Southeast Asia has a TON of desserts based around coconut. Same with Sri Lanka. Would highly suggest visiting those for your coconut milk dessert fixes
Paused the video to scroll down and comment the same thing lol I can understand limiting that statement to East Asia but Southeast Asia is FILLED with countless varieties of coconut desserts. Hell, South Asia has amazing varieties as well. When she said that, I was like "Holup-"
Yeah exactly. Cause coconut is a tropical fruit and it perfectly suits the climate for so many Asian countries - especially those in the south and southeast region. Just because it’s not as common in Korea doesn’t mean it’s the same elsewhere in Asia lol
@@jilhabermacher True, when she said Asia I thought I was the dumb one questioning it, living in Asia and having coconut trees around my house lol I was so confused.
As someone with old ears I really appreciate you narrating clear and putting the CC on the screen. ❤ so many folks forget that we all don't hear well and end up watching videos and not knowing what was said half the time cuz CC wasn't working and they didn't add it to the video. ❤ I love watching you travel and have fun. I feel like a proud Mom. 😂 you are doing what you love and making your dreams come true.
Exactly like a lot of East Asians forget that Asia doesn’t end with them😂 no hate to Tina for forgetting that.. it’s just funny that people think Asia ends with China, Japan and Koreas
I’m pretty sure you get a LOT of coconut desserts in Asia. I’m Indian (south asian) and I can probably think of a whole bunch just off the top of my head. I bet southeast asia has so many desserts with coconut & coconut flavors because it’s a tropical fruit and it would suit the climates of those countries.
Exactly my favourite two dishes as an Indian Bengali (East Indian) are Narkel Nadu (coconut balls) and Patishapta with coconut filling😅 Asians just love that coconut near the tropics.
I'm drooling so much . Loved it! Fun fact about coconut and coconut desserts:- Its actually a delicacy in all over the Asia. Asia is number one in coconut production. Every country has a special heart for coconut and coconut desserts. Like India , we have the ' coconut barfi' Its so coconutty made in coconut oil or ghee , sugar, cardamom. So nice.
Morning glory is called kangkung in Malay language. Very common throughout SEA. In Malaysia and Singapore we have it Chinese style with garlic and msg with a clear gravy similar to what you have. But a popular style is with sambal belacan, which is sambal with fermented shrimp paste. Absolutely wonderful!
We have morning glory in Sri Lanka too. Its called Kangkung as well. Our way of eating it is as stir fry with loads of garlic and chillies. Sometimes we mix in small shrimp or beef.
I was curious what it is. Turns out I have been eating it my whole life here in India (West Bengal). It’s called Ka(o)lmi shaak.😅 same Garlic and leaves stir fried and eaten in the first course with rice.
That coconut milk dessert you had contains 芋圓 which is taro (purple) and sweet potato (orange) mixed with sweet potato/potato starch, denser than mochi. It's a Taiwanese dish and I'm so glad you got to try it!
Traditional Chinese Mahua is generally made as hard and crunchy texture like you're eating doritos kind of crunch, and they usually sprinkle with sugar on top right after it comes out from deep fried. It's not really supposed to be a soft bread like western world.
COME TO TAIWAN GIRL!!!! and if you go, definitely don’t limit your visit to Taipei cuz all the locals know the best food is outside of Taipei like in Taichung and Tainan 😆
The more I watch your vlogs, the more I can’t wait to watch the next one! You’ve become one of the top tier in my book Tina! Thank you for sharing good honest content. Have a wonderful week Tina & Kevin!
Makes me so happy to see you enjoy Chinese food and calling by their actual Chinese names! Though the first restuarant is a Shanxi(a province in china) noodle place, it seems to have a generic mix of food from all parts of China(Xiaolongbao from shanghai, Guobaorou from the north eastern region.), which is nothing wrong and usually the case for restuarants outside china, but it might result in not the most authentic experience. so really looking forward to see you on a actual food tour someday around Asia❤
If you love coconut dessert, you should definitely go to Malaysia. Almost all of our desserts revolve around coconut milk/shreds Example : cendol, kuih koci, onde onde, pulut durian (durian with sticky rice), sago gula melaka and various types of bubur (bubur cha cha, bubur pulut hitam, puteri mandi) + this isn't a dessert but 'coconut shake' is to die for Also, those skewers remind me of malaysian 'sate' and im also sure that you will love it and their peanut sauce
We Indians literally make the simplest dessert out of Coconut called Nariyal ke Laddu. Its a sweet ball made of dessicated coconut and sugar. And there are thousand other coconut dessert recipes we South Asians consume.
Love that you’re shining a light on all the legit Chinese foods. One tip, girl you’re eating the skewers and tanghulu wrong. No need to push things down with the chopsticks - just eat the skewer from the side, all if you’re biting an accordion :) saves you from poking your mouth.
There’s actually a lot of desserts made in SE Asia especially Thailand and Vietnam. Should try sometime!!! Hehe I’d really love you to come to Thailand and try our food. Idk whether it’s a popular or not opinion, but the food in Bkk isn’t authentic enough 😅😅
Feel so happy and honored when you mentioned that you love one of the food from Cambodia (after that Uncle Roger’s comment about Cambodian cuisine). Hope you can come and try more foods here, there’re sooo many good food in our country 🙏🏻🥰

Wdym not much coconut based desserts in asia? If youre talking about east then yes but 90% of south east asian desserts has some form of coconut in its ingredients.

If you love coconut dessert. I highly recommend Benignit/ or BiloBilo a popular Philippine dessert ❤🥰🥥🍮🍡 it really looks like the soupy one your eating in your vid.
Love it! ❤️I really appreciate the fact of how do you describe the food and the experience as well. Im a Filipino and I wonder how would you describe a Filipino food, I do know for sure you will love it because most of our dishes are related to any Asian food but with a different culture and beliefs. Hope you will go someday for a vacation in the Philippines 🇵🇭 I bet you will enjoy it! Loving watching you dooby🫶🏽
Anneyong! really love watching all ur korean vlogs! Would love to travel to Korea one day. May i request you to also create a 24hr vlog on Halal foodies hehe, which is highly recommend from your point of view. Much love xx
You've got to try ChongQing/Sichuan hot pot...it's very different and most people don't seem to know about it. It's numbing and spicy plus the sauce is only one style: oil, garlic, salt, msg and spring onion
I like your scientific references, I almost expected that you would talk about the cell wall made of cellulose when you talk about the crunchiness of morning glory. :D
Cool, you & Yeijin went to an arcade centre. Doobydobap & friend like playing video games, playing the claw game & singing on the karaoke machine....👀😳👌😁
South East Asia uses a lot of coconut oil in our dessert and dishes, we used it more than China, Japan and Korea. We have coconut trees here than there
the xiao long bao shouldn't have exploded haha the soup is supposed to still be inside. Durian is the best. love your content keep it coming! Come visit Toronto one day and Hong Kong
I love your videos - you are amazingly talented. One word you often use when describing food is ‚glutinous‘ - for example ‚glutinous rice‘ but you pronounce it like: ‚Glutton‘ (which is a person who eats a lot). The difference in pronunciation in UK English is like ‚oouuuuuh’ (long) vs ‚uh‘ (short) - but I am never quite sure if maybe you are making a doobydobap play on words. Anyway, was interested.
Loved the vid and def want to go, but I can’t get over some of the inconsistencies with the subtitles. Ofc I may have understood, but like 2:56 your talking about butter oozing out of the apple strudel but the subs say water. 3:40 you say craggily texture, but it says ugly. 16:46 you say pungentness but it said punchiness etc. just something to watch out for since describing flavors and food for those who may not have tried it

It is called fu yu tong choi in cantonese.
Kangkung is not really a melayu word.
Kangkong in PH as well!! Tastes amazing when cooked adobo style

I love the fact that you added subtitles. A big advantage for the times when you watch without volume or in 2x ❤
The details on how Tina is explaining the food is unbelievable. Damn! Her love for food was really exceptional. ❤
Your food science background shows through in your food descriptions. It's delightful to hear and a wonderful learning experience for me.
