The bike is obviusly a paid actor there is no way that everything comes of so easly
Yeah!
Right, huh???
When I was removing the parts from my 26 years old Italian road bike,i had to struggle so much with pretty much everything! Especially with the fork! Galvanized!!
Uhh
It was a tough job 🤣
dude spiting fact here..
I've had both ends of spectrum
... one of the smoothies was an old Peugeot, they r so common here (aus)
You probably didn't see how he had to use the drill to remove the saddle
Lol the bike is 100% the paid actor
I love your "upcycling " approach and the way you re-use as many original parts as possible. It gives a really nice soul to those builds. Keep it up, mate!!
Thanks! I appreciate it man!
Love the results. The all black wheel and tire combo gave it a more thick presence.
Wonderfully therapeutic! You have a gift for this process. I've done the same countless times in the past 20 years; still enjoy it. Thank you
Wow, thank you so much! I really appreciate that!🙌
That bike is absolutely gorgeous
I love vintage conversions
your content just gets better and better
Thanks mate, appreciate it!
3:16 has got to be the most satisfying part of the disassembly

Not Tore-mallet, Tore-mah-lay! Col du Tourmalet is one of the epic climbs featured nearly every year of the Tour de France when they pass through the Pyrenees.
Nice conversion, love the outrun style of these 80’s Peugeots.
I have had a old Giant RS930 for awhile and now that I'm getting a new road bike I've been trying to think of what to do with the old bike. I wanted something cool, simple, and budget friendly so I have something to do before the bike comes. I think I've found it, thanks man.
This is a huge help/inspiration for my rebuild I'm doing on an old mid-70's Raleigh Grand Prix I picked up the other day. Was worried about what to do for the real wheel setup because of the different spacing, but you answered my questions. Yours looks sick and I'm hoping I can get mine up and running and looking just as good.
Incredible humble build. Great video to watch and awesome riding! ❤️
Thank you man! Those are some very kind words✌️
That looks like a 1990 model year Tourmalet. These came with Shimano Exage / 400EX which was a Tiagra/Sora groupset in modern day terms. Love watching these conversions especially if they save it from the bin! Also easily made a singlespeed with the addition of some Tektro RL720/721 levers and the same calipers if a buyer doesn't want fixed.
I have a Peugeot frame, a PH11 and it gives me some good leads to convert it !
Give it to me badly i need a frame
Have been unable to work or study due to an operation I’ve been waiting for and i have recently bought a Peugeot steelie to convert myself, looked online for some inspiration and found this! Thank so much and looking forward to it loads :)
With this music is amazing to watch the video
I really like how clean it looks. You chose a very good frame for the purpose.
Just stumbled upon your channel but I'm a huge fan, my roommate and i used to restore and regift vintage bikes together for fun, in fact my current bike (vintage Fuji Supreme) was a road side pick up and i love the act of restoration. Subbed for sure can't wait to see what else your channel has in store!
Thanks man! That sounds awesome, nothing better than restoring or fixing up an old bike so it can live another day. Thanks for the support, means a lot✌️
The deep 700c wheels with the slicks looks great! Maybe I should start looking at my Peugeot with modifications in my eyes.
Certain bikes have barrel adjustments on the downtube, and the caps that screw into the frame make for a great aesthetic cover for the old shifter mounts.
Light, simple, inexpensive, fun.
6:34 the chain won’t slack. The distance from the cog to the chainring does not change with the chainring‘s oval form. The chain either is pulled more frontwards or both up-and downwards at the same time, but since your chainring is a 360 degree circle, it can never make your chain slack on a single point. What makes the chain slack is when the chainring isn’t mounted perfectly centered to the bottom bracket axis, which is the case with most older square tapered bb systems. Cheers from Berlin!
You did a great job on this bike! On the one hand I would like to try this myself. On the other hand I know I don't have the skills and patience to do it...
Thanks! Give it a go, no harm in trying!
Dude, that thing is slick! Those wheels really make the bike imo.
Cheers bro 🤙
I remade a Peugeot Etoile into a single speed/fixie. I absolutely love it but it's a hassle to get some parts for it. The front brake needed a longer screw than a standard shimano claris, the seat pipe is really thin, luckily I found one in a local store... sheesh. Beautiful bike tho :)
So nice! You are blowing up and you deserve it :)
Thanks bro🤙
Sick bike to turn into fixed gear, ready for some bike polo
Just discovered your channel and this video in my feed. Love it! Subscribed immediately.
No bullshit, you showed every step clearly and fast how you did it. It was Nice to watch your video :)
Greetings from Belgium! Here I see lots of these peugeots love the paintwork as well
Thanks bro! Appreciate it. That’s awesome you see so many, down here in New Zealand they tend to be a pretty rare sight...
As soon as you put that rear wheel on I was like niiiiiicccce!
Between this and your last conversion video, I’m convinced I need to do the same thing on my $25 Craigslist motobacane road bike I have.
Thanks for the inspiration man 🤙🏼
That’s awesome to hear man! Glad it’s been useful for you🙌
A little advice for all, when you use the drill add some lube to don't screw up the tool, some wd40 will do the work. Once it gets red hot is useless and become soft. Nice build, love the content
Thanks man! and I totally agree, good tip
Reminds me so much of my 80s trek. From the biopace, the stem style, even the seat post is similar
Oh dang the bike skillz to top off the video were a real treat.👌🏽 Subbing now.
Thanks man!!
Very nice, I'm restoring an old 71' Raleigh International right now. It won't be a fixed gear but I want to say that I like your style!
Very nice bro. Chur from another fixie fiend down in Rotavegas
Cool conversion. I like the choice of toe straps.
thanks!
Amazing! always a new use for an old bike ;)
Nice conversion man! Good few tips in there too, subbed 🚲
Nice job, can use BMX chainring bolts too. I have 3 late 80s steel fixie conversions. Use them all winter
Very awesome fixing build an awesome video
Thanks man!
Always a great job, mate! Lovely that.
Thanks man, appreciate it!
nice fixie by the way, i am looking forward to upgrade mine too.
Yo this is art! I own an old Peugeot Rapport which is pretty similar to your Tourmalet and was doubting whether to make it fixed gear or leave it like that but this video definitely made up my mind 🔥🔥
Thanks!! Sounds awesome, good luck with the conversion✌️
No need of conveting drop outs? Is it actually safe if the dropout of road bike remain as is?
This was so satisfying to watch.
awesome video dude!
where you drilled out that bolt on the seat post clamp, you can also use a dremel or cutting wheel to notch the bolt and use a flathead screwdriver. i just learned this trick and it is very helpfull
thanks man, yeah I've used that trick before! Unfortunately in this case the bolt was also seized in there
integratedchain tensioners too. what a find. good work!
That do nothing anymore
Slick and simple! Hard to achieve but you did it.
Thank you!
today I learned that crank gears can be oval shaped.
cool video!
Thanks yo! Glad you learnt something 🤙
waveywheelies Biopace works on fixed gear too! Tooth pitch remains 1/2 inch. The circumference stays the same no matter the shape. The chain wraps around the same number of teeth. Take a round rubber band and squash it into an egg shape. Circumference is still the same. Biopace on a fixer would probably look wacky and unique too!
From a Peugeot bikes fan, i really love it ! Well job
Cool one man. I did a 1x rebuild on an old Corbier I picked up. Great bikes cool video
Thanks man! Sounds like a cool build!
Looks so bad-ass! Now I wanna convert my vintage Takara into fixed-gear.
Thanks bro, you should do it!
Awesome conversion it looks great!
Another sick build 😎👌👌👌
Nice build. Good Tunes. Quality. 👍🏼
Thanks bro!
that wheel set 😍😍😍
This video got me into fixed gear ❤❤
thanks a lot! the amount of stuff I just learnt from this video. like all the little tips that just seem like common sense but I never would have thought of
Glad it helped you out!
Dude I'm lovin the way you work, awesome vid!
Thanks so much!
actually you can use oval chainring on singlespeed/fixed. I've seen them on dirtjump bikes. kinda mindblowing but yes it is possible
Yeah I’ve heard of people using them but to me I don’t see the point. It’s different if you run single speed with a tensioner. But personally riding fixed I want the same chain tension all the time. I would hate the feeling of a tight chain then a slack chain all in one rotation. That’s just me though. Maybe I’ll test it out to see how it is
Without chain tensioner**
Yeah, you can run it without a chain tensioner, no problem. Your line of thought is based on it contacting the apex of the curve only, which would make sense. However it's in contact with half the chainring at all times.
Chain pitch remains the same at 1/2". Circumference is the same. Chain engages the same number of teeth no matter the clocking. Think about it!Tension won't change! Play with a rubber band on the table. Don't stretch it but squeeze it into different shapes. Circumference is always the same!
Prob my favorite video. Ty. I have an older panasonic that I am slowly converting.
Thanks! Sounds rad man, love old Panasonic’s. What model is yours?
It's a dx 1000.
I was ready to cringe at a conversion, but it looks great and you did a great job with it!! 💪💪💯
Thanks mate!
Loving the fixed gear conversion, man! Anyways, I was wondering about the background music. Can I have the link to listen to? It’s suits well with your video. Great job, keep up!
Thanks so much! The music is made by a friend of mine and isn't posted anywhere yet sorry!
@@waveywheelies Here's another vote for those tunes Wavey. Get that mate on soundcloud! Please.
I'm new to bikes and I've enjoyed this vid a lot. Thanks!
do another with some old italian columbus tubing! youtube will love it
Really nice conversion and video ! I loved it. I also have a fixie with a blue Peugeot pbn 10 frame
Thanks man! Sounds like a sweet build, love old Peugeots
Not into fixies, but holy damn, that bike looks cool
great build. minimal and just cool.
Thanks bro
I’ve just bought my first road bike after years and damn those are some beautiful wheels lol, I’ll run single gear but not a fixie just yet. Camr wait to swap my ram horn bars out too! New sub here, there s really cool build. I prefer the old bikes.
Beautiful build my brother!
Peace and respect from LA!
Thanks bro! Appreciate it
You should have tried the biopace chainring. People have been using them in fixed configuration and the tightening and slackening doesn't seem to be so much that would cause problems. Pedal resistance and power delivery feel different and there are people who love them.
Fair enough! I just personally don’t like the idea of a chain that changes tension on a single speed
Vintage stel is the best I have one ole ritter. Your movies are good with one cap of caffe 👍
Excelente y hermosa Fixie!!!
Looks beautiful. Great video too!
Thank you!!
Nice one mate.
Thanks man!
Hi Thanks for this video ! I have a Peugeot PS 10 bike frame it has a swiss thread ( the seller told me ) , which modern BB can put in it ?. Can I use a Sugino Pista crankset on it . Your reply will help me a lot ! Thanks !
Amazing Job! I love this bike it is beautiful.
Thank you!✌️
Hey,
Like your video and planning to repurpose old bike and convert to single speed bike.
One question, I wanted to have regular brake and I am wondering what is that I need to have for that.
Is the back cassette that needs to be different?
Totally new here…
Yaaay! more fixed gear conversion!
Do you have any tips for keeping the wheel from slipping forward with forward horizontal dropouts like that? I find that with enough torque (a good hill or whatever), I can easily cause the wheel to slip! I've jerry rigged chain tensioner to help fix the issue, but it sucks as a solution
What are your hub nuts like? make sure they have plenty of grip on them (notched surface) and same with the other hub nut that meets the inside of the drop out.. Then tighten it up real tight. Never personally had an issue with that. But I am aware it can happen. What are your drop outs like? asking because I know some older frames have really thin dropouts which could be an issue
I have been thinking of building one for cruising at the beach but I want to try bullhorn handlebars
Sweet!
I wish I could like this video again.
Oval chain ring won't go slack or tight. Tooth pitch doesn't change therefore circumference doesn't change either. Think about it.
Very nice and very clean setup👌🏿
this is my dream project. inspiring vid
This came out nice af!! Bet the original owner could've never predicted this 🤔
Definitely not aye. That’s why I love doing these kind of conversions, always surprising how they come out 🤙
Just picked up the same brand of bike. Unfortunately I don’t have the tools to work the crankset and check all the bearings and line them. Taking it to a shop for the conversion.
Nice one! Sounds rad
When you added spacers to the hub in the rear, did you have enough thread to really tighten the back wheel, or did you crank it down until the dropouts came closer?
Yo that's dope. Wish I could turn my bike into a fixie
Give it a go! What do you have?
@@waveywheelies I have a vintage Peugeot 12 speed
It's just so hard not having tools and some shops overprice.
this was therapeutic!
I hope i can convert my vintage bike too.. just like that.. all the way from Philippines here.. Good day..
Would've loved to see you clean up the steerer tube cups and saddle post and the corrosion on the saddle mount. But otherwise good build.
Also, regarding the chain line: You can move the spacers to the other side if you want to move the rear cog over. You might have to change the dish of the wheel though. Saves money from experimenting with a different spindle length bb.
Yep you can do that as well 👍 just a little more technical to dish a wheel properly
Sweet Ride!!! Stay Spinning cause Spinning is Winning!!!!!
Those tires🔥
What a change ! Good work bro!
Thanks bro!
Wow man I want to build something like this. Got an old frame too
Thanks for this video! I have the same bike I would like to make fixed gear!
Awesome, no worries at all! Glad you enjoyed✌️
@@waveywheelies hey! I always enjoy coming back to this video. Is there a certain size handlebar I should look out for that fits the stock stem that comes on these? Thanks!
Inspiring in making a monte carlo into a fixed gear. But I have no great start. Long to short is iguess wheels and crankset ? And everything else should kinda fit into place ..??
