Jimmy takes the cash and as he walks away he can't believe it actually work! He then sees his mom and proceeds to keep trying this new power of his. He goes to his mom and says, Pst! Mom? I know everything.. his mom as well frantically grabs jimmy by the arm takes him to the other room grabs a $20 from her bra and says Here! Don't tell ur father!! Jimmy says Okay! Has he grabs the $20 with a big smile on his face as he walks away a happy little camper! He then goes outside with his newly earned $40 thinking what he should spent it on? When suddenly he spots the mailman and says, huh? Another $20 wouldn't hurt! So he approaches the mailman and says, pst! Hey? Mr. Mailman!? I know everything... the mailman then STOPS! drops the bag of mail he was carrying to the ground, turns around drops on his knees opens his arms and with huge tears down his eyes he says to jimmy "MY SON!!"

The problem is it would probably be harder than people think to prove to a legal standard that people are knowingly making a false report as they could simply claim that they were honestly mistaken, especially if they're careful about what they actually say on the call.

For those that think 10 years in jail is too much, you need to think about it. Having ten years is a blessing, considering someone may get killed. A simple case of murder gets you a life sentence in prison. And people think this is harsh just because they're teenagers.

Makes no difference if the swatters are teenagers. When you're a teen, you're more than old enough to know that doing shit like that is wrong. Plus, swatting is not a prank, it is an act of malice that can get innocent people killed, doubly so when you consider that the average SWAT officer these days makes Eugene Tackleberry look philosophical and diplomatic by comparison.
Especially in large cities where a SWAT team is more likely to be needed for a REAL call. Instead they are having to fuck around with swatters.

"Put yourselves in the shoes of the person being swatted.." Thats a bad argument to make; you never go based on something like that when seeking justice. Thats vengeance, not justice. Ontop of that, victims are always 100% of the time inherently biased. People related to the victim for whatever reason are inherently biased. You can think murder is a crime punishable by death until your son or wife commit murder, then all of a sudden "Whoa, calm down there, lets not be too hasty to kill". By the same token, if your son or wife are murdered, you want the fucker dead.
We cant take in unreasonable bias. Ontop of that, swatting was already illegal. Adding more legislation is not necessarily a good thing, although in this case it might not be a bad thing.
That stated, 10 years is a bit much. Especially if you want to make the statement "It will set an example". Thats just sugar coating "Make the sentence unreasonably high to attempt to deter people from doing it", which isnt always the case. Thats, also, not justice.

I disagree. A few years ago I had police kick my do in because they raided the wrong house. It my have been a honest mistake but I still needed therapy afterwards. These idiots getting off on inflicting that kind of emotional trama need at least ten years plus they should have to pay back the police and pay for the victims therapy.

HG Shurtugal i grew up playing halo, it is a great fps with a great story (and a great book for that matter) but it doesn't have the smoothest gunplay compared to games like counter-strike and half-life.

10 years is pretty damn harsh. Getting 10 years of their life removed takes them out of school, their parents house, and thrown into penitentiaries for a critical point in their life. Give them a heavy dose of community service. And if someone is killed because of it, then they will have to live with that guilt for the rest of their lives. I mean 10 years ago, I was starting middle school, and that feels SOOOO LONG ago.

Someone who is willing and able to actively lie to authorities to "troll" someone else and put them in danger WHILE knowing it is illegal, is pretty far from help and NEEDS to be put in a type of detention so they can obtain help! (10 years of help seems pretty reasonable)

There still needs to be a system that can identify a call being from skype and identifying the username and IP address. Police can then investigate both locations and if the call received is fake, the person who made the call will be arrested. This would end the trauma of Swatting.

Back in my day we just didn't talk to them people we didn't like. No harassment, no embarrassment, no bullshit. At school? Ha 200 people total in my school (k-12) and I managed to stay away. Online? mute and block options. Why must people force cruel behavior like this on everyone around them? Do there parents need to I don't know, discipline them(insert past tense if they are adults now)?
If the person who did the swatting does turn out to be a kid, he wont get that 10 years anyway. If the person is over 18, any good lawyer will get that sentenced reduced.

I'm relieved some action is finally being taken against this... the notion that this sort of thing happens and is considered "amusing" by the people who do it really horrifies me to my fucking core... be they 13 or 31. When I was 13 - hell, when I was 8 I knew even then that this sort of thing was fucking heinous! And had I done something like this at 13 and gotten caught for it, my family wouldn't be at my side, they'd fucking disown me out shame and humiliation! And they'd be right to!

I used to play F.E.A.R on 1GB ram, GeForce 8700 and a Pentium 4 2.1 GHz Dual core. Some years ago, my Geforce 8700 burned and i didn't even replaced it, just using the onboard graphics card... And it still runs F.E.A.R on Max settingd at 60 FPS. It's an AMAZING game. I got it to run on a 2001 Windows XP laptop with 500mb of ram and it ran perfectly. I don't understand this game at all.
i live in jersey and i am now getting back into live streaming. this is a great idea. jersey finally got something right. but ive also informed my local police that i do live stream so they are aware ahead of time. i do have 3 little kids so i dont need any problems..

The thing is wit hall the people saying the punishment is too harsh is taht if someone dies in a swatting, all their life is taken away, whereas if someone is caught swatting only 10 years are taken away from that persons life. When you put it into perspective the swatters are getting off lucky.

I really don't like people "being made a example of" I know that some might disagree with my view on what a justice system should be but in my opinion it shouldn't be the equivalent to 50 lashings in a public town square to simply send a harsh message.

Coincidentally, I was listening to the F.E.A.R soundtrack before I watched this video. I agree with Rich, not only is it definitely one of the greatest FPSs of all time, it's also a damn good horror game. If you've never played it before and you're into the horror genre at all, do yourself a favor and buy it. You won't regret it.
