My head canon is that every time grant goes to bed a dedicated "fan" sneaks into his house. Hops onto his PC and messes with the hotkeys.

I'm guessing the hotkeys being messed up each time is something to do with dependencies shuffling around? I don't think it's caused by custom mods...?

my friend had the same issues and we only ever played Co-op and he never made multiple profiles, i'm pretty sure some core function of it is just broken and we gave up ever using it

Grid hotkeys best hotkeys. Except when they change around the icon order, always messes me up
damn, i remember this, it's like child hood all over again, like 40 minutes of it...
In the banshee vs marines one (22:42) it is better, i think, to abuse the middle pillar that marines can't see through but a flying unit can.
The banshee can't go above that pillar. It's impassable even for flying units.
Round 28 could've made for a cool segment in a no-build mission, like a spooky space station overrun by Zerg or something.
Damn, I remember this. I saw the achievement for this, decided to go for it, and did it. The medivac tank one... I didn't know that you could click on the medivac to unload where it was. I struggled until I accidentally did it.

About hotkeys: sometimes maps that have custom units, or versions of units from previous expansions mess with the hotkeys.
Thats why I have several sets of hotkeys for each custom map that i play.
I remember beating starcraft master but reset my computer and so I lost progress. Glad achievement persists tho
Hi Grant, don't usually comment but I really appreciate you bringing attention to all these different games from the arcade.

Just want to say I LOVE this new gig of reviewing random arcade games and showing some varied gameplay with them, really helps figure out what's worth trying in the vast arcade landscape. Please make this a regular thing whenever you have a scheduling hole in your usual stuff, its great.
This awakens some memories -- I think I remember struggling through these like 10 years ago lol. Thanks Grant for making me come back to this awesome game (if only as a viewer)

Wow what a blast from the past. The best part of this is that not very far after this map was released, Heart of the Swarm dropped and almost entirely invalidated like almost a third of these challenges, they were not actually accurate to the modern-at-the-time multiplayer of the game anymore lol
Fun fact: It was supposed to be included in Wings of Liberty as the part of it. Map was named Combat Simulation, and you are supposed to play it from Hyperion Armory. However, it got cut from the game (Most likely when campaign was still in development), and the only thing left is the old menu and camera (which is bugged and just aims at the void, you can't see anything except text and button). I recovered it from old game files, and it is just as same as current map, except few differences:
1. It is unfinished, there was only 20 maps out of 30, if i'm not wrong.
2. You cannot warp between challenges.
3. Map used life system: every time you lose, you lose a life. If you lose all of them, simulation ends.
I'm glad they improved and re-added it as a arcade map.

I am so mad that whack a roach went so smoothly for you. They kept retargeting to my weak roaches and I had to leave them buried for a super long amount of time and only managed to win after multiple tries with a single second left.
I'd love to see some more reelcraft/ keystone, or even arcade in general. I hear "the swarms control" custom campaign is great.
I have been really enjoying this Arcade series, it's been nice for me and my friend to rediscover the Arcade! I'm sure others have felt the same, but it's brought the focus back to the user-made-content that isn't custom campaigns!

This was great to watch, I honestly love watching your content while Eating, or doing simple chores. Its fairly calm, Very fun, but isnt overly energetic. Thanks Grant, very cool!

Hey btw, the reason why your burrow hotkey was unbound is because of the arcade you played recently, SC2 Tavern Battle. It also unbounds the phoenix, the voidray and a few other things. I have no idea why

He's on the pending list for SGDQ, because they've not finalized the schedule yet, I think.
Everyone always had that 1 mission they couldn't do for the life of me. For me in ye olden days it was the banshee one, that 1 took me a long time to get right, for my old 2's buddy it was the Dark Templar SCV one and for our 3s buddy it was the Protoss Microinsanity one with the Pheonix and Stalkers.
love this old masterpiece, this was where I actually learned how to mineral walk for the first time!

That's the first time I hear this expression outside of music sample context.
GSL is currently using a round robin round of 10, a change this season from previous seasons. It's got a few people pretty confused lol.
Wow, this brings back memories. I'm proud to say that I actually beat this. You get an achievement and everything. It was fun.
I remember I breezed through all but 3 of these. The 3 stalker 2 Templar vs raven tank marauder, the medivac drop pickup micro and the ghost snipe vs babes. Man that one took me forever! Easily spent an hour in that one alone lol then grant just beats it on like 4th try. Well played sir well played.
Can confirm GGG's suspicion -- yes, it remembers. I just got the 10-mission complete from StarCraft Master last night (with like, 8 of them done years upon years ago)... I'm not good at macro and it wasn't until poking Nova Ops that I discovered you could queue abilities; was a lot of fun there telling siege tanks "go here, then siege mode".

Dang, I JUST played this the other night! The hardest one for me was definitely the Banshee one. I had issues with the hotkeys too, I think it's some sort of compatibility issue since this game came out in WoL.
I had beaten this game when i found it looking for a new portrait to equip. i felt like a boss completing a few of these challenges

WAIT WE GOT STARTCRAFT AT GDQ?!
If you're playing SC2 at GDQ might I suggest playing this map as an intro? RTS speedruns don't get much interest because the gameplay is too specialized for people to really know what's going on. This challenge map communicates quite a lot in a short period of time.
I mean, he's on the pending list for HotS Normal, so he's got some great points to talk about how it works, and showcase a lot of interesting things they did with HotS that they didn't really do with WoL (like boss fights)
So entertaining!
You know what else would be really nice to see? A no death challenge run for the Psyonic Assault challenge mission.

anyone know the name of that one arcade game where it was essentially multiplayer slenderman but in starcraft so it was the scary adjutant instead of suited figure. I'm merely asking cause I remember it was like the only game that used first person in a top-down game

Do you remember the Blizzard made rush defense maps? I loved doing those again and again but last I checked years ago they don't have them anymore. Are they hidden away like this one and still playable?
Yeah for some reason a while back the OG WoL challenges got moved. They're under Campaign (Official tab under Campaign) -> Wings of Liberty -> Challenges
