Maybe do a submission Q and A rather than a live stream. I am always busy so I tend to miss them. Congratulations on publishing. I am just looking forward to seeing more motorcycle adventures to awesome places.
Appreciate all of your interests and conversations John! I have recieved multiple hours of enjoyment watching and riding along with you. Your enthusiasm for life and your surroundings is breathtaking. Some of us cant leave the easy chair anymore so each post takes some of us on an unexpected journey. Thank you for recognizing Ronin. His contributions were essential. You let us into your life, your garage, your living room, your book. 1. Trailering the bike...bike's. Any info on how to move the motorcycles from A to B without riding. I used to put 3 dirt bikes in the back of the pickup. One does not easily push a Himalayan into the bed of the pickup! Ron from "Southwest Colorado adv." Had a little bit on a trailer but not enough info to decipher if trailering is even an option. 2. OHV passes...We need a pass to ride in Utah, or Arizona.??? We didnt have this in Connecticut. Stay Safe and Healty! Congrats on the book again!
Thanks Edward! I appreciate the kind words. You bring up two good topics. I've spoken briefly about trailering, and what I generally do, but it is a complicated topic. I usually ride alone so if I have to trailer, it ends up being an ordeal. My usual go-to is to rend a $20 motorcycle trailer from U-haul (although I have looked at maybe buying a small moto trailer). Uhaul is great though because I can tow it with my subaru, and it's only $20 a day. Many uhaul places will tell you that you can only rent trailers for up to 24 or 48 hours, but I've found if you just ask them, they'll let you take it longer. They are also low enough that they are easy to ride up on. Buying a small moto trailer would cost me well over $1000, so I justify the 2-3 times a year that I rent from uhaul as a coming down to cost savings really. Next time I rent a uhaul, I'll definitely make a video about it! As far as the OHV pass. It's weird. I've been told that if I want to ride on any "OHV" designated trails, that I'm supposed to pay the $10 for a yearly OHV sticker for my license plate. BUT...most roads allow cars, so you don't need the pass. On the OHV trails and single track that I do ride, I can't imagine ever running into someone actually ever checking this. With that said, I still pay the $10 to add the sticker on my plate. No biggy. I'm not sure how it works for out-of-state plates though. Something worth looking up on the AZMVD website for sure.
In general I liked the stories that were longer, with more lead up and details. I also enjoyed those that included geography and geology lessons. A few of my favorites: Tiny Island, The Arctic Circle, and all the stories about Antarctica. I think my favorite short piece was 3X5 because of the aviation aspect.@@On2Feet
Keep putting out the great content. Congrats! Sad you sold the Trail. But now I have the green 2023 Trail. Also bought a 2023 MT-03 since. Thanks for sharing your adventures!
Yeah...there are definitely days I miss the Trail...but I'm at peace with my decision. The one thing I've noticed is the more I accessorize my CRF300, the more it is evolving in to a lightweight adventure bike...which is putting my himalayan in a bit of an awkward spot. The biggest upside right now to the Himmi is that it has much greater fuel range and handles better on the highways and in high winds. Otherwise, the CRF really is becoming my all-purpose bike for adventuring.
You’ve been an inspirational person to me since the Barkley doc. I was recently recommended your channel by RUclips and though not into motorcycles I’ve enjoyed the content…your personal matter-of fact-presentation is enjoyable to watch, and I appreciate the ride along on your adventures. Keep on!
Amazon is probably the easiest...although it doesn't really matter. I only make 30 cents per book (1% of sale) and I'm donating any meager proceeds to charity. The final production book is still in review but should be live within 72 hours apparently.
Thanks so much! It looks like it will take up to 72 hours to be "reviewed for final publication," but I don't suspect any issues and it should be live by the weekend! Exciting!
Hi John! Congrats as well on your book. Holy smokes! A couple vid content suggestions (or hoping for your thoughts). 1. I saw the vid your CRF mods vid, but are you considering a larger fuel tank? I watched an install vid of the Acerbis 3.6 gallon on a CRF300L but wondering if it’ll fit on your LS (height difs and recalling the possible rake difs you had with fender clearances). 2. I’m looking to purchase my first bike. Space is a premium in my two car garage. Maybe a vid on minimum associated equipment needed / what you have/ storage hacks? Funny…I first saw you in the Barkley / The Race That Eats It’s Young movie. Then stumbled upon you here by your new choice of bike. I noticed you in the movie as a PCT thru-hiker (same here /Class of ‘82 and current Section Hiker with 200 miles short of a second completion). Keep up the great content!
Ha ha...yeah, it has the effect. I only bring out this bottle on a couple times a year, and it's always such a treat. FYI: It's the Uigeadail blend (pricy...but so worth it).
I'm just watching Lavi and Ollie' channel and they're in Flagstaff at a huge rally, I saw a red Honda Trail 125 parked up, they mentioned it, were you there, did you get to meet them??? That would be a meeting of celebrities, right? ;)
The overland expo in Flagstaff happened back in May and I did swing over on my Trail 125...so I suppose that could have been mine. I didn't really spend much time there though. I went in 2022 and it was almost entirely gigantic million dollar overland vehicles and very dishonest salespeople trying to sell them to people that can't afford them. There wasn't much relevant to motorcycles, so it kind of turned me off. It would have been cool to meet these guys though. I didn't know about them...but it looks like they are on quite the adventure!
@@On2Feet yeah, I'd love to see your channel get more exposure, that's all. But they did say it was basically full of enormous overlanders... I heard Flagstaff and thought of you and your channel. Onherbike was there this year but I totally get how you'd be turned off from a large corporate pitch...
Hi. I need your help. You have handguards on your Honda CRF 300 LS. I just bought that bike. I bought Barkbuster handguards from Rocky Mountain ATV. They are listed as fitting this bike. The metal mounts seem that they would only fit a skinnier bar and the metal bar seems that it’s about 2” too short. I’m getting no help from the dealer I bought it from, Rocky Mountain ATV or Honda Motorsport. Which handguards did you put on your bike? Thank you.
It's funny, I had this same problem and talked about it briefly in my accessories video. I thought I'd use the barkbusters as well, but didn't like how there were supposed to mount on the bars (and it looked like they wouldn't' even fit). I went with the Zeta XC kit here: www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/zeta-armor-handguard-xc-kit I upgraded to the bigger Pro shields. (Make sure to select 7/8" bar with stanard clamps"). They mount on the lower part of the bar, freeing up my upper bar for my quad lock and gopro mounts. Incidentally, I ended up using the M6 bolts from the barkbuster kit, to mount my Zetas on the bar though (but you can also just buy some M6 bolts at the hardware store) too. I should probably tap the bar end weights to take an M8 bolt, but I'm eventually going to replace the bars entirely...so am not worried about it for now. I actually still have that barkbuster kit and should probably sell it too!
It was a big and eventful year for you - congratulations! Very nice shout out to Ol' Man Ronin!
Thank you. You’re the only person helping with this. You’re awesome.

A livestream would be really cool, I'd probably show up!
Thanks man...I'm considering it for sure...even if it is only 3 people. I'd just love a place to chat about our various respective adventures.
