Brought my BL 90 back to life. After working on cam eccentric, my timing was way off for making a locking stitch. Thanks for this video!! I am excited to start some art projects.
Thank you so much I appreciate your video for one you're very calm very patient and you're funny. I hope to see more Because I bought a overlock surgery almost 2 years ago and I haven't used it yet it's old and vintage, like me, and a little scary without a manuel😢
I'm glad my video was helpful to you. I have seen a LOT of timing videos but there was always "something" missing in the steps so that's why I put this one together. People who need this kind of help don't need to see my face, just the machine! Lol!
No kidding! Everyone must have a serger like that , I do, I’ve asked for tutorials as to threading it all that comes up are the ones with a vacuum that automatically threads it for you ! You’re the closest I’ve gotten to a tutorial on this Serger ! Mine isn’t making right chains my lower & upper loopers aren’t doing what they should , machine was working a couple of days ago, I need to finish a labcoat asap 😢!
Well, if you adjust the timing by making sure when the needle on the right is in highest position at same time the bobbin hook is just meeting the top of that needle the your stitches should be good. But before you do ANYTHING change your needle, RETHREAD your Serger.and try a sample chain.
@@sewwhatseamstress9076 my Serger is a Baby lock 5260D about 29 years old is my guesstimation were bought at a store called Northwest Fabrics & crafts ! I bought a Simplicity Serger paid $500 on sale spent $ 700 or better getting it fixed never did work , once when I took back to get another machine , the store was being closed , they said serger could be sent out of the country couldn’t promise I’d get it back ! This baby lock belonged to my mom , she doesn’t know how to work that’s why I have it !
Thank you for your help it helped me a lot all I need to do I'd how to raise the feed dogs as mine are low and won't feed the fabrics through it can't find how to adjust on my baby lock BL4 736 model it's a puzzle.anyway well done with the video❤
Thank you so much for your comment. Sometimes I wonder if my videos actually are helping people. It makes my heart so warm and fuzzy knowing that I can help in some small way. God Bless, and keep watching for more videos.
I have this same serger. I had timing fixed then thread broke tried to thread it and no chain. I am not sure I fully understand how to thread this serger. I and others would appreciate you making a detailed video regarding threading this serger. Thanks B.
I'll try get a threading of this Baby Lock Serger model for you soon. One key thing with Sergers of all kinds is that they will not make a chain with the SLIGHTEST bent needle or incorrect size needle for them.
Does this machine have to be threaded correctly in order for it to stitch at all? I just picked one up second hand and when I press the presser foot down, all I hear is the motor but the needles don’t go up and down at all.
All Sergers have a "threading order". Upper looper must be threaded first, then the lower looper, then the 2 needles are threaded, right one fist then the left. The threading of a Serger does not dictate the needles going up and down, it is the lug motor belt that makes the needles move. If this was a second hand Serger, used, it is possible the previous owner did not know how to replace the belt for the motor or the gears inside have seized. Go to the local car parts store, AutoZone, advance auto, even Walmart and get an aerosol can of DRY LUBRICANT. ONLY SPRAY it on the moving joint connections. If a video on this subject would help you just let me know and I will cover this issue just for you! Once I have completed it I will send you the direct link. I am just finishing remodel of my seamstress and Art studio and NEW VIDEOS ARE COMING! WOULD LOVE your issue to be the first❤️
Thank you SO much for your help on this subject! I decided to take the machine in to get looked at by a local sewing machine shop owner, but s video of how to lubricate the joints and how to oil would be really helpful in the future 🙂I can’t wait to see the new room!!
Thank you for this video. I am having a problem with my upper looper not grabbing the threads. Everything lines up like your video. Eeesh! I don’t know what to do next.
The upper looper doesn't "grab threads", as the needles come down THEY grab the upper looper thread. The lower looper is what then grabs the two needles threads. Make sure that your upper looper JUST passes in FRONT of the 2 machine needles as it passes them.
Thank you! Excellent information. My upper looper broke, so I have a new one and the two Overlock needles are new. From your last comment, I think my upper looper is still off and possibly my lower looper isn’t in the right place when it meets the upper looper. Just clarifying on where each point rests as I tighten each hex bolt. Do both eyes line up on the upper and lower when they pass? And is the eye of the upper looper and eye of left needle lined up or is the pointed end of the upper looper lined up with the left needle? Didn’t mean to ask so many questions. Just wanted you to know what was going on and what I have in my mind trying to fix it. I took both loopers off, put them back and I wish I had left the lower looper alone! Thanks for your help! You are awesome! 👍🏼👍🏼
When the upper looper hole is lined up with the 1st needle (one on your right of looking at the server needle plate area, the lower looper should be to the FAR right of the upper looper. Make sure that as you slowly , manually turn the hand wheel, when the 2 needles points are JUST TOUCHING the needle plate area that both upper loop and lower looper are lined up exactly in front of each other.
My has beautiful stitches, but the motor slowing down after a few seconds of sewing and almost stops at the end - it's like stitching by turning the wheel by hand. :(
Sounds like your foot pedal may need replacing. It could be that the wires connected to the foot pedal have gotten loosened. Not enough power getting to your machine. If it feels "warm" to the touch on the motor housing, try placing a fan next to the motor to keep it COOL. Some models are known for over heating. You can replace the motor brushes inside the motor OR You may want to look at replacing the motor, especially if it is the ORIGINAL motor. Motors do west out after awhile, USUALLY it is because the brushes inside the motor housing have worn down.
It is the pressure foot tension that is too tight (or an incorrect presser foot.) I jave a serger that did the exact same thing. The presser foot tension setting is the knob/dial on top if the machine closest to the side where the needle is. Try turning it, ever so SLIGHTLY towards the LEFT until the fabric naturally is pulled over top of the feed dogs. Whatever you do , DO NOT make too many turns, TOO QUICKLY.. Go one notch at a time, I know it is time consuming but the end result is worth it. What I did was I took a sharpie permanent marker and marked on the knob center left and put a matching mark on top of the serger jist opposite.. Turning a fraction left until it stopped the problem . THEN I put a RED permament mark on the knob so that I would ALWAYS KNOW the correct setting g for my presser foot tension. Hope this helps you out, please let me know. I will make a "SHORT" For you to have a "visual" reference.

Try changing the needle. The SLIGHTEST " bend in a needle can cause that kind of problem. Let me know if that fixes it.
The upper looper doesn't "grab threads", as the needles come down THEY grab the upper looper thread. The lower looper is what then grabs the two needles threads. Make sure that your upper looper JUST passes in FRONT of the 2 machine needles as it passes them.

The upper looper position , with needles at HIGHEST position should have the thread holes in line with each other
