I always thought that Flash Thompson felt guilty for how he treated Parker growing up,
along with spiderman being his hero, it aloud venom to understand how to forgive spiderman and how to cooperate with his new host.
But I'm sure with any contact with Brock triggerd the evil Venom to emerge. With flash being the new Anti-Venom because of his mutated white blood cells.

I love Flash Thompson/agent venom in comic and cartoon. Flash Thompson used to bully peter, when he meet spiderman, he inspired to become a hero like him.
Everything he try to become a hero, he almost give up of trying to be a hero like spiderman.
But when the symbiote bond with Flash Thompson became venom and later name agent venom in shield . And join spiderman team the Web warriors.
Hopefully in Marvel's spider-man series, we see Flash Thompson and Andi Benton become venom and mania.
And in Marvel spider-man Ps5 game Flash Thompson will appear.

This is sort of the same problem I have with the Ultimate Spider-Man version of the Lizard. They have this cool thing of Connors working for SHIELD and helping Spidey out with gadgets, and then have him lose his arm when the Green Goblin attacks the Helicarrier. Connors then uses his science to create the Lizard formula and even has control over it for awhile before eventual Spider-Man has to make the cure.
Instead of going with a more interesting version of Connors maybe learning to control his Lizard half or even being stuck in that form (similar to the current Spider-Man comic run), they only bring Lizard back to be a generic monster for the Sinister Six. Connors is literally forced into the role every time, and by the end of the show Doc Ock literally just takes the Lizard serum and uses it on someone else.
Ultimate Spider-Man had many good ideas in it, but the felt kind of wasted of a more comedic version of Spider-Man

While obviously comic av is a much better character because he struggles with who he used to be and what's happened to him, theres still potential for a character with alot less baggage but still having the same dream

I love Ultimate Spider-man and that version of Agent Venom is the first version I knew about. Besides Peter being Spider-man wasn't the only reason he chose to be a hero. He constantly tried helping Spider-man throughout the series because he wanted to help people as he did. He also had nothing as shown in the Rhino debut episode and at least this gave him something in his life.
All im trying to say is that I don't think that they tried to shortcut their way to Agent Venom since he was a teen and not a veteran like comic Flash.
Ps. Agent Venom might be my favorite comic storyline from Marvel

Personally I am just glade I get to see agent venom in a cartoon.
But as for Flash Thompson not earning his place as agent venom in the cartoon...that is utterly false.
Flash Thompson within the past three seasons of the show has shown character development. from being a bully to peter parker and coward who wouldn't hasn't to abandon him. To being his friend. to realizing his bullying was wrong when it turn one of his victims into the villain rhino and then wanting to be hero because he felt he had nothing to loss due to his poor home life and neglectful parents.
All of which was establish before he became agent venom.

Maybe it could’ve been a case where Flash volunteered for SHIELD, as a stand in for the army, gotten into some battles between a venomized villain and Spiderman and instead of getting in the way, he fights and gets gravely injured in the fight but managed to get spidey the time he needs to win. Then, a bit of venom gets onto the injured flash and the events basically play like in the episode but now there’s this weight of Flash fighting without power and helping to save Spiderman.

The sad part is that, that cartoon of Spider-man. The new cartoon has Peter sidelined because "this person" knows what to do, but are never there for big fights, or coordinate patrols, and communications. I don't mind if they switched perspectives amongst the spider people. But if a fight goes on for more the 10min then there should be spider backup.

Agent Venom in the comics is a soldier and also handicapped having lost both his legs. He struggles with his loss and also his alcoholism while trying to find purpose when he's bonded to the symbiote. The symbiote acted like a crutch of some sort, not only giving him legs and the ability to walk but also a sense of purpose. The one in the cartoons looks like Agent Venom but acts more like Football Jock thats hasnt grown out from this phase.

Playing devil’s advocate, it could be argued that the cartoon version is a more natural way to turn the bully flash Thompson into a superhero. I love flash in the comics (though I understand why they didn’t adapt it directly) but I feel like they only turned him into a war hero and troubled alcoholic because he was underdeveloped in those early stories. They could have taken his character in any direction and the character they made could have been anyone.

    Ok
No. Cartoon Agent Venom isn't all that bad.
To me they share the same energy. Both versions want to be a hero, both do their very best.
I disagree that the cartoon Flash doesn't learn. If anything yes it is a shortcut but it's a different take on it. In my opinion this is more of a "what if" kind of thing.
Who's to say that the comic Flash wouldn't act the same way if you have found Venom still as a teenager, one who realizes hes gotten what he wants when he's still kinda young and arrogant? Its the way teenagers are.
I'm seeing comments that Marvel doesn't have Heroes who can represent Veterans of our time. To a degree I kind of agree we do have a few Heroes were veterans themselves other than Flash. Maybe from different Wars sure but I still think there's a few. Really it just depends on what you're looking for in them. But sure there could always be more I'm not denying that.
Simply put I think that the cartoon Flash was never going to be Agent Venom from the comics it just doesn't make any sense. This is Young Flash without the drinking problems, this is Young Flash when he still has both of his legs, this is Young Flash when he still has his youth and can still learn everything he needs to. Who's to say he still wouldn't join the armed forces and his own way, I like to think that Shield in a sense is part of the Armed Forces and it's pretty much sure fire that they would give him that training anyway. Given some time I'm sure he'll develop discipline and get used to the role that he's been given.
Lastly I don't think it's fair to compare the two for the most part because their tones are completely different, comic Agent Venom is kind of dark and gritty while the cartoon was colorful and it was definitely a lot light-hearted. I've no problem seeing both sides of the spectrum because sometimes we just want to see the dark gritty stuff but for a lot of people they just want to see the light-hearted stuff oh, there's a reason why people prefer goofy Adam West Batman compared to our current stuff.
Maybe I'm just rambling who knows but that's what I think. Maybe im bias because he is a actually one of my more...favorite versions of venom

Maybe talk about Starlord. Before the films, his other versions are more serious. Oh, and his voice actor in Earth's Mightiest Heroes is the same guy who voices Master Chief!

My favorite is the comics version too. The cartoon version of Flash not only didn't get character development he also acted like a goofball too. Agent Venom is sorta of like a dark Captain America in that he is a soldier with a lot of personal demons so to speak. I like Eddie and Flash equally.

Shows like Ultimate Spider-Man just try to sell as many action figures and toys as possible. So they put a rush on characters like Agent Venom

What, Ultimate Spider-Man making something cool from the comics super lame? What a surprise...
Man, imagine if they had done the Agent Venom storyline on Spectacular Spidey.

I'd say that Agent Venom is my favourite Venom. Love his design, love his antihero status, love that he's dependant on the suit due to his lost limbs.
The first volume was awesome but the series went the wrong direction after that.
The cartoon version was a mere fan service to me. Nothing special but nice to see on screen.

Agreed, but for a kid's show it makes more sense especially during the timeframe that it takes place.

Agent Venom, definitely my favorite version of Venom alongside Eddie Brock. I think Ultimate Spider-man did the character alright, especially for a kids show. Not terrible, not fantastic, just fine enough. He did have some character development throughout the show. At least I like that version more than the MCU version who's not much of a bully. He's mostly just passive aggressive towards Peter. Granted, the MCU skipped Spidey's origin story so he could be worse before Peter became Spider-man. Still, Far From Home hinted at his origin so hopefully he became more interesting in the future, especially with [spoiler] and if Disney could use Venom and the symbiotes.

A minor villain I really like is "gamesmaster".
An antagonist of the x-men back in the day he was an omnipath and was connected to everyone telepathically.

I think the reason why ultimate Spiderman agent venom was like this is because the writers needed to be more kid friendly
