These straps are wider than MEPC and won’t work with comm sleeves or shoulder pads. We’re updating them to 2.0😘 but that’ll be a few months. If it doesn’t say APOC compatible then it’s not
We'll wait patiently for comm sleeve 2.0
Sooo...APOC 2.0 coming when?
shhhh!!
We've come full circle, its cool to have soft armor again
Kinda makes you wonder when the coyote tan interceptors and digis are gonna be back in vogue
People forgot arty existed until ukraine lol
@@Anarcho-harambeismIt’s not that they forgot we just didn’t fight a force that had the real capability to level an entire grid square but when I was in Afghanistan we still had soft armor and hard plates and that was 2019-2020 so take that how you want it
@justisheitz1038 I was talking about the new carrier by the army and usmc. I'm guard and quite accustomed to the iotv lol, I'm just making a modern version that isn't over engineered like army equipment sometimes is
@@Anarcho-harambeismI used both gen3 and 4 IOTV and the MSV GEN 1 and 2 all 4 of which I wore soft armor with hard plates but I’m picking up what youre putting down
DM is taking it back to GWOT days of the Eagle Industries Carrier. Better Strap system and Modularity . I wonder if some of the DM parts will fit the EI carrier....
Youre always my favorite soft goods reviewer man, you should be way bigger than you are. Keep up the great work and it was nice to see you at SHOT. I tried to go onto the TLD website to buy a patch and the merch page is blank, not sure whats going on there. Maybe its my browser.
Are you calling him fat?
Walsh you rock! Thanks for being the Wizard we need.
You guys are badass!

I can now tell my grandkids I was there when the hybrid category for plate carrier reviews was invented. Awesome breakdown, Walsh and Jason. As someone who is neither LE nor MIL, I still want this plate carrier. 😊
Getting better all the time. Have a look at the just released Templar's Gear Duty version of the Cataphract (with III-A soft-armor from Ace Link Armor).
I've been asking Agilite and other for a while now to make a large soft ballistic vest that also accepts rifle plates, and that is secure like a plate carrier. So ballistic 3a protection all around, maybe the new and thin SafeLife Defense panels, but then also a way to safely hold plates above that. Like the new german MOBAST vest - but better!
This would appeal to a lot of police/swat teams that mostly face handgun threats and appreciate greater soft armor coverage while also having rifle protection (ideally from thin and light level3 or level 4 ICW plates). But vehicle turret gunners and grunts that mostly dig trenches against artillery shrapnel could also use it. Even more belly and side protection than BALCS.
I wanted a Pincer placard that is MOLLE on the back and not Velcro. Bonus if it is 4 mags wide.
The final shape of the k19 suggests it was originally supposed to fit soft armor and was later cut down to save costs. I still run soft armor backers in mine but that's not the same thing as having full 3A protection all the way around by any means
Walsh I made a frag cloak for a friend using heavy wool and dynema. 30 lays of dynema in an outer wrap of heavy wool then double stitched and its keeping him warm Ukraine right now and taken a few loads of frag.
Did you happen to wrap it in mylar? Asking for a friend....
-Walsh
@@ThinLineDefenseCo No why would I use something A) so incredibly noisy, and B) an incredible risk of being seen if it ever caught the light.
Very thorough review Welch. Very Wizard, much Jimithy.
Still no sandwich pouch....
On my Agelite Zero i added an HRT Maximus and Dangler, so it is sandwich capable.
@MrKingArthurhk i need one with a foil type liner on the inside too keep them warm and small pouches on the inside for condiments
@@joshjosh7029Grilled cheese?
DM making some good products right now.
The review wishlist:
Quore performance inner belt and iceplate exo carrier, Blueforce gear GRID belt with their holster adapter and tenspeed chest rig, Agilites new battle belt, Aliengear and other duty holster alternatives to Safariland, Beez I/O belt, Shaw Concepts Usurper Belt.
And a test / comparison / showoff between all the ultra high candela lights. Surefire, Modlite, Arisaka, Malkoff,...
I have....most of these things...maybe not all the lights. I got some pew pews that super exciting which may slow me down a bit. I apparently need the Shaw belt....
-Walsh
Nice!
This is an incredibly well thought out civilian plate carrier. More options for 3a protection is always great.
Nice AGENCY patch. (Shot Show? 🤔) Great review. Thank you! Great content as always Walsh and Jason. God bless! Be safe! 🤙🪖👮🙏🇺🇲
hah I snagged some swag and the new shirt off the website
-Walsh
Thank you, Walsh Actual!
This carrier seems amazing! I’m glad we’re getting back to more protection, I know the minimalist plate carriers are all the rage, but I think something that can incorporate the frag armor is the way to go. All the adjustments on this are nuts!
#BlooperGang #OrangeJerkCat #BestDMShirt
Kind of like how BALCS carriers are coming back into vogue again. Always liked just having that extra layer of armor both for soft protection AND it's helped me with weight distribution
This puts my Armor Express traverse carrier to shame. I wish I could buy one of these. And yes, I still rock HSGI they are the only ones that make useful LAPD Navy molle pouches!
How was it with both the IIIA soft armor and level IV plates in the carrier at the same time? Would ceramic side plates fit on the cummerband?
Have you lost some weight brother? Lookin good! Keep it up.
working on it haha appreciate it!
need a flack jacket category for this
This I love
This I want
This I cant afford
Thanks Grand Master Wizzard
What soft armor fits? Does DM not sell armor? I am looking for large soft panels to increase the coverage of a light PC. Specifically got the idea of using velcro strips on the wear side of the plate bag to add and remove soft panels like Shaw. Are there any other soft panels like that or any other attachment mechanisms?
The main apoc is Balcs cut but they do over different variation for different IIIa panels. DM doesn't currently sell their own armor at this time....I don't think. DM has that same inner velcro option for their hybrid cummerbund but I think the panels are only shaw....possibly Javlin concepts too.
@@ThinLineDefenseCo thank you, as always! 🫡
@ThinLineDefenseCo I see the velcro on the wear face of the AJAC. Am I correct, that those are only for cushions? I'm going to sew velcro on my own PC. I need help finding more armor that can attach on its own because I can't do the same to my armor by sticking needles through it. The next best thing is Qore IMS pouches, but I don't trust them and at that point I'm basically wearing 2 PCs, so I'd like to avoid that
Hey Walsh. You ever try the idea of sticking the Shaw RAID pouch on the back of a PC as a dangler for IFAK?
Walsh hasn't, but that would probably work great. I have the Ferro Roll 1 IFAK pouch that mounts to rear plate bag. I love it
- Jason
We will be supporting other inserts in the future and will be offering armor down the line too. We’ll be adding more colors this year too, but prob not alpine
Unfortunate.....
Right??? "Oh you're the snow police? too bad... "
@@ThinLineDefenseCo 3.0 will come in Alpine
Have yall tried the Velocity systems scarabs?
Will you please do a UARM FRPC review or do you have any opinions on the company
oooof for those prices just get Shaw or Crye. I'd be a hot no.
-Walsh
I really like DM designs, however i often feel a bit like I got Catfished.
Jacket lasted a whole winter season before it fell apart under a plate carrier.
Their plate carrier has alot of well thought aspects but is fairly uncomfortable & doesn't seem to sit well when running lvl 4 11x14 plates 9lbs.
I do like just how flexible their gear tends to be though. Most places dont think of security personnel & i cant really blame them but their gear does seem to work for odd needs.
I wear mine 80 hours a week & while it does fit my needs the consumable aspects is just alot to get though for myself at least.
I liked the video just because of Bevis
You should call me up from Lincoln for sizing. 5’11 290. Low speed high drag
I’m pretty sure you can use Shaws soft armor with plates since you swap out the spacer mesh pontoons for the soft armor and doesn’t interfere with the plates in the pockets
I thought so too but when I asked he said no. I don't know why it wouldn't work though
-Walsh
@@ThinLineDefenseCo well why not try then cause all I’d see is just some readjustment being done with cummerbund location tbh but huh ig ill check with my arc unless you gonna put out a video on it
Aren't there too many layers of fabric on your front plate bag? I understand the concept of this plate carrier but it also seems excessive having 6 or more layers of nylon on your belly...
This vs 3a concealed vest with slim plate carrier over top?
This.... it's just all smart and integrated
Did I miss any mention of price, availability, or ease of ordering? Or is it so atrocious that it's better left unsaid?
Price a little bit higher than normal but the video was 28 minutes long....I figured I had said enough haha
-Walsh
@@ThinLineDefenseCo always appreciate your reviews, far more than most, and value your opinion. I do feel these questions need to be addressed, and in consideration when being placed. Even though they would obviously still be in first, since they are starting a new catigory. Might make a difference later. Is the process complicated, or do you have to wait for a stupid drop?
nahhh you just order it, DM has gotten pretty popular so it's unfortunately a wait but you just order and don't have to do anything annoying...besides waiting lol
-Walsh
Are the lapg plates really good ??
We opted to do our own testing and the shoulder took a 30.06 and caught it...good enough for us!
-Walsh
@@ThinLineDefenseCo Awsome because I was thinking that plate or a rma
RMA is amazing too... and we have some discount codes.
@@ThinLineDefenseCo do say more lad 👀
TLD10...try that
Belly bands are awesome for heavy kit
there a re a million plate carriers. whats the difference?
I ... spent a whole video explaining that. Did you miss the video that you commented on? lol
-Walsh
I honestly do not use my belly band with my outer carrier.
How much grappling you doing in your carrier? Probably why lol
-Walsh
@@ThinLineDefenseCo honestly I haven’t done much. I work for a smaller town and yeah we fight with people but it’s not on daily basis.
Not a fan of the belly bands… ripped em off all the issued carriers I’ve gotten over the years!
I'm a belly band convert..MORE BELLY BANDS MORE BELLY BANDS
Ugh….
You never seen a First Spear plate carrier have you?
the price to value of first spear carriers just isn't there and why we dont' bother to show them
@@ThinLineDefenseCo I value that floatation carrier. Buy once cry once. Operator style 🥸
I would have bought a Shaw then. It's made by first spear but not designed in 1993
Also, I like this better than the Shaw....and the Shaw is like $2k when assembled
Front plate looks low, like lil jon eastsideboyz low
yea, you want it higher. Between doing the adjustment tests and fitting it to my wife I stopped caring lol but I did note that it was low during the sizing portion
Level 23 wizard? When tf did this happen? Lol
haha I promoted myself.....
-Walsh
@@ThinLineDefenseCo at what level do you get a Jimithy?
Aft. 😂
