- In this video, I show you how to utilize the new Add Files from Drive feature within Document Merge for Google Docs extension/addon to add Google Documents or other files into the spreadsheet so that you can Combine these Documents together.
I also show you that the text formatting within the Google Docs are copied over to the resulting merged document.
You can use this Google Workspace Addon with for following use cases:
1. HR departments or subcontractors can utilize this tool to build employee document packages.
2. Book publishers, whether it be traditional books, ebooks or epub books can use this extension to establish a process to consistently build their books.
3. User manuals and user guides for products: tech writers can utilize this to establish a process to rebuild or update their guides and manuals easily, say they only updated a few chapters.
Document Merge for Google Docs Addon is a Google Sheet Addon that allows you to merge multiple Documents stored in Google Drive into one Google Doc. It combines Google Docs, HTML Files, txt files, Microsoft Word Documents, RTF documents into one Google Docs file. It will also recursively go through all files within a given Google Drive file.

Is there a limit to how many google document files I can merge into one file? I have about 400 or so.
The limitation is how big the files are and how slow they will run. If you don’t have a paid Google workspace email, it will time out in less than 6-7 minutes.
You can do them in batches. Also, there’s a maximum number of characters per Google document. I forgot how many characters.
Do you know of anything that will merge just let's say 1 section from differnt docs together? I'm looking to combine summary paragraphs from different documents. Thanks!
There needs to be a way to mark those summary paragraphs so the system can determine which paragraphs to pick. Are you marking the summary somehow ?
I thought about this a little bit more and I think it is possible to use headings as a way to tag a paragraph to include for the system to know. However, this is fairly complicated to add if there is enough people who want it I can add this feature. Let just say if there are at least 20 likes on this comment I’ll be happy to add this. As a way to gauge the importance of this feature.

What i want is way more simple like a importdata function for google docs like from page 2 to 15 to another google docs, being live synced. Like importdata() function.
@georgeegeorge very interesting requirement, similar to Google sheets. And yeah that's even more complex than what I initially posted above. With that feature your document needs to be updated regularly almost every second. Might need to be its own extension. How many other folks do you work with that might need this feature? first time I'm hearing it.
