Heck, for the price of a Jeep Grand Cherokee, might as well get yourself Lexus RX350. You're definitely get an upgrade from being in a Standard SUV to Luxury SUV and 100% more reliability.
All Chrysler products and still having transmission issues-- I owned 2 Plymouth acclaims in the 90's (budget reasons) and both had to have their transmissions replaced at about 50-60k miles. good to see consistency in an automaker--
@Supernaut2000 My neighbor had one, it was at the dealer as much as it was in his driveway, he was always driving a dealer loaner. One day when we were both outside we got into talking about vehicles. He said I see you like Toyota's, I have a 2020 Rav4 my wife a 2018 Camry. He asked are they as reliable as they say? I said yup! A week later he came home in a new Highlander and now thanks me every time I see him...lol
There hasn't been a real Jeep since Chrysler killed off AMC's square-bodied Cherokee. Now most of them are just Dodge's with Jeep-looking bodies, and the rest are just Fiat's with Jeep-looking bodies.
Failed Italian Attempt at Transpotation in Germany they say Fehler In Alle Teilen which means mistakes in every part. Stellantis owns Citroen and could use those platforms for the US and even though they are crap too they are still better than Fiat.
It’s not Chrysler corporation. It’s Stellantis now because the company was destroyed by the Germans (Daimler), the Italians (FCA), and now the weird French alliance they have
They've tried to 4 times during my lifetime, but govt loans and being bought by other companies have kept them afloat. Stellantis is an investment group, so they will probably let Chrysler die off like they've been trying to do for decades.
Diamond motors, Daimler Chrysler, FCA and now Stellantis. Chrysler is like the one girlfriend who’s been passed around and abused so many times that she’s developed a drug problem.
Funny how the least reliable brands are charging the most outrageous prices for their vehicles. Dodge, Jeep, GM should be ashamed. While they focus on making 700 hp Jeeps, Toyota quietly makes reliable Camrys, Corollas, RAVs and Highlanders. While Asia and Europe have been making small, reliable engines for years and recently turbos, the BIg3 are still obsessed with old pushrod engines that are inefficient and increased mass that hinders performance, handling, braking and MPG.
Right, you forgot the Theta engines, had one in a Sonata, it ate 1.5 quarts of oil every 1,000 miles and we finally got it replaced under warranty. They kept arguing that it was "normal consumption" under 1 quart every 1,000 miles. My wife loves the brand or I would have never bought one...
Hi I like keeping my cars for a long time. Thus, do you feel vehicles with touchscreens to control the heating/air con etc will become less reliable as a car ages, due to future glitches in the systems and the possible costs to replace the entire system if it stops working?
Touch screen only for heating/AC is absolutely a terrible thing. Those screens will not last as long as buttons, switches, dials, sliders, etc. Do your best to find something that lets you control that and radio with physical controls instead of just the touch screen. It's also safer to adjust things with physical controls, since you don't need to look to know you're manipulating them while driving.
No, because we haven't made physical linkage controls in a long time. When people complain about lack of buttons, they don't realize the button press simply executes the command just like the touch screen or voice command.
This video is kind of BS it's literally one brand and Tesla. We all know that Jeep Ram Chrysler and Dodge are the same company. So what are the other three least reliable?
I am not surprised to see Dodge on this list. The worst car I ever owned many years ago was a new Dodge. Such a money pit. I have only owned Toyotas for the past decade.
So 10 year old cars have problems, shocker! Also not surprised it's all Stellantis and Tesla, one makes cheap cars for the masses, the other has followed the "cell phone" mentally of planned obsolescence with batteries being the real limiting factor. Also this does not tell the viewer where the surveyed owners were located, a car in the rust belt will never hold up as well as one in say Arizona, so a Chevy in Arizona will always have less issues that a Dodge in Detroit, that's not an equitable comparison and the video says nothing about it. One other thing: surveys like this are generally biased, who is more willing to fill out a survey a satisfied customer or someone who bought a bad used car and wants to complain? I'm not saying this is not decent information, but the devil is in the details and there are very few given here...
Thanks to the Dodge brand family the other domestic manufacturers get a break here. Probably a good reason to keep the Dodge family alive and going a few more years.
Dodge? Thirty years ago, I was asleep on a friends couch awaiting my move-in date for my newly purchased house. In the middle of the night, I heard a big pop, like a can exploding. I opened my eyes. The ceiling was kind of orange and flickering. I instantly jumped up thinking fire. I looked outside. A Dodge Neon parked in front of the apartment was ablaze. I had seen it there when I got home from work. Neighbors were outside rushing to move their cars parked right next to it. Like something out of Ukraine. I'm sure Dodge has gotten better? Maybe? But I'll never buy a car from that family tree.
No, they've gotten worse! Why do you think Daimler-Benz dumped them at a tremendous loss? Fiat, makers of fine junk, bought them, then Stellantis bought FCA, and they're going to let Chrysler die off like they should have decades ago.
Replacing the Tesla battery pack isn't a defect. That's how all EVs are. All EV owners will have to do that eventually, which lowers the resale value of the car. Because whoever buys it may soon have to pay for a new battery pack too.
Consumers gives relative ranks but not a good sense of actual reliability. How likely am I to actually have a serious engine problem in 5 years with a "bad" car and how much more is that expected to cost me? Because if you said "5% chance you have a $5000 repair in 5 years" I'd probably say "meh" if I'm already plunking down for a new car
I had a 2012 Audi Q5 3.2. I was only the second owner and this was by far the least reliable car my entire family has ever seen. Every month, I had a new issue
I have owned 2 ram 1500's , the 2010 totaled by a drunk. 167k and all I ever had to do was change the oil and fill the gas tank. Now I have a 2017 Ram 1500 with 122k and zero problems. Never trusted CR and still don't.
Maybe there are legit reasons to not trust CR, but your personal experience isn't one of them. Your two experiences to not represent a statistically significant sample size. Glad you have had positive experiences with your vehicles though.
The thing is that people still buy this junk used/new. They fool themselves into thinking its good. Jeep has got to be the worst offender. Yes, there were some things that decent. But now you couldn't give one to me.

Wow! All Stellantis, all the time. (With a guest appearance by older Tesla models.)
Basically, Stellantis (Alfa Romeo was spared though) and Tesla.
Older Tesla (S&X). Once the new Model 3/Y came out, they've been near bulletproof.

Usual suspects.

Not surprised with Tesla as my friend already have Infotainment screen replaced on his brand new Tesla Model 3.
Thats an LG screen btw.
