Just wanted to thank you for posting this I'm really enjoying it im 8 hours in and spend about 3 to 5 hours on audio books every day and I really appreciate such a long book x
At 4:48:20 a song started up during the news report from the ham radio man named “prepper Dan”: the music swiftly drowned out the narrator’s voice. VERY IRRITATING At about 4:52:00 it finally stopped and I experienced a bit of happiness at being able to hear the story again. Likely just a few missed minutes of an 11 hour stream. I can see how that could happen. Thank you again for the story.

Geez everyone and the California bashing 😮 A few bad apples don't mean the whole bushels is bad. Time for a new scapegoat. People in times of extreme stress or in situations where money is involved are axxwipes
I was surprised when the main character beat the two dudes up, the voice of the narrator had me imagining he was a more nerdy sort lol Im in at 1:11:40 and thought the story was beginning to drag on too much but starting to pick up it seems, ill stick it out a while longer. Appreciate the upload in any case, thanks pal.
My opinion but Samantha comes across as annoying and extremely naive at the beginning in Canada especially about guns and protection. Also why wouldn't Don with his damaged truck lead the caravan on the trip to Michigan?? Helps to somewhat block his license plate since he was too stupid to steal one and in case he had vehicle issues.
Me too!! She's more worried about things that she is about living!! If Samantha wants to stay with her mother, then leave her too!! They should ask her how she's going to eat in 3 months 6 months 9 months? Where is she going to get drinking water from? What happens when people realize what she has and they break into her house for it?? I think this is it for me, I think this might be where I finally stop listening to this book. Because it's getting really stupid!!
@@MrT8T3R it's common sense. There's been an EMP, you know people are going to be out there acting crazy, they don't know what's happening, they're trying to start gathering for themselves and their families, or they're trying to steal from other people. So instead of tag team driving so somebody is awake at all times, she sleeps. So they have to pull over and rest, that's normal to you? And when they do get attacked, she freezes and damn near lets her husband get beat before she pulls the trigger! Are you kidding me!! And then the mother refusing to leave? I'm sorry I can't get past the stupidity in this novel. I've tried but I can't!
I'm about 2hr in. I don't understand why they haven't once listened to the truck's radio for news. I know they have been taking naps in shifts, but why wouldn't you want to listen to news updates at least every hour or so?🤔🤷♂️
I’m at 2:43:04 and struggling. I know it’s a story and things need to slowly escalate but I have a hard time dealing with characters who consistently make dumb decisions.
I agree. The decisions being made are stupid. The first one being the fact that they're not tag team driving! Why are they pulling over in both of them sleeping? After being accosted by strangers, why is the gun still unloaded?? And why is Samantha always sleep? And then later Jill does not want to leave her home? Someone should ask her how she's going to eat, where she's going to get fresh water for eating and drinking, and how she's going to defend herself and her property?
I found the story compelling enough to forgive a lot of glaring issues (ie. Sam, being a light sleeper than not hearing a single thing while continuously napping the entire drive), but I cannot forgive the ridiculous plot twist of Samantha's mom not wanting to leave her home. Then in the next sentence being more than willing to move to Don's parents place. I guess that's what happens when you let AI I do the storytelling.
I'm sorry, but they all do. Not wanting to go into details and spoil the plot for everyone, but they all are a bunch of numptys who, if this had really been an apocalyptic scenario for real, not one of them would have lasted a week.
I appreciate the upload of this book. I’m less than 2 hours in and anticipate finishing it. I do have a technical comment: I sure wish my ham radio contacts were this reliable over these distances. These guys are fortunate.😂
At 9:43:00 During the apocalypse who does not carry at least two knives!!!! One folding knife in your pocket and one fixed blade in a sheath at your waste!
Interesting how Canada took everyone’s guns away to make everyone safe from guns. Only to finally realize that the problem was always the criminals using guns!
So far I like the story, but I have one big question. Where is N.O.R.D.A.? Cheyenne Mountain Complex. A joint American and Canadian military unit. That is responsible for warning both governments of nuclear attack/ ballistic missile attack on the north America continent? Let a lone the response of the United States nuclear force. ( Watch Michelle Khare RUclips video on United States nuclear response.)
Are you at all aware of the firearms laws for importing arms through Canada? You might get them in at the Alaskan border IF (very unlikely) you were not checked due to no immigration officers. But if anyone saw a firearm or you are searched exiting Canada and caught..... $5000.00 fine and up to 10 years in prison. The paperwork and background check is daunting to even legally importing a rifle for sport hunting. Handguns never legally allowed in possesion.
The writing style is okay and the narration is great but the research is brutal. 2 days to travel 1550km using 1200$ worth of fuel. And weird shopping along the northern highways you will small towns. There no exits with just a gas station. The towns do not have mom and one stop shop grocery stores with camping gear. And the organized criminals in Canada would not behave this way. Smuggling a pistol across the border casually isn't going to happen either. Also if America were attacked Canadians would be super helpful and sympathetic, like they were on 9/11. And finally, who wouldn't turn around and head back to their friends house to conserve resources? Especially only a few hours into a week or more long trip. At the very least you would turn around drive until you met up to send the women back home, or wait until your friends caught up. Not waste fuel and resources on two large trucks making the journey.
@carmenhatfield4357 it's a shame you passed on it. Nothing was said during those few minutes that was of importance (no one died or got injured or born...) so you missed out on a good book over someone saying the whole story was ruined 😒.
