A New Orleans legend! When you hear this song you think about the city back in the day! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Thanks for this guys! You guys are the true shizzle! 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Aaron’s voice was so unique! My fav was ,” The Grand Tour”, but this song and 4 or 5 Marvelous Masterpieces! The collaboration with Ronstadt was a perfect vocal match!
"I was not crying". I just got something in both of my eyes at the same time. I will never forget in 1967 the first time I heard this. The song was written by two members of his band at the time. Although now retired Aaron is still alive and well at the ripe young age of 80. And like the other commenters here I also say watch the very moving live version of his duet with Linda Ronstadt "Don't Know Much". Yes, the music of yesterday kills the junk of today.
Aaron Neville is one of the most versatile and talented musicians in existence and it's unfortunate that more people aren't familiar with his work. He's brilliant
Aaron Neville and his brothers are amazing , I saw Aaron live in concert at a place called Rams Head he was amazing ,and sang for almost 3 hours , love this man . Great reaction ,good vibes and much love ❤️
Love Aaron Neville voice & also The Neville Bros. I played the 45 "Tell It Like It Is" constantly in 1966 because I had some decisions to make about this guy who kept wanting to get closer to me & I wasn't ready. The song was like he & not Aaron was speaking to me. This song ended up helping me to change the course of my life. I moved to CA, he followed & we said "I Do" a year & a half later. We were together until he died in 2010.
Shawn, you look gob smacked , this is a classic by the one and only Arron Neville. I think this is the song that really got to you. Amazing to watch your reaction.....Priceless !!!!
Yes Ma'am! This song put him on the map along with his brothers. Aaron Neville's voice is one of a kind. BTW just found your channel and I AM LOVING IT!!!
I actually watched some reactors who didn’t like Aaron because they thought he was a “ sissy” for sounding like he’s crying. I’ll just say this: the little girls know what the little boys don’t understand! We love you Aaron!
Ahhh one of my favorite voices to listen to! Be sure to follow up with more from him. Maybe also check out some music from he and his bros. as well. The Neville Brothers
Shawn, that reaction was priceless! Jaw dropping from the first note, and one of my all-time favorite ballads from the sixties. This is a grand slam of a performance by Mr. Neville!
I love Aaron's voice so much (last name rhymes with level). Pls do at least 1 live performance by him. Seeing him sing is a joy 🎶🎵 check out something by the Neville brothers also.
My mom and I were just listening to Aaron Neville last night and freaked when he sang "Pledging My Love." Just freaking beautiful! His son Ivan is also a great artist as well as his brothers. Just an amazingly talented family! You NEED to check him out further because, my God, that voice hits parts of your soul that you never knew existed. "Crazy Love" just makes me want to scream in absolute ecstasy. That voice is a treasure!
Classic. I have never heard another singer with such a unique, melodic sound. Also, sanged in the band with his brothers ...The Neville Brothers. Emphasis on the first syllable...Aaron Ne-vuhl. Great reaction 👏👏👍👍
No one compares to Aaron Neville 💖 He always gave a message ☮️🥰🎶. Check out a live version of This song recorded live at ‘ Daryl (Hall’s) House ‘in Hawaii. I have always wanted to go to New Orleans to hear Aaron Neville & The Neville Brothers sing live, also to catch CCR do a concert - still haven’t made it to New Orleans 😢🥰🎶
I’ve watched a lot of your videos and the one thing that finally got me to subscribe was Shawn’s raw emotions. Keep doing what you’re doing love watching you 👍💞
Aaron is one of those singers that is soon as the first bar comes out, there's not a dry pair of panties in the house. If you hang around for the rest of the song, your sneakers. Just squishing on the ground
Nice! Really nice! The golden voice from the golden age of soulful male singers. 1966. George Davis and Lee Diamond wrote the song. Aaron Neville kept it real. He formed a performing group with his brothers in the seventies and Mardi Gras was never the same. Fire! The Neville Brothers "Brother John / Iko Iko" (1981) makes me hungry for gumbo, big time. But for more gold like "Tell It Like It Is" from the sixties, check out some of these: Maurice Williams "Stay" (1960), Ben E. King "Stand by Me" (1961), The Drifters "Some Kind of Wonderful" (1962), The Impressions "It's All Right" (1963), The Righteous Brothers "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" (1964), Smokey Robinson "Ooo Baby Baby" (1965), The Temptations "My Girl" (1965), Marvin Gaye "How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)" (1966), Otis Redding "Try A Little Tenderness" (1966), Percy Sledge "When A Man Loves A Woman" (1966), Billy Stewart "Sitting In The Park" (1966), Brenton Wood "I Like The Way You Love Me" (1966), Jackie Wilson "(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher" (1967), The Four Tops "Bernadette" (1967), Clarence Carter "Slip Away" (1967) ...
I remember when this song came out. Such a love song and all girls wished for a man like this! Heart touching and heart breaking. No play, teal love !😍
The Neville Brothers, New Orleans, LA I love! Aaron I love love! Saw him in concert before he passed away. I love his Grand Tour album. My 2 favorites are These Foolish Things and a song Bob Dylan wrote, Don’t Fall apart on me tonight. This Cajun Girl thinks you would love them!
One of the best of '67. My mom wore this out, with scratches and all. Now i have it on CD with crystal clear sound. Check out his brother Ivan Neville with " Falling Out Of Love". Totally different sound from this, but i think you will like it. It was the opening song in the John Ritter comedy film Skin Deep, loved that movie, John was so funny.
This my all time favorite souks singer, great choice! He has some amazing X-mas classics under his belt. He is called the voice of an angel! Saw him last 2 years ago for the second time, the guy gets better with age and the vocals; believe he is now 80 plus. Woww you are crying???! I grew up on this, always love him, yes Aaron, Aaron, Aaron!! He is from a musical family, so missing seeing him in concert!! Try the next one “Everybody plays the fool”.
Love this song!!! You guys need to listen to Fats Domino- Blueberry hill, I hear you knocking, walking to New Orleans, Blue Monday, ain't that a shame. There's a few oldies but goodies!
I agree with you completely Aaron Neville is one of the best! The whole family tradition is worth checking into, which I am sure you already have by now and are being led there by other comments. So enjoy!!!
Mel...I took this off the internet...Tell It Like It Is" is a song written by George Davis and Lee Diamond and originally recorded and released in 1966 by Aaron Neville. I agree with the squad...his duet with Linda Ronstadt, "I Don't Know Much" is amazing.
The Neville brothers are legendary. Aaron and Linda Ronstadt are definitely worth a listen. Enjoyed seeing your "eyes water". Love you two, too much. You have got to react to the Righteous Bros. You've lost that loving Feeling and Soul Inspiration are my suggestions for them. Of you like vocals, don't wait, or hesitate Righteous Bros.,right away. Peace.
Thanks so much for reacting to Aaron - especially this. It was a big hit a long time ago, and a lot of people seem to have forgotten about it. He's great, all his more recent stuff with his brothers, and other duets - but this one is so good I hate to see it forgotten. And if no one told you his name is Neville, rhymes with devil.
If you want hot chemistry, watch Aaron and Linda Ronstadt singing Don’t Know Much live! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
