble - got the ball back.
      1st down - Jones run
Oliver false start - now they're behind the sticks'
      2nd down - Jones run
3rd down - 3rd and 12, need to pass to extend the drive, complete to Jefferson
1st down - 18 yard pass to Addison - why not take a shot on 1st (now well in FG range)
      1st down - Jones run
      2nd down - Jones run
      3rd down - Jones run
4th down - Nailor sweep run
So, again 6 runs that exhausted all the Packers timeouts, and only passed when necessary to extend the drive - and one smart shot.
      Wtf are you whining about?
That is almost a class in perfect playcalling, taking all the time off the clock, and having full confidence in the best WR in the league when he needed that one play.
