Need to paint that rim look agly
New flywheel and clutch not enough?
Good lord are you people ever gonna stop harping on him for that one rusted rim? I mean the dude just had to spend a crap ton of money to put a new clutch and flywheel in the truck I think he deserves first off a cold drink and second of all some time to make some money to offset what he just spent
It's Orwell's birthmark
That rusty wheel is a meme now lol
imagine spelling ugly wrong.
Steve the fact you just did what most people consider a two person job by yourself is really beyond impressive also im stealing the long bolt trick how havent i thought of that
She sounds like She’s ready for Another Load..AWESOME truck
And ready in time for the show 😉. If I lived up that way I would go! 👍
Man i know from experience that is a lot of work but i miss doing stuff like that and engine work on big trucks. Love to see a guy that loves his truck and put that much love into it no matter what it takes. Keep up the awesome videos brother. Cant wait to see our buddy Orwell back to work.
Another big advantage to having a cabover, doing transmission and clutch work! I’ve done many laying under conventional trucks over the years, not always a fun time! I realize it can still be a fight, but accessibility from up top is nice.
My hands and arms hurt watching you, power tools, pneumatic ratchet to run the bolts, then hand to final torque, Years of wrenching myself, I’ve finally gotten away from the pneumatic tools and went cordless, it’s so freeing (and a lot quieter) Good job and glad it went back together well.
Polished tanks and wheels is all it needs..one time investment
That was quite a job for one man,but you showed what you're made of and got it done. Kudos to you Steve. 👍👍
Yahoo, Orwell is back.... new clutch brake, new clutch, new through out bearing... lets go....
I haven't done a clutch job in years (1966 VW transporter), but its the same principle.
Only one significant difference -- the clutch components on your truck are huge.
You did a great job. Careful and correct. Orwell is back on the road!
Congratulations on another successful maintenance job completed Steve. I'm probably not the only viewer who didn't know manual transmission flywheels are not completely forged in a foundry as one complete assembly. Keep on trucking.
Steve this is steve Pam's old man a one job use to do this work myself years ago worked for my friends dad who was known for turning everyone's regular trans into over drives he has passed on now but thought me a lot I am 56 now with bad back from ridding with no air in the seat now I know better but to late for my back never drove a hood only cancer and loved it enjoyed video keep up the good work and keep the hammer down.
I don't know how you do it but you do. You are a real one. God Bless.
Hello Steve, won't make it to Michigan, but I am a train enthusiast. I'm glad to see Orwell back on the road again.
Be happy this happened at home...Thats at least a $10,000 job on the road in a shop
Man FSC you are one talented guy but I would imagine Jenn tells you that all the time. Anything you do maintenance wise you make it look so easy. Plus your usually by yourself no other set of hands there. I really like this video. It showed who you really are. Thanks for posting FSC. Have a great and a safe day. Happy trails and happy motoring …
Great video Steve glad to see you getting Orwell's clutch and flywheel replaced. Looking forward to your next video stay safe Steve and Jen.
You're like a surgeon. Glad to see Orwell back in action.
I was ASE master Heavy truck technician from 1976 until I 10:30 retired in 2014!!!
Awesome job gettin Orwell back on the road. You got me thinkin, where have I seen this guy, took some time, then it dawned on me, Shrek lol, but all joking aside, it's great to see an actual old school Driver / Mechanic at work
Just a little like work, I absolutely hate doing clutches or transmissions by myself. Yes it can be done but help is greatly appreciated. So see you with another load. Be safe and have fun!
Impressive work, Steve. I wish I had your PATIENCE!
I missed most of the "live" event , (which wasn't technically live, b/c I saw the short last night of Orwell finished). Sorry that you had to go through this additional work.
I much prefer when the issue is apparent. Order parts, replace them, job done! Problem fixed & Orwell got a bunch of PM as well! Never told us what ya did about that drive tire that got cut/punctured.
Good job, Steve.
You did a great job, stay safe. Take Jen. Your assistant to a good dinner and dancing lol on the dancing.
Orwell looking good with inside light. Frame almost looked freshly painted around 4 minute mark.
Lot off work for one person good job
Had a 9 speed break a main shaft in 97 by the time i limped her home clutch and flywheel were pretty much smoked but getting it towed 900 miles back to the yard wasn't an option and the boss had the replacement transmission and other parts at the yard. He said you get her home I'll pay you what the tow bill would have been. Next week i had a 4k check.
You brought back some memories of my dad watching him doing the same thing.. however he said a few words I can’t say 😊😊😊
Boy you're gonna be so glad to get back on the road. That mechanical stuff is for the birds. But you can sure tell you Have done this a time or two. My hat's off to your steve I couldn't do that get underneath there anymore.
Steve, you are impressive !!
That's a big job, you the Man 💪💪💪💪
U B one bad Mamba Jamba to do that job on your own. That's really a two man job. You looked tired and understandably so. Glad you got it done!
Dammit Steve! lol... I'll be in TN while you're in MI... so I'll miss you again this year. Oh well, hopefully you attend again next year. Thank you for all the great content over the last 3 years since I subscribed to the channel.
Great shop work! Thanks for taking us thru all steps...
Great job showing and telling STEVE, keep up the good work see ya next time see ya bye.
I’m totally amazed how talented you are. Thanks for sharing
another Truck driver that releases videos like you do,did a livestream of one of his semi truck runs.& his channel followers loved that livestream very much 😊
Good show Steve i've done thousands of clutch jobs in bot cabovers and conventional trucks👍👍👍👍👍
Aw man I'd so love to go to that so I could see Orwell and meet you as well damnit
Glad you got Orwell back together again!
Nice to see an old CO again.
You left ok like you are ready for the jungle!👀🙏
morrning steve thank you for letting i wasching you put the cluch back in orwell you did it yourself have a good day
Glad your got it going
The way you did this job was 100% the best way with all new parts. People that cant afford that can you just replace the ring gear and put it back together. Your old parts didnt look to bad.
I used to lift, flywheel and cluch packs, back in my early years. All, while on my knees, under the trucks. Ain't no wonder, back all messed up 😂 Glad you got Orwell fixed. Take care, Steve
Steve you're lettin it all hang out, I approve. Don't stop for anything 👍
Wow that amazing you did that all by yourself. Good work.
Nice Al Jolson imitation Steve. Hope the clutch pucks were sinitered metal and not an organic clutch. Breathing that crap isn't good on the lungs.
Those ring gears are easy to replace once you've done a couple. Heat the ring gear to 400-450F for 30-45 minutes, then quickly drop on the flywheel and watch the ring gear shrink. There's a couple thousands of an inch interference. Removing them is much easier using liquid nitrogen.
You might want to make some partially threaded bolts to use as studs for clutch and transmission work.
O-H-I-O Porter greetings 🇺🇸 Ok, Dude! You looked like that truck was working YOU over instead of you working it over! That’s the way it is with any big truck…no fun unless you wear it from head to toe! I have never seen the ring gear break like that! Let’s claim it on defective Chinesium parts! I sure was a grunting for ya!! That’s truly a 2 Man job! I liked the yellow marking of the bolts. Learned that trick long ago. Hope that the test drive proved everything in order & ready to roll! That’s one way to enjoy the fruits of your labor! That was enough work to get done in 3 days & by yourself mostly! Don’t worry about the rusty wheels man! Time to get trucking now! You’re probably in Michigan now. Enjoy, my friend! Blessings! 🤩🥰✌️
I appreciate you showing how you keep your body intact by being nowhere close to under the flywheel etc. while it is on lifting gear alone. Your body stayed outside the frame rails when possible..
Excellent repair job
Damn, got to take everything apart to get to that. Broken in two. Will that take a week to machine everything? Fast forward to you having the gear to put everything back. Nice to see it being put together. Sweet to see it back and working
Nope. Hot another new one.
@@fsctrucking My mistake. You did mention you gotten it from the shop that did the drive axles gears.
On the road again awesome👍
You do a great job
Great channel Love watching an old school guy work and no gloves required . Looking forward to next videos
I would never sell Or-well that truck is awesome..🚛
How did Orwell break the ring gear from the flywheel? Well, Orwell is a big, strong, burly, made in the U.S. of A. beast and Orwell said "lemme show you what I think of these cheaply made parts we got to contend with these days". And there you have it.
Glad to see Orwell running again.
الله يعطيك القوة عمل متقن
Looks good and your getting close to the hundred thousand mark.
Close....
Some proper graft doing that job alone👌nice to see the rim is still boosting the comments 😂😂
Takes alot of love to keep these old workhorses going, my ugly columbia glider truck, Greta, has had some expensive fits as well
Good job, sir, especially by yourself AND filming.
Glad to see Orwell is feeling better and ready to work!
Love this video. Satisfying to complete a great job.
For a minute there, I thought Uncle Fester was working on Orwell!
Hey Steve...you look better as one of us brother 🤣🤣🤣
Every time I see Orwell he looks better and better. Nice one.
Good job Steve getting Orwell back going
Congratulations, Steve🤙🤙🤙🤙
Hey Steve. First, nice job on the clutch and flywheel; I know what it feels like when you go to do a simple adjustment, and something breaks. It sucks.
However, as you'll be in my neck of the woods for the Michigan Southern Truck, Trains, 'n More" event, I'll try to catch you this weekend! I know my nephew would love seeing Orwell, and my niece and nephew live right down the street from the Adrian & Blissfield Railroad line as it runs through town, so seeing the trains would be cool as well.
Hope to see you this weekend, Steve. Looking forward to meeting you and Orwell!
Putting a clutch in one of those trucks can test your nerves but at least you know that the clutch has been put in right and all the bolts are tight and all the wires are hooked back up
Wow, big job for one man. Lots of craftiness on display. Those looked like high quality and expensive parts for sure.
All done
Nicely done buddy hey everything you done it by yourself whit no help
It's good to see Orwell running again. The Kenworth was nice but it was too quiet, hang in there brother 🙏
I'm sure driving the company truck was enjoyable. But dang it,
Orwell is just freaking COOL
Good job👍
That was tiring to watch Steve, damm fine job on your own 👍🏆.
Thanks for sharing
When torquing nut or bolts, the first click is all that's needed. The extra clicks accomplish no more than one click. Also, like the guy below says, now would be a good time to paint that ugly rusted rim. You said you were going to replace them with aluminum wheels. The rims on it work, they just need some tlc.
Save your self lots of money 💰 a good macanic steve getting Orwell back on the road
Just got the last mack mp8 flywheel in the state , for that same issue . Except ring gear spun on this one
You look like Al Jolson you gonna sing mammy😂
its always good when you can work on your own stuff and to have the know how on how things work
Right on. Nice to see Orwell fixed
I hope that you had help because with that much weight it is very dangerous to work by yourself. Fred from London Ontario Canada
He probably has a t r a ns jack
Steve used an engine hoist, aka a cherry picker, to lift the old parts out and put the new parts in. If you look carefully, at least on the flywheel, he used a bolt and nut to hold them once he got them loose.
While ideal to have some help, what Steve did was safe, and something you can do in a pinch.
holy smokes steve what a mess won't be long for orwell to be rolling down the road safe travels job well done
"That's not supposed to be that way"
I feel bad for laughing, but I couldn't help it 😂😂
This was one of your best ever videos. Great work Steve.
Steve great video I'm sure you are glad to get that done what a job by yourself.
I have never seen one break like that in my 46 year's of trucking.
If I was closer id been happy to help you but I was in md when you was working on orwell.ill catch up with you out on the big road one of these days.
Wow!! You got the Big O rolling already! Don't know how you do it!!
Never seen one do that before
The fact that you tackle this job on your lonesome, when you know its a 2 or 3 man job shows you are determined, great job Steve.
That’ Sir was impressive!
your face is awesome. haha. another great video. cheers.
Using a greasy shirt to clean sweat from my face was a mistake....
Always good videos Steve
Time for Orwell to start turning heads on the open road and at the rest stops
Good job steve
Orwell 💪🏻💪🏻💙🏴
Good job!!
Looks like where ends of gear welded together is where it broke . Crappy QC on weld , . Or gear material brittle . As it didn’t slip on flywheel I would of warmed up new gear and installed on flywheel . But that’s up to u . Had good success with quality replacement components . No matter it’s the shitz that China is behind bad quality. ! Installed my first ring gear on Minneapolis Moline tractor 1961 start young doing this stuff on a farm and ranch .
