The COVID-19 pandemic has changed our lives in unimaginable ways. Where physical meetings
decreased, a need for personal space increased. We anticipate lives to be more connected yet
separated from one another.
Five pavilions designed as different cottages to display the much necessary sense of contemporary Japanese design: 10 rooms under one roof where the shared space offer at the same time the privacy and personal moments one would desire. The heightened ceilings provide the necessary depth and height for the dividers to create a separation.
The villa is constructed to be surrounded by a lake enhancing the concept of biophilia. Biophilia essentially means to love nature, but more specifically it describes human’s innate attraction to nature. Your home is no more a place you spend the bare minimum time, the pandemic has forced us to stay indoors for months together making it important to create a space that brings you ZEN.
When you think about ZEN and minimalism you think about Japanese interiors.
This concept is deeply integrated into creating the space. The Organic design influence creates a timeless elegance of a Japanese aesthetic to create a style that brings together minimal, elegance and emphasizes the importance of creating function-driven spaces.
The colour palette is neutral and takes its influence from a typical Japanese household. The rich colour palette of Japanese design gives the room more warmth to space and helps create a minimal yet everlasting look.
When we return to normal, there is no doubt a certain fear of contagion will linger. Now more than ever, we need to focus on reviewing on creating our very own space.
“A modern space with utmost Zen and luxury.”
