    I'm sure the woman had a lot on her mind, but there's no point in taking that pickup to her house. Insurance is going to total it, and even if it doesn't have comprehensive coverage, it'll cost way more to repair than it's worth. Good job getting it strapped down, cleaned up, and hauled away.

    That truck was badly damaged. Probably in the best interest of the owner to have it towed to the yard, and have the insurance take care of matters. Very well might be a total loss.

    • @sarukmaktao225
      @sarukmaktao225 10 месяцев назад +6

      @@user-tb7rn1il3q People know tow storage costs extra, and they don't want to be responsible for that. Not knowing their insurance will take care of it. Or, if you just release the vehicle to the tow shop, they might waive storage and scrap it to get value from it that way. (Not sure, depends on the company, I guess.)
      But I've had some tows myself, people wanted the wreck to go home. Unless an impound is ordered, I'm not required to take it to my yard. But someone has to pay for the tow before I release the vehicle, so, if they really want to pay up front, I'll take it to their house.

    I'm fairly certain a good Constitutional lawyer could make a case that it's unconstitutional and an illegal seizure for the city, county, state to force you to have no say in where your vehicle goes when being towed by a company not of your choosing. I understand placing limits on distance, but forcing someone who was just in an MVC to have no choice in where their car goes can't be legal. If the proposed drop-off destination is within the pre-set limits of the towing company that is responding, they should be required to take it where you want it, with the caveat that you would pay any extra mileage incurred over the amount that would've been to the impound lot or tow yard they would've otherwise gone to.

      No, that’s the department wanting it to go to storage, because they got sued after they turned a vehicle over to the wrong person.
      So now they have the rotation tows go to the yard.
      Personally I’d rather drop it at the customers place so I get payed up front.

    • @Towtruck_Dustin
      @Towtruck_Dustin  10 месяцев назад

      In this case, it’s the department. They say we have to take it to the yard before releasing it. Apparently they got sued for giving a vehicle to the wrong person, so now they won’t let us take it anywhere but the yard.
      Any other department doesn’t care, and we will haul it anywhere you want as long as you pay the charges at the drop.

      Ive wondered the same thing. When I was towing it was 24/7..365. Its not a career for just anyone. It is very demanding . It requires the dedication of a zealot and the rationality to be utterly Zealous for the lifestyle and still keep your life under control. 25 years of my life was a marriage to my work. It cost me EVERYTHING. My wife hated it. I loved every minute of it. I got over her eventually . . Not towing. 💪

      I was the first tow operator on the scene, by quite a while, and also the first to leave. I passed one of the other tow trucks coming in, on my way out.
      Even then, the cops had to keep the road shut down for a while, so that they could finish cleaning up, and the power company could stabilize the power pole the other truck was stuck on.
