This is my favorite song from the iconic Boy album. I’m glad that you guys are finally getting the recognition that you guys need! And look at all these music videos! So proud! I really take this song (and pretty much the whole Boy album) to heart, as it was released a couple of weeks after my dad went missing. He and I had an estranged relationship; and we fought the day before he went missing. I had just graduated from high school and was on my way to my first year to college and the whole thing with my dad really messed me up. I guess part of it was because I was growing up and becoming my own person and there was a lot of things my dad and I didn’t agree on. I wasn’t a rebellious child until my senior year of high school and I did a lot of things to spite him under the mentality of, “Screw you, dad! I’m going to do this for myself!” But after he went missing, I started to realize how much he impacted me and my life; and I think that a part of me wanted to apologize and forgive him after I graduated college- when I had become more mature essentially. So when the Boy album came out last year, this song in particularly, I was immediately attached. There was no English translations at the time, but I knew that this song was special. I couldn’t stop thinking about my relationship with my dad and how I wished that I could go back in time to tell him how much I actually loved him and how big of a person he was in my life; instead of fighting with him the day before he went missing. A couple of months later, we eventually found his body; he committed suicide. It didn’t really hit me until his funeral that he and I would never get some sort of closure between us, and I was going to have to live with the fact that we couldn’t mend our relationship together. So whenever I listen to this song, I always think about my dad and I. But this song really got me through the year; I was able to come to terms of my own feelings about myself and my dad while listening to this. So thanks for everything, Offonoff. The both of you are truly the best. Can’t wait to hear some new music from the both of you! 💖💖💕💕
