Yes it's amazing. I feel iffy on using a cane but I have scoliosis and really bad back pain and it's hard to do stuff some days but I feel like I shouldn't use it but it does help so much

As someone without mobility issues, it would just be a hassle for me to carry around a cane, if that's not the case for you or if you feel that it will help you in any way, you should give it a shot or talk to a doctor about it ❤

You should also do forearm crutches! They’re so under-appreciated. It’s astonishing how many folks have tried mine, realized it was exactly what they needed to be more mobile, then gone on to buy some.

Gurrrl you just made me cry! I need a cane due to muscular dystrophy and seeing you flaunting that cane and getting ready for date night just made me so hopeful. I'm looking into this right now and taking the dive to just go for it and buy one for myself. Thank you for giving me hope that even with my disability I can still get the things I need for myself and not feel shame about it.

Dude you have to get one! So cool! Love that you can put a lot of style into it. I'm able bodied but I think this is such a cool and wholesome concept. Do something nice for yourself. Hope you find something you like. And strong confidence (accepting where you are) plus being good company means so much more to people. Omg same, i have knee troubles because of sports i do so i often have to use a walking aid because of the pain and stuff so this just makes me so happy to see I can't ahhhh😭 I got one of those ugly ass crutches because my insurance won't pay for anything else;-; (I've had this thing for so long I'm just waiting for it to fall apart lul:'))

Mobility aids are incredibly versatile with appearances, and can be personalized to an incredible degree :] I used to be really ashamed for needing things to help me (and sometimes I still am, we're working on that lmao) but these types of videos have been a wonderful change of perspective

When my aunt was still alive, she had her butterfly cane! It was a pink cane covered in butterflys!! I wish she was still here with us, shed adore a new cane that was pink and bubbly!

“You can make your disability look stylish too” is literally the saying I LIVE by when designing a disabled character.
It is so fun getting to design these ultra personalized mobility aids for these characters. I honestly find it so satisfying designing these tools to perfectly fit to match my characters styles, personalities and stories.
I honestly wish more people would experiment with writing and designing disabled characters so they can see just how fun and gratifying it is

I had a lot of fun putting stickers on my cane, and when the stopper on the bottom wore out I got a green one to go with the bronze/copper type color of it! It's so nice having mobility aids you like the look of/making them really feel like theyre yours this is so cool to see!

I’m so glad more and more people are normalizing mobility aids.
I started using a cane around 15 years ago and back then people told me I was “faking” (because it’s impossible for a 20-something woman to need a cane), family told me I was “giving up”, people in stores literally made fun of me right in front of me (one time these teen boys made a game out of trying to kick my cane out from under me to see if I’d fall).
Now people don’t really even notice I have a cane. But in the best way. Like, I’m just a normal person again.
Years ago I spray painted my black cane to bright purple because in crowded places folks were kicking my cane simply because they didn’t see it.
Making it a bright color means that they see it enough that they’re not knocking me over anymore, but I haven’t been yelled at or mocked within my hearing in a long time.
I’ve also been seeing more folks with wheelchairs and forearm crutches that are also bright colors and/or decorated with stickers.
I love it. My cane is almost part of me. It should reflect my personality just like my clothes do. And in “dressing” my cane, it keeps me safer anyway because it makes people more aware that it’s there and that I need a slightly bigger personal bubble to walk in.

As someone with a chronic illness who just started using a cane (A very basic, walgreens foldable one), I LOVE it when people like me take their tools in stride and use it as a functional fashion statement. I've always been very function over fashion (the problems of sensory issues...) so realizing that something I rely on (like wheelchairs, canes, etc) can be more than a tool and something to be ashamed of (I'm not even an adult yet so walking around with a cane feels awkward, especially among my peers)!

Oh, that's awesome! Aside from one person that I was in the same writing circles with on a different site who'd painted their cane hot pink, I've never seen anyone with a customised cane before! I think the collapsible black quad-based ones my mum gave me after she'd switched hers out (same height and same genetic condition) is about as close to 'different,' but it doesn't hold a candle to those ones! Honestly, if I end up with a greater need for a walking aid, I might just be tempted to browse their stock. This is rad as heck!
