What!? No footpath!? Glenvale Park a Wellingborough housing development

  • Glenvale Park housing development will see 3000 extra homes built and is one of three huge development sites here in Wellingborough.
    I'm attempting to leave the development site by foot from the corner closest to the A509 and Ock 'N' Dough shops. It's a green space destroyed and then re-constructed with pathways laid all around but not leading to anywhere useful. There is a very important bus route which has a bus stop very close to where I'm trying to get to. The bus route (X4) is direct into Wellingborough town centre or even Kettering, with further stops such as Northampton, Corby and Peterborough.
    There is no footpath leading to this said bus stop nor a pathway to reach the Ock 'n' Dough amenities area. The only way to access them safely is to walk the long way around via Gleneagles estate & Redwell Leisure centre. A trodden path has been created by the residents of Glenvale Park which I could handle with ease but it is most certainly not suitable for pushchairs, wheelchairs etc etc. There is a huge amount of fly-tipped material by the bus stop which could be prevented by a sufficient footpath at that specific place (Just an idea😜). I believe it's quite important to the residents of Glenvale Park that a footpath is created so therefore I make this video. P.S The Embankment roadside footpath has been cleaned and widened. Still lots to complain about but it's a start. Thanks goes to you legends for sending in your footpath reports 😊.

    I live on the Gleneagles estate across from this development, and use the junction out onto Niort Way all the time when I'm off out in the car - and only the other day I was talking to my son about the lack of footpath access. I actually think they need either a footbridge or subway to be completely safe, because Niort Way is NOT a road I would ever want to have to cross on foot. To get off of the Glenvale Park area on either side you actually have to take your life in your hands and cross an extremely busy road, whichever way you choose to go.
    And as for the government wanting us to use public transport more than using our own vehicles, all I have to say is "what public transport???" They stopped the buses going round Park Farm, Barnwell Way, KIlborne , Hardwick Road and Gleneagles already. If you want to get a bus from our end of town you have to walk all the way to Queensway to catch one. All the old bus stops are still in place - and all of them say out of service.

    Just came across this video, so i am very glad that I'm not the only one who thinks it's odd that there's no way to get to the nearest bus stops by foot. You mention it'll definitely not be rasy for those with disability - you're right! I'm moving into a Grenvale flat by the end of the month and I'll be using a wheelchair. If i need to go to any appointments or you know, have a life outside of my flat, I'll either have go the long and cut through Redwell, or rely only on taxis. How can the council make accessible housing but not accessible pathways. Residents are isolated if they don't have a car

    Hi purple 😊forgot to say,mary and i have moved to a new build near the priory and we've got bus stops(no bus has ever been up here)we got no shops either.most of the rented properties rely on taxis to get into town.we also have loads of food deliveries to this area.

      Yh I know the "McDonald's estate 😂" well. It's like developers thought McDonald's and pub grub will do for the residents. As for the bus service 😂😂 That's craziness.

    Hi, we raised this with the council reps when they talked about moving the school: that we live in Redhill grange but would have to , ridiculously, drive to the school. There's no access to the bus stop from their side and crossing to the bus stop from the other is risky with kids. It's mad that we drive to the park.

    • @PurpleVision23
      @PurpleVision23  5 месяцев назад +1

      I didn't know they were trying to move Redwell school. It's absolute madness. Footpath should have been on the agenda a long time ago

      No, sorry for the fake news: the little harrowden/wilby schools. My issue was we be able to see the school but not walk to it safely!

    I have reported the flytipped rubbish in the ditch by the Redhill Grange bus stop on the A509 twice. Nothing has been down about it and more keeps being added. Glenvale Park definitely needs a foot path to the bus stop and to the shops

      Hmmm. Who owns that bit of land, that's the question. It might be highways but then again it may be Glenvale Park.

    It’s so crazy the developers can what they want, however when it comes to helping the public they just can’t be bothered. Just wondered if there maybe a plan where it may show if paths are there.

    I have an issue with Wellingborough council last year they put over 40 locked gates on Queensway estate blocking all the public footpaths shortcuts from one street to another. Forcing everyone who walks to have to take long detours to get anywhere.

    • @PurpleVision23
      @PurpleVision23  5 месяцев назад

      That's down to our failing police force. Block off the alley so they can catch motorbike idiots speeding through the estate. I get what you're saying though

    I have moved to Hanwood park Barton seagrave and we don’t have a shop near us so everyone drives! In the warmer months people might walk as it’s a 20min walk one way! But it’s cold wet a lot more than it is dry and warm so all these emissions….
    Also like Wellingborough all of these new big estates but no GP surgery’s planned! And the ones in the area are bursting at the seams.
    These new estates need a lot better consideration for the local infrastructure before being signed off, but the greedy councillors don’t care and are waiting with their hands out.

      Traveling whilst working in removals I have quite a few new build estates. One in Peterborough has a new doctor's and another new build site in Lincoln had one but that's it. We need a new hospital.

    • @michaelcoles6140
      @michaelcoles6140 5 месяцев назад

      @@PurpleVision23 back in 2004-2005 there was plans for a new hospital to be built by 2016 on the land on the A45 between irchester and Wellingborough next to the woods! But that got scrapped because of coast 🤦‍♂️
      It’s great that some new Doctor surgery’s are built, however Northamptonshire is seriously lacking on the medical front, and I don’t see any changes happening for a long time.

      The 3 roads are suicide walks, not everyone is that nimble or lucky enough to escape death. Wellingborough and NNC need to find viable walkways for the area as this doesn’t seem to of been thoroughly thought of.
