Also called Yenye, Indra Jatra is the biggest street festival in Kathmandu. In ancient time, lord Indra arrives the beautiful Kathmandu valley to collect flowers of Parijat(night flowering Jashmine)for puja as per the request of his mother. The locals, after finding an unknown peron in the city, stealing flower from gardens, arrest him. So, he is kept in public with tied hands and legs. In jatra as well, we tie the legs and hands of Idol till now. Then, Airawat, the elephant comes searching his master, but gets lost. We have "Pulu Kishi", the disguised elephent roaming in the Jatra too to show that. After Pulu Kishi couldn't save his master, the mothet of Indra arrives, and then she vows to give rain for harvesting in Kathmandu. Only after that, Indra is freed. So, till this date, we don't pluck the flowers of Parijat, as Indra took it to the heaven. We pick them after theybfall on the ground. This festival is one of the chief festivals of Nepal observed for 8 days. It might be because of the glory of god, because of which it always rain in Indra Jatra. We also have procession of Kumari, the only living goddess during the Jatra !! Long live Nepal, the abode of gods 🇳🇵🇳🇵🇳🇵

Lord Indra is still worshiped in Tamil Nadu. Infact the festival of harvest (Pongal) is celebrated to thank Indra(m), Surya(n), Varuna(n), Vaayu & Kuber(an). Indra was never disrespected during the vedic time. Today many serials are made disrespecting Indra which should not be appreciated/accepted. If disrespecting Indra is appreciated today then the same could happen for other God(s) as well in the future. There are many good qualities of Indira(m) that are more than worthy enough to be worshiped. Om Jai Shri Indira(m). The praise worthy who come to our aid, we call Indra(m).
Indro dirghaya caksasa a suryam rohayaddivi
Superficial meening : Indra has raised the Sun in the Heavens for the eternal view.

Some corupt sages removed his name from the hall of records to enshure that he would not be found when he be incarnated back like they normally seek after the return of great masters like they still do in budhism .
Only because they thought not need him in this time of darkness so that they were free to do all kind of corrupt things against the human right of freedom or indoctrination to misuse their power over others with their lies and dogma's,but those times are changeing now the veil they builded is crumbling down and make more people each day see what otherwise was hiden for them ,and will expose the liers and deceivers for all their wrong doings.

Lord Indra represents desires, impulsive nature of insecurity of the human mind. He Dosen't want to let go of Swarga. In order to protect his chair, he keeps disturbing the penance of Rishi's and Earthly Kings. His wife is Shachi. He has a son Jayanta and two daughters, Jayanthi who is married to Lord Shukra and Devasena who is married to Lord Karthik

Indian media is spreading lies on TV, there are 100+ songs and hymns dedicated to indra for his courageousness, valor and strength in rigveda . He is not a drunkard or arrogant. Britishers have altered our puranas. Vedas are the original source. They also portrayed the Supreme being shiva as coward when he fled from bhasmasur.

I think the more realistic reason Indra isn't worshipped anymore is because of the popularization of the other gods in the Puranas. Ganesh, Devi (Parvati/Durga/Kali/Lakshmi/Saraswati), Shiva, Vishnu, Surya, Hanuman, and Skanda/Murugan are the prominent devas now along with Navgrahas. Because the Vedas are still use in the most important and fundamental rituals, the names of Indra, Agni, and Varuna are still heard during prayers, but you probably won't find their picture in anyone's ghar mandir.

@@tc2334 yep even in greek culture and roman culture they were made into physical forms. But my point is that Ganesha, Siva, Kali etc are idolised and they came out of the bhakti cult of native India. Or maybe a combination of native and aryan people. Indian race had already become mixed within 500 years of Arya migration into India. 500 years is a very long time for cultures and people to intermingle and a new culture to be formed. Things like temples, offering flowers etc are majorly adopted from native elements because vedic arya way of worship was worshipping physical reality like forces of nature and the sacrificial rites to them and they never really did bhakti rather they did dhyana and rites performing towards their gods.

A little correction according to my knowledge i.e Indra is the king of demigods not the king of Gods !!!
No one rules over Brahama Vishnu and Mahesh because they are considered as the supreme God.

In Hinduism there is only one God called Brahman(om ) all pervading omnipresent pure consciousness bliss which has no name or form from which the trinity (brahma, vishnu, siva ) exist. They are incarnations of supreme God Brahman and called devathas. In heaven there are 33 crore devathas (not god ) and their head Indra. God is only Brahman one only without a second.Hindus worship only Brahman some directly or some through devathas.

I identify as Christian. Yet this deity shown his face in the clouds yesterday after a light rain shower plus a double rainbow before. At first I thought it was a feminine spirit but then I did some research and found Indra's picture it was the exact characteristics I saw in the sky. I've dabbled in the occult in the past which has lead to me to convert to Christianity. I'm just curious as why he would show his face. I feel something is coming.
