I know this is kinda irrelevant to the video but I just wanna say, for anyone who doesn't get accepted onto the first or even 10th playlist they apply for and is discouraged, do NOT give up, remember keep trying and it'll all come together eventually 🖤
I was gonna say I had a good feeling about this video because it didn't look sales-y like others...with the fancy graphics and face posted on the thumbnail...and bruh DELIVERRRRRRED!
Hi there! I'm about to put out my debut track and I have to say this information is a huge help! Thank you for helping people out and giving advices to musicians like me. Wish you much luck and success in life ✌😉
Sir your video help producer like me alot your not getting view as much u want but u dont stop if music producers like me will be help less and ur channel and your klowledege is so amazing help like this hatsoff to u sir
Thanks again Justin for another great suggestion for us Musicians/Songwriters/Independent Artists searching for ways to market/promote our music online. I've been subscribed to your RUclips Channel for a while now and find your suggestions super helpful/useful as I continue to get my music out there and build my fanbase. I very much appreciate all that you do to help us out. Keep Up The GREAT Work!
Hey dude, thanks for this video It’s cool what your doing here (from an underground artist perspective) I appreciate your help! You got my subscription! Cheers
Some really nice advice! I think if you have the talent, you might forego those paid for curators which is exactly why I located this video. Spotify is the biggest known platform for any musician. But my issue is when I send my links to friends who use the free service, Spotify imposes their sponsored artists on my links and this has literally costed me over two dozen loyal listeners which is not good coming out of the gate! So I have enjoyed your common sense approach to this conflict I am having! Thanks for the tips! By the way, I did build up a fan base on you tube by just finding like minded people about the things I have an interest in. So personal relations is a good solid way but it grows much slower. I'm a big time music lover. Creating it and appreciating new talents who do.
Thank you for this valuable info. But may I know if we register our song with aggregator, do we still need to contact Spotify curator separately to get our song in the playlist?
Sorry if this has already bee asked/mentioned, but there are lots of comments! (congrats on that). My question is this: your examples involve just one song. Do you strongly advise that, as opposed to just a link to an artist profile, or a link to an album of pieces that might also be possible additions to a playlist?
Yes. Submit 1 song at a time to curators. If you give them too many options, they will ignore you. Most curators will listen to 10-20 seconds of your song and make a quick decision about wether or not they want to continue listening. They won't sit down and spend all day listening to your entire catalogue. To choose which song would be best for you to submit to curators, watch this ruclips.net/video/o50TS07Hmx0/видео.html
Hey, Im extremely confused about how these playlists work. I'm about to put out my first release but don't have a way of accessing spotify for artists. do you need that to have access to your spotify's song link? or does the song have to be already released to have a spotify URL. People keep saying you can't submit already released material to playlist curators. How does this work? Thank you
That will vary from one curator to another. I would typically try to reach them via email first if you can find that. Otherwise social media or a contact form on their website.
Do you think it matters where your streams come from (for the algorithm for example)? I've seen one playlist from a regular curator that yesterday had 4000 followers and today 16,000 so it's clearly fake followers, but people are paying to be on it. Is it worth it just to get the streams?
Yes it matters where the streams come from. It's very important that you get streams from people that actually like your music. Spotify's algorithm determines who to serve your music to based on how similar users interact with it. Lots of positive engagement (likes, saves, follows, even just people listening to the song beginning to end) will help you grow organically. Too much negative engagement (skips or only listening to a few seconds of your song) will essentially influence the algorithm to avoid sharing your music. All streams are NOT equal... you want targeted streams. Streams from people that are likely to engage positively (or at least listen to the entire song). Generally speaking, you never want to pay to be on playlists. If anyone can pay to be on a playlist, the playlist is probably not very good and won't result in any real benefits for your music career. There are much better ways to promote your music.
Hi, thanks for all the information, I just followed all the steps, it seems it doesn´t work for me. I´m looking for contemporary jazz, fusion jazz, nu jazz etc curators, in the playlists I found there´s no followers or listeners and I´m looking for the famous ones like Avishai Cohen, Go go Pinguin, even Pat Metheny...
Is there a difference between just using the Spotify for Artists upcoming tab to submit and submitting directly? I am trying to research, but I see both of these, and I am not sure whether I should use both or just one. Thanks!
Yes. Submitting through Spotify for Artists is how you would pitch to Spotify's editorial staff. More details at artists.spotify.com/faq/promotion#pitching-music-to-playlist-editors
Thanks for help but I just tried this and now they want money unless I dont understand it, why god do we musicians have to do music marketing, such a pain in the ass when it does not work!
As an artist I really do not think I have the time to email everybody who has a playlist in hopes that they might play my music...That sounds like a waste a time...
From Peter Anderson....I have changed my bank account number due to stolen cards...now waiting on new cards from banks please be patient and we'll have full amount...don't want to lose these songs
The method is good in theory , but you know that there's not even a guarantee that they'll be able to listen to your song (unless you add a sound cloud link or something) because of spotifys most loved feature "shuffle play" & then your forced to listen to post Malone or something (nothing wrong with posty btw) but js
Most of these are editorial, it’s harder to find Apple Music curators. You just have to submit to the actual editors for possible editorial placement thru the app
Hey there! Just wondering... can you send a private SoundCloud link or a DropBox download link to these INDEPENDENT Spotify Curators if your song is UNRELEASED?
A playlist w ~900 followers got me about +450 monthly listeners and ~+90 streams per day on 1 song. It was free and I found it under hashtags on IG, for example it was like #lofiplaylist and just find some small people and dm them w links and be nice and chill
Curators are now charging to get on their playlist really shows how smelly the industry has become. If one is getting into the biz of making music why bother just spend all your time developing playlists then charging people to get on it...
I know this is kinda irrelevant to the video but I just wanna say, for anyone who doesn't get accepted onto the first or even 10th playlist they apply for and is discouraged, do NOT give up, remember keep trying and it'll all come together eventually 🖤

They can if they have Spotify Premium - and most likely do if they have a playlist imo
Spotify is easy but how do you get playlisted on apple music, amazon and deezer playlists? I can find ZERO info on that. Anyone?

The labels own 50% stake in spotify and they only push their artists ALSO, it is PAYOLA they won't tell u that of course.

Typically yes. That shouldn't be a problem
