  • The word of Sashiko (刺し子) means "stitching" but Sashiko is not all about Stitching.
Preparing the fabric properly is another important process of Sashiko Project. Here is a tutorial how to transfer the Sashiko pattern.
Some of the materials and supplies I used in the video are available online (Carbon paper & Mylar paper). Please visit this website for the detail & shopping.

    - Small Carbon paper
    - Small Mylar paper

What is the benefit of using transfer paper to get the pattern on the fabric instead of just drawing the pattern directly on fabric with chalk pencil and ruler? Also did you say to have the lines drawn on the reverse side of the fabric? So you stitch from the reverse side also? Thank you for all your videos, your English is amazing and your passion for your craft is exciting.

Why do you have a layer of Mylar paper.?..is it to avoid carbon paper tear?

Is there a reason you transfer the pattern onto the back side of the fabric rather than the front side? I find it more difficult to stitch on the back side.
