All the bands doing this sort of thing I think proves that if classical composers would've been alive today, they probably would've been in Metal bands.
+Adrian Mantsch Couldn't agree more. As a classical pianist myself, I fell in love with metal at the age of 16 and then realized that my opera voice techniques work wonderfully well in metal as well. Today I sing both opera and growling very professionally and metal is my biggest love in life so far. With my love for classical music, these two combined are very much alike in many aspects. People need to be more open minded to metal, because it's one hell of a masterpiece of art.
You know, I have felt for a long time that were any of the classical composers revived in the modern day, they would bask in their own spoiling for choice of formats, genres, and instruments of the modern day. I feel they would never stop at one, but continue on throughout as many as they could.
They would definitely cycle through technology and genres, but I think they'd have intense personal preferences. I've always thought Mozart would enjoy creating some absolutely insane melodies in chillstep, but who knows.
I wonder how the masters would have reacted to the heavy percussion based metal/rock covers to their works if they could have listened to them. Since precussion as we know it is almost non-existent in classical music, that might be a very strange thing to their ears. I think they would have enjoyed the energy and dynamism in the song but I am not so sure about their final desicion on the style. They might just prefer to keep the traditional classical style in their works even after exploring the new genres especially if they are exposed to the new music at a later stage of their lives.
+Timothy Danforth U maybe right, Malsmteen have his own way,AtVance is great too, I appreciate all works from him, I think it was not just my opinion, U listening the clearer notes from the classical part ,all instruments, all arrangment are in the perfect place.....if u not def u maybe know what about i'm talk about here....
Patrik Marek You might want to check out the genre "symphonic metal". As Kelton Kidd mentioned, Rhapsody of Fire, seem to be heavily influence by baroque music. Also some black metal bands like Dimmu Borgir are influenced by early classical music, at least lyricwise.

Check out the Hatebreeder album by Children of Bodom, and Something Wild by them, they are both heavily influenced by classical music and often cite Mozart, Bach and Vivaldi
In XVIII -th century we also headbanged to Vivaldi or Bach. Look at our portraits, everyone had a long hair to do this properly! Later when youngsters was having orgasms with Bethoven's crap, we was listened baroque seriously and that was big mistake...
never get tired of this. I often assume a lot of classic artist were thinking about metal, even before it existed. or would of been involved themselves in the metal genre if they were alive today.
+Orlok Tepes Dracula Yeah, I agree with you. I think a lot of the same sentiment, emotion, power of classical composers and metal artists is the same. I've no doubt many would have been a headbanger from Mozart and Beethoven on down.
Im late but listen to Yngwie Malmsteen, Marty Friedman, and Jason Becker. Oh and the band cacaphony. The genre a classical lover would love is neo classical metal. Your welcome if you get this

Wow, I just heard this song on Pandora and wow. You can tell the pratice they really put in it. I don't care what the haters say, this is a great modern rendition of Vivalidi's winter
I Am a great lover of classical music and metal, and when I listen this kind of songs, I Am sure of metal music is the reborn [not, yet better, "the continue"] of these glorious notes, long life to metal, and long days to winter!

I really could listen to stuff like this all day, Metal and Classical music are they best genres of music ever, and when they come together its magicial and beautiful.
There's no denying this piece cannot be matched in any other way shape or form other than its original composition, but that's not to say this cover isn't a very well done homage to it.
Why even compare them? The original is there, has its own merit, and here it's been re-imagined with its own merits. I'm sure there are plenty of people who could make an argument that this version is in fact better than the original, based on their own taste, but I think it's a non-issue. Both exist and have their own place in the world. It stands on the same footing as the original to me.
As a guy who loves both metal and classical I can say this is a beautiful piece. Those who say it id bad, either don’t know a thing or are “classical defenders” which would make this or any other attempt of this piece not good enough for them
EpicExdeath ok ya investigue según dicen es un país muy muy muy pequeño, casi inexistente es increíble pero cierto baia baia pero es como si no existiera, no tiene mucha relevancia :v

Classical music is basically metal without electricity
No wonder why we metal lovers also love classical music
Metal fans are the most knowledgeable of any music fans
right. Sadly there´s too many metal bands around that don´t have the brain or the skills to do it like dark moor.
Or metal music is basically classical music with electricity!
Ok, there would be no metal without the influence of classical indian music, alaps and the like. But yeah..
We do

Vivaldi would have been a metal-fan to the core.

we definitely need more Heavy Metal/Classical
try Haggard
Do you know neoclassical metal?
Winds of Plague - Anthems of Apocalypse.
More heavy on the metal side but the classical elements they use work really well
Symphony metal, yeah
*Baroque ;P
This is literally the best guitar solo I've ever heard.

This is one of the best things about Dark Moor. They take the pleasing structure of classical music and apply the techinical talen required for metal.
are there more bands doing this?? combining the 2 best musical genre, Metal and Classics , love it beyond words can say
