@@PAHerefords That makes it about as good as it gets then. I remember back in the late 50s I kid brought some rye straw to the county fair to bed his steers. I had never heard of it before then.
Nice video. Have been thinking about getting a combine or a picker here this year. Price of grain is getting out of hand, thinking making at least some of my own feed may be worth while. Having straw for bedding would be nice as well.
I've never worked for a farmer who raised rye... I love the old Gleaners and Oliver tractors. Spent a lot of time on both. I enjoy your videos.
We like it better than wheat for the straw, and it yields higher per acre with less inputs.

We only feed what we grow here, which makes it nice... still expensive but also slightly more cost effective
