I wish they showed this movie in every school so students would know what bullying can do to everyone around the bully and the bullied. It causes a scar one can carry for the rest of their lives. Like in the anime both of them were hurt for the rest of their lives even after they forgave each other the scars were still there still causing them pain and guilt.
This movie helped me a lot. I was a really bad human, I was a bully. After seeing this movie I changed a lot. I help my juniors study now and help everyone.
Read the manga it’s about 9x better it explains everything and goes more in depth and the movie cut a lot out it would’ve been better as a 12 episode series than they could’ve added everything in

Since then, I have watched it 25 more times, including last night. A Silent Voice became my favorite movie of all time, and I think without question one of the best movies ever made. This is a very beautiful film, and I think everyone should experience this masterpiece once in their lifetime. I'm going to love and cherish it for as long as I live.

wow just wow, reminds of me and my wife. well I'm the one who save her from being bully back in high school never though we get married, 20 years now. Show her this anime to her a few years back, and it made her cry. Its still one of our favorite. We met in middle school, it was like love at first sight and when she did sign language the class mates were laughing. But to me its was the most interesting thing ever. Me and another and my wife became close friends, I was able to learn sign language. We started dating in our freshman year until her parents and older brother found out. They cast me out like a lost animal, they said I was just using her because she's special which broke my heart. We broke up after that but still hang out in school, both her older brothers didn't like me and would cuss me out, but I didn't care because I liked/ love her. Our sophomore year came, I walk up to her being bully by some girls and guys one day, I cut in and broke up the commotion. The girl who was bullying her didn't like it and cuss at me but I ignore her, as I grab my wife's hands and turn around the bully girl grab my pony tail and yank my head back. I turn around and shove her to the ground and told her to stand down. But, out nowhere her boy friend grab me and threw me the the ground and started punching me. My wife grab the boyfriend and try to pull him away. the boyfriend grab my wife and shove her to the ground. the bully her than got on top of my wife and started smacking her. When I saw that, I turned beast mode I was able to pull the boyfriend off and smack him in the face knocking him out. I then run up to the bully girl and push her off. as I was trying to pick my wife off the ground, I got punch in the back. One on one became four on one, the fight ended with me about to kick their asses. when the school security came and stopped it. That's when I turn to look at my wife to see if she was okay and saw one of her brothers calming her down. I got a week suspension my dad got piss cussed me out when he came to pick me up. As me and my dad was walking the car her parents and brothers came over with tears in theirs eyes. And said they were sorry for doubting me and that they are happy and want me to be by her side forever if I choose to. Long story short, we got married after high school class of 2001, got our bachelors and had 3 handsome older boys and 1 beautiful baby girl together.
I once punched a friend in school years ago bc she got on my nerves but when she moved I never got to say sorry until I saw her right before lock down I told her I was so sorry and now we talk everyday
Seriously when Shoya headed towards Shouko's home I thought oh, there's gonna be a "him walking in on her changing clothes kind of cliché" but it ended up being something completely different, I was shook. I loved the movie.
this movie shows how a human has the capability of changing his soul and the others onces.. when you see it it may be for you that easy but in fact it's so complicated and hard to solve that tangled knot of many years of difficulties.. ishida shouya is so strong and did alot of efforts to correct his faults and the most important correcting himself to learn how to remove all those masks (X) from their faces.. this movie is just legend

I was bullied in school for over 9 years, people I thought were friends joining the bully and the school system did nothing about it, still have some scars from back then. A silent voice also slightly hits closer to me since I didn't even know i was almost fully deaf (only can hear from my left side and slowly fading) until i visited the doctors after my parents noticed i wasn't hearing well in year 10 at school and my grades started to drop. After all the bullying I'm still somewhat anxious of meeting new people but I be as cheerful as possible to put a good first impression so i can open up at the start in my way, now on after all that shit I don't really care anymore. I live my life too its fullest and do things that make me happy, video games and my career in video game industry mainly 3d modelling and environments. To keep it simple. Don't let the past change your future, live you life to its fullest, sadly we only got one.

I can really relate to this movie, only because I used to kinda bully someone when I was a child only because everyone else did and I was the class clown. Eventually I got into highschool and I got bullied myself, I was in a new country and I was the new kid, didn't know anyone and got teased a lot. I hated myself and thought I deserved it but I eventually learned to love myself and got out of the bullying cycle by being more confident with myself. I spoke more and expressed myself, nobody could say I'm the quiet weird kid anymore.
Why the sad face? I think it's a very happy story. A story about abuse and bullying, about guilt and atonement, about forgiveness and about finally being able to move on. And a sweet romance story too.
