It's a blast to drive with the 2.5t. The engine and turbo tuning is very entertaining. I bought a 2024 limited. Don't hate it for what it isn't. Instead love it for what it is. Its a sport truck.
Ridgelines are excellent trucks. A cousin of mine has one & I love it. Super comfy & feels like a truck with all the benefits of a unibody. Mavericks are instantly ruled out because it’s a Ford. I will never buy a Ford GM or Chrysler product ever again. Unless it’s a special car I’ll only buy a Honda or Toyota.
My brother has a 2022. Hyundai just bought it back due to catastrophic engine failure and transmission failure. They bought it back for $22,000. Enough said! Enjoy guys
@@Almighty_cornholio yea. Took about 8 months for the buy back. A lot of back and forth. Luckily our uncle is a real estate attorney and helped him out
@@charlesjackson1700 it’s such a hit or miss. There’s many people that have no issues but that’s because they’re NON TURBO and never floored! Basically you have to drive like a 80 yr old or like an Asian.
I remember the first gen Santa Cruz, I was amazed and appalled all at once. Sucks that it never really sold and I'll guarantee this gen won't sell well either. It deserves more appreciation and respect.
I'm surprised by the lack of amenities for the price. It has been 10 years (wow) since my wife bought a Hyundai, but we were impressed with the features included. Much more loaded than anything in its class and at a similar price. I learned now that isn't a Hyundai "thing" anymore.
I still dig the Santa Cruz. But I'm 100% on board with you to zonk the full touch screen/center console area. So repulsed by most cars nowadays having everything touch screen. I think it should be illegal. Heard Europe even had a mandate to get knobs & buttons back on cars thank God cause people were getting into so many accidents. Touch screen stuff should be for when you''re safely off the road, not driving! Some touch stuff is fine but don't go overboard. Anyway... I've seen the designs of the 2025, glad Hyundai listened to its customers. Def looking forward to sitting in that next one.
That color is not my cup of tea . Why would you need side steps for low car? I don’t get that . Ok it’s not truck it’s suv cross over with hatch cut off . Hitting your calves would either be hurt because it’s too hot or scratch you if you’re in a rush .
Overall, rear HVAC, USB ports and rear heated seats should be standard on cars. They're so expensive right now, that at these prices, you would expect things like that or at least 2 out of the 3 I listed. Especially that Kia Forte's and Civics have heated seats and USB ports. Edit: Ultimate version in Canada has rear HVAC and USB ports
The lag on takeoff and piano black on the center controls zonk this for me. I still want to test drive a 2025 to see for myself on the improvements. Thanks for your honest opinion in this helpful review.
Had a 2023 sel premium AWD..... Liked it except for the under powered engine, so, unfortunately, my husband had a accident and it got totalled by our insurance company... A few months later, I got a brand new 2024 Limited AWD model and LOVE IT!!!!....has so much more in it and I love the turbo engine!!!!---but, I bit extra pricey for the limited trim!...overall, its pretty awesome!!!!
My favorite car I have ever owned was a 74 El Camino SS. I loved driving that car. I was a poolman... oh the memories. I saw the Santa Cruz for the first time the other day and I couldn't help but to think this was today's answer to the El Camino. An AWD car truck with all the goodies today's tech can throw into it. It's disappointing to see they neglected some details on the inside and added some oddities that take away from it's potential. The step rail and lack of charging ports and AC controls in the rear, at that price point are a bummer. I wonder if they will pull out all the stops for the 2025 edition.
Man, the way the front turn signals are arrows pointing in the opposite direction of which way you are turning bothers me. Otherwise I think it is a cool little vehicle.
The design and color combination of this car goes well with surfboards. There was a time when even luxury cars did not have AC vents in the backseat, but in this day and age, I think that cars that do not have AC vents and USB connectivity in the backseat should at least have storage space that can be opened and closed.
Have to agree with you.... too many 'niggles' for the money. One thing you didn't get into much is the driver's compartment room. Being on the 'portly' side, how is the interior room? And to use that additional trunk space under the bed (stolen idea from the Ridgeline) it would be very hard as the tailgate only opens one way. The Ridgeline opens two ways, making the use of that underbed trunk easy to get to. That alone would be a deal breaker for me. Overall, nice review.

I think it’s more like an XRT-Line like when Honda made the Trail Sport. They made the look first and if people like it they’ll make it an actual off roader for next year.
I’ve seen more Santa Cruz on the road than Mavericks. Not sure if that was because Ford was having difficulties building in them in the beginning or the Santa Cruz is just a better all around vehicle. 🤷🏽♂️
Ford has sold over 90,000 Mavericks in just the first 6 months this year alone vs only 18,000 Santa Cruz in the same time period. They are on track to sell a total of around 170-180 just in 2024. Maverick is now the 3rd best selling vehicle Ford sells. First is the F series trucks then the Explorer then Maverick. The Santa Cruz has been a sales failure for Hyundai.
Hi Joe! I’m looking into the new 2025 Audi A5/S5, do you when when we’ll possibly get a review on it? I need your input before pulling the trigger. Appreciate everything you do. Thanks
It's great if you like dysfunctional running boards, and I noticed they put them on both sides of the vehicle. 😊 It amazes me that they're able to sell this vehicle.
If you want or need a pickup then lease or buy a Real one! They are the epitomy of a city boy pickup.
The only manufacturer who made turbo practical was Saab. Otherwise, turbos are incredibly problematic for a daily driver. I really like how Hyundai is stepping-up their game, but they need to replace their GDi engines with another design not so maintenance-prone.
It’s honestly not a bad little truck. I kinda like it. I wouldn’t buy it but if I saw someone driving this, I’d be like “wow”.

Mitsubishi makes a great vehicle also cheap..rated higher than Toyota late 2 yrs
I can see lifeguards driving these.
i see that! And maybe Subaru as well
Sta cruz boardwalk ca use this go figure
It looks better than the 2022 year but still funky looking.
I like the way it looks, but then i also owned an avalanche so I'm probably a bad judge 😀
I wish this had an manual transmission option, would really give them the edge over the others in the segment.
I’d go with a Ridgeline if I was deciding between the two.

Interesting refresh design language. Hyundai/Kia while trying to be modern never age well. Expensive for what you get.
