Germany has reduced its budgetary allocation for Ukraine aid. From the $8.7 Billion set aside in 2024, Germany has reduced it to about $4.35 Billion in 2025. Berlin says that Ukraine will not be short of funds because it will get loans from the proceeds of Russian assets. But is Germany reducing aid for another reason? Is Berlin worried that Trump won't defend NATO members like Germany who don't contribute their fair share to defence?

As a Brit born in 1940 on the cusp of WWII the day after the Dunkirk evacuation Starmer certainly does not represent the values that we cherish. This is misleading. Germany's direct aid for Ukraine is being cut because the EU aid package for Ukraine passed. There is no longer a need for individual countries in the EU to give money directly. Ukraine is getting more money in 2024 than it did in 2023 from Europe, it is just coming from the EU directly rather than individual countries. Military aid is still coming from individual countries.

You always hear Europeans say that America has lots of money, but we actually don't. America isn't that rich, at least not the federal govt.
