    He was a great speaker on the word, n he could sing his heart out, he was blessed. Now I didn’t ask about his personal business, that was not my concern, the man was a giving man. I seen him grow in his ministry. He was touch by God. It’s sad he lost his life for being kind. Love u pastor Paul Jones.😢

    I grew up in the Acres Homes community of Houston, TX. I had the privilege of hearing Rev. Paul Jones sing live on 3 occasions in the church I attended as a child. I remember when he passed all of the elders were gathered around the t.v watching the news report on his murder. It was very devastating to our community. He had moved into a newly developed neighborhood too close to "the hood." The Acres Homes community was very drug infested in those days. President George Bush visited our community park and gave a speech commemorating our war on drugs in our community. Saying that to say it was a lot of violence and crime due to the overwhelming presence of drugs. Rev. Paul Jones was just starting to get a lot of notoriety due to his gift as a gospel singer. He had also purchased a nice vehicle along with his newly purchased home. Our community was small enough that it wasn't difficult to find out where someone lived if you desired. I think his rise to stardom along with his newfound materialistic possessions made him a target for what took place. There were rumors floating around the churches of a secret homosexual lifestyle and the killer being an ex jealous lover but I think those were just rumors. Wow, I was in middle school when all of this took place and I remember it like yesterday. I listen to "Don't Want No Rocks" pretty often. When I was younger I can remember the church goers being feeled with the holy spirit when he performed that song live. I didn't know the meaning of it then but I knew it was powerful and he sung his heart out when he sung it. Now that I'm older and understand the meaning, it effects me the same way it did those elders when I was younger. I know we might wonder why he left here so young but we can't question God. His will shall be done (Job 14: 5-7.) God bless you all my brothers and sisters...

      Omg I heard “I don’t want no rocks” first time in January 2024. I didn’t know what my situation was going to be, but that song ministered to my soul. And I prayed.

      @@QueenlyVibesQueen, I’m not trying to offend you on your platform. But he was not ahead of his time. This is who we were. We were church going folk. I grew up in the church. That’s all we had in slavery. That’s all we had to keep our mind. My grandfather would tell me how they would lay prostrate all day in prayer by the River in Mississippi. He was 20 or so when they left Mississippi. Our faith has crumbled. Our churches and leadership are sideshows and elaborate performances. But there are many, many Paul Jones. The fact we can’t find them anymore, means he was the last of a dying breed.

    Rev. Paul Jones was highly anointed... Father God poured so much spirituality into him. Unfortunately, Rev. Jones had several open doors in his being that finally caught up with him. He is however still appreciated to this day.

    He wasn’t ahead of his time. He was the last of a dying breed. It was very common for people to grow in the faith from wee ages. That’s what we come from. I got saved at 7 but I could not fight temptation in a big city with low self esteem. No guidance, and I had stopped going to church (no access). They don’t make them like him anymore. Historically there are many Paul Jones. It’s rare we find them anymore. I think it was access. Church boy and quick grab. Houston was wild back then and drugs were rampant.

      I felt that too. When I was little my mom told me Lucifer was the most beautiful Angel in Heaven. That he sung beautifully but he thought he was better than GOD. I see that so much with music and entertainment. It’s a spirit. Now he is not here to defend himself. I just saw something that stated, if you are taken early, GOD is protecting you from your own destruction. He was still favored.

    I just came across the song I won’t complain and liked it then I seen 1960 to 1990. And immediately knew something was wrong. With all due respect seems like another Martin and Malcom on the rise and someone wanted to stop the next black messiah. We been at war since the beginning of time and the enemy is surely doing his job.

      Y’all stop! Another Martin and Malcolm? Please everyone research the black church. He wasn’t a rarity. It’s very rare now. But that’s who we were before the world took over! Oh yes, he was talented but there are so many from that time period and previous who were blessed by GOD. Unfortunately there is a lot of homosexuality in the musuc ministry. Not saying he was. But the first thing that came to mind was scorned lover.

    I agree with your thoughts! I was a church musician for years,gospel music was about ministry,now it’s entertainment! Black churches kicked holy spirit out for entertainment! Because Black folks love to be entertained, nobody, including pastors, couldn’t see God is no longer the center of attention and nobody is being saved or edified! Gospel singers trying to live out their Patty Labelle and Teddy P fantasies in church! I remember when the Holy Spirit was so high, us musicians couldn’t play another note because we recognized God had entered into the building! Now we see Kirk Franklin doing his james brown impression on stage, entertaining and nobody is being saved anymore! Church today is backslidden and sad!😔

    • @anastayjah715
      @anastayjah715 2 месяца назад

      Nobody is being saved anymore? Wow, this is quite a sad and untrue statement. People are being saved everyday. Kirk Franklin can't save you. Kirk is a man, he's not Jesus. No one comes to the Father except through Jesus. Too many people looking at what other people are doing instead of seeking God. God's word is the same today as it was when Jesus walked the earth. You want to seek God, read the word and God will lead you.

    • @cccalll
      @cccalll 2 месяца назад

      @@anastayjah715 🤷‍♂️first of all, who said Kirk was supposed to save you? You missed the whole point trying to be deep! There’s a big difference from Entertaining and Ministering! Kirk is supposed to MINISTER not Entertain! Church is the place that God established for Saints to empower themselves after dealing with this world! So it’s more than just seeking God and reading Gods word! Obviously you go to a church that Entertains you and you think that’s ministering. What is it to be saved? Do you know? Because if you really knew, you definitely would see truth and be discussed with our churches entertaining people! We all know Black Folks love to be entertained! I bet you’re one of these Christians that think just because a person can sing, that’s person is Anointed! Anointing doesn’t come from a gift because the world can sing just as good! Think how you want but Bye and Bye hope you don’t find out to late🤷‍♂️

      @@cccalll You made a general statement claiming people are not being saved anymore and there's no edification. Either you believe Kirk is a savior or you don't believe God is still saving. Which is it? and Who are you to say Kirk's music or shows don't minister to someone.
